The 2023 Nissan Z Finally Shows What It Can Do Against Its Competitors

The 2023 Nissan Z Finally Shows What It Can Do Against Its Competitors

We finally see how the manual and automatic Nissan Z perform against each other and their direct competitors

With the Nissan Z about to go on sale, the Japanese company finally handed out press cars in order for us to find out how it stacks up to its competitors. Hagerty was lucky enough to get two cars – a manual and an automatic - and pit them not just against one another, but against a GR Supra, a Mustang Mach 1, and as a bonus, a 2010 Aston Martin V-8 Vantage. The results are as much surprising as they are not.

The Shelby GT500-H Is a 900-Horsepower Special You Can Rent by the Day

The Shelby GT500-H Is a 900-Horsepower Special You Can Rent by the Day

Why buy a 900-HP Mustang Shelby when you can rent one from Hertz?

Shelby and Hertz. That’s a very bizarre collaboration, if you think of it. These two companies have teamed up and come up with two special vehicles – the Mustang Shelby GT500-H and the Mustang Shelby GT-H. If this tag-team raised your eyebrows, well, there’s some more surprising news. This isn’t the first time they’ve collaborated to create special rental cars. Their friendship dates back to 1966 when Shelby and Hertz created the GT350-H and the latter offered it to the public via a special program called ‘Rent-a-Racer’. That’s some history lesson for the day, huh?

Hoonigan Puts Two Fast & Furious Homage Cars On The Dyno To See What Power They Make

Hoonigan Puts Two Fast & Furious Homage Cars On The Dyno To See What Power They Make

The dyno battle is the precursor to an epic, Fast & Furious-inspired drag race between a Ford F-150 "Frightening" and a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

Hoonigan shows some love for the original Fast & Furious movie by hosting a "Dyno war" at throtl’s dyno where two cars, inspired by the 2001 Fast & Furious movie, put down some epic numbers, worthy of the franchise. Hoonigan brings their Ford F-150 "Frightening", which is a parts bin special with a 2JZ swap while throtl brings out a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, modified to look like Brian O’Conner’s original car. This one, however, is the real deal, so it should be interesting to see what power it makes. Hopefully, no "danger to manifold" signs pop up.

This 1,700-HP Foxbody Is The Rowdiest 1993 Mustang Cobra R You Have Ever Seen

What started out as a 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra was turned into a tire-smoking, drag strip weapon

A 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is something of a collector’s car, which is why seeing heavily-modified examples like this one, is quite rare. However, the horsepower junkies at Addiction Motorsports don’t care about collecting cars, which is why they’ve turned the red ’93 Cobra into a one-of-a-kind, 1,700-horsepower dragstrip-slaying Foxbody Cobra.

2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition

The final edition to pay tribute to the legendary GT 40

Ford is not at its first special edition paying tribute to the GT’s landmark moments in motorsports history. In fact, the new GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is the ninth - and last - in a series of special cars, out of which two are still in production. It all started in 2006 with the unveiling of the 2006 GT Gulf Livery Heritage Edition, and continued until 2022 when Ford already unveiled the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition and the GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition.

2023 Ford F-150 Rattler

A more affordable off-road package for the world’s best-selling truck

When you buy a truck, you also want to take it out off-roading. But with the new generation F-150, the only ones that are actually off-road-ready are the Tremor and the Raptor trim levels, which, of course, are very expensive - one is priced at $51,200 and the other one at $68,675.

Now, however, Ford announced a more affordable version. It will be called the ’Rattler’ and will be based on the XL series, with elements borrowed from the FX4 package.

Fox-Body Mustang SVO Vs Fox-Body Mustang Cobra R: How Much Horsepower Do They Really Make

These dyno tests of a 1986 Mustang SVO and a 1993 Mustang SVT Cobra R reveal their true horsepower figures, and one of them packs way more power than advertised

Knowing how much power a car makes is a good starting point, especially in times when carmakers seem to be throwing random or approximate numbers. Ford, among others, is a manufacturer known to underrate their high-performance vehicles, and Late Model Restoration helps us find the truth. We have talked about them previously when they tested a high-mileage Shelby GT500. Now, they are dyno-testing two very different versions of the Fox-Body Mustang – a 1986 SVO and a 1993 Cobra R. Here’s how much power they actually make.

The 1969 Ford Mustang "Anvil" From Fast And Furious 6 Is Alive And Looks Gorgeous

The 1969 Ford Mustang "Anvil" From Fast And Furious 6 Is Alive And Looks Gorgeous

Remember the Fast 6 Ford Mustang that got crushed by a tank? Well, it’s alive and kicking with all its 805 horsepower

When it comes to classic American muscle cars, the Ford Mustang is among the most iconic names in the history of fast American cars. The Mustang, like other iconic muscle cars, has been immortalized in cinema, and you may remember this particular example from the Fast 6. The 1969 Ford Mustang “Anvil” may be a movie star, but it’s not an “all-show, no-go” situation like with many movie cars. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Probably The Most Bonkers Hoonigan Drag Race Ever: 573 CID Chevy K5 Jimmy Vs 2JZ Ford F-150 "Frightening"

Hoonigan’s 2JZ-powered Ford F-150 "Frightening" from Fast & Furious races a nasty-sounding Big Block Chevy K5; headphone users, beware!

To say Hoonigan’s drag races are epic is an understatement. For a while, we have been seeing some of the most insane showdowns with some of the weirdest builds ever, but this one takes things even further. It may look like a classic Ford versus Chevrolet duel, but there’s a twist. Hoongan’s very own homage to the Fast & Furious, Ford F-150 Lightning, driven by Paul Walker goes up against an all-American, insanely loud Chevy K5 Jimmy Big Block V-8.

Performance versions of the Ford Mustang have always been sought-after, by collectors. We have models like the original Shelby GT350 R, Shelby GT500, or BOSS 302, but for many, the top of the cherry, the big daddy, is considered to be the BOSS 429. But for all its performance credentials, the BOSS 429 had weight-distribution issues, which is why, in 1969, Ford decided to experiment with a mid-engine version of the BOSS 429, dubbed the LID Mustang.

The $200,000+ Bronco DR Is The Only Way You Can Get A V-8 Bronco From The Factory

Just to be clear, this Bronco is a desert runner and it isn’t road-legal

Ford was mighty active at the recently concluded SEMA Show. It introduced tens of concepts for its trucks and the Mustang range. The Bronco wasn’t left behind either. We would’ve liked it if the Bronco Raptor would have made its debut here, but instead, the company gave us the Bronco DR – a Desert Racer built to compete in the 2022 Baja 1000. Interestingly, the company will put it up for sale, but it isn’t street legal. Care you shell out over $200,000 for the beast?
