This Cobra Jet 1400 EV Is World-Record Fast
Renowned Drag Racer, Bob Tasca III, drove a one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 to a quarter-mile time of 8.12 seconds at 171 mph at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, shattering the previous record of 8.27 seconds established in its debut last October.
Because this new class isn’t that hot yet, the Mustang Cobra Jet has been breaking its own quarter-mile record for full-bodied all-electric racing vehicles.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Set a Guinness World Record for Efficiency
Lately, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been the most talked-about EV. It was initially met by mixed reactions as Ford not only slapped the Mustang name on it, previously belonging exclusively to the two-door pony car, but they also gave it many of the Mustang’s design elements, such as the front fascia and the tri-bar taillights. However, as it turns out, the Mach-E has one key redeeming feature, as it recently got into the Guinness world records book thanks to its efficiency.
The Electric Ford-150 Can Tow Some Serious Weight
Have you heard about the heavyweight lifting competition going on in the truck segment? Until last year, the Super Duty and Heavy Duty trucks from Ford, Ram, and Chevy were leading the way by towing in the ballpark of 35,000 pounds. However, the wonder boy, Elon Musk, swatted these figures by announcing on Twitter that the upcoming Tesla pickup truck will be able to tow 300,000 pounds. This, obviously, sent everyone into a frenzy because such a figure was unheard of. But, it looks like this hurt Ford’s ego and the company released a video of its upcoming Ford F-150 electric pickup truck and its towing capability. The latest creation from Ford can tow more than one million pounds! Yes, you read that right. How’s that spank, Tesla?

A 2006 Ford GT Just Beat Bugatti, Hennessey, and Koenigsegg Across the 300-MPH Barrier
M2K Motorsport just made history by breaking the 300 mph barrier with its heavily customized 2006 Ford GT during the last day of the Texas Mile event held at the Victoria Regional Airport. Achieving 300.4 mph (483.44 kph) within a mile is their highest achievement and a testament to the ever going development of the 2,500 horsepower, 2006 Ford GT.
Ford Mustang RTR Drifts the Entire Nurburgring
Vaughn Gittin Jr. completed a full lap of the Nurburgring, doing so while drifting theFord Mustang RTR drift the whole way. The stunt was performed without the objective of setting a lap time. The achievement was no less remarkable, though, because Gittin Jr. became the first driver to drift a car in the 12.8-mile course.
Ford Enters Guinness World Records with a Billboard
It’s probably not on top of Ford’s list as far as records go, but a record is still a record. That should explain why the Blue Oval is now taking claim of the record for the world’s largest billboard, which it erected in Madrid, Spain. The 5,265-square meter monstrosity can now be seen plastered on the side of the Edificio España, the eighth tallest building in the Spanish capital. Ironically, the massive display’s subject is the Ford Ecosport.
The Fastest Car In The World Is A Ford?!
The title for “fastest car in the world” is a pretty hotly contested one. Officially, the old Bugatti Veyron Super Sport holds the record at 268 mph. The new Bugatti Chiron is estimated to reach speeds of nearly 280, but it hasn’t been officially tested yet. And then we have the Hennessey Venom GT which hit 210, technically beating the Veyron, but there are several factors that disqualify it from meeting Guinness Records requirements.
Ford GT Racer Blitzes To A VLN Record Lap Time At The Nürburgring
A previous-generation Ford GT race car driven by Belgian racer Nico Verdonck has set a new VLN record lap time at the Nürburgring when it blasted through a 15.2-mile version of the course in 7:58.558.
Before any confusion starts, this new lap record is different from other lap records that have been set around the world’s most famous race track. The Ford GT’s lap was accomplished during a Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring (VLN) race over the weekend, beating out the previous record set by Jens Klingmann in 2014 when he clocked in a time of 7:59.045 while racing with a BMW Z4 GT3.
There are also a number of other classifications for record lap times depending on different conditions. The VLN qualifying lap record, for instance, is also a different animal from the VLN race record. That record was also broken over the weekend by Walkenhorst Motorsport and driver Christian Krognes, who piloted a BMW M6 GT3 to a blistering lap time of 7:53.375, beating out the record held by the Audi R8 LMS, which posted a lap time of 7:57.474 in 2014.
In any event, Verdonck’s breathtaking lap time with the V-8-powered Ford GT racer is just as impressive as all the other records considering that he set it seemingly from out of nowhere. At the very least, it’s a new 15.2-mile lap record that’s going to be difficult to beat in racing conditions.

Ford GT Race Car Completes Slowest Lap Of "Silverstone"
The Ford GT race car will make its long-awaited debut at the season-opening race of the FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend, April 17, 2016, at Silverstone. Two GT racers under Ford Chip Ganassi Racing will take to the field with an eye towards making a resounding debut in the WEC. That’s all well and good but before the #86 and #87 racers take to the track, Ford dropped an incredible piece of marketing featuring the aforementioned race car in the streets of London.
The objective was simple. Ahead of the GT’s debut at Silverstone this weekend, Ford wanted it to get acclimated with the track by having it do a lap around the racing circuit. Seems simple enough, right? Well, thing is that “circuit” is actually the hectic streets of London, which was mapped in such a way to closely resemble the twists and turns of Silverstone. Ford even embraced the whole stunt by describing it “the slowest recorded lap time around its tongue-and-cheek version of Silverstone. Turns out, setting that record proved to be a breeze as the notorious traffic in the megacity kept the Ford GT (that was actually loaded aboard a transport truck) from completing a single lap for two hours and 20 minutes.
The GT’s snail’s pace – or was it the transport truck? – did come with some benefits as awestruck pedestrians who probably didn’t know what was going on were all there, smartphones in hand, to capture the moment. It’s a great way to introduce the Ford GT race car to British racing fans, but let’s all hope that the pace it set in London won’t be what it does when the real racing happens in the real Silverstone this weekend.

Forget horsepower, 0-to-60 times and most other manufacturer claims, the true gauge for any performance car looking to compete on a global level is how well it does around the Nürburgring. When it comes to the 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang, things definitely look promising. According to horsepowerkings, the GT350R ran a lap in 7 minutes and 32.19 seconds back in September, but with no video or official info from Ford and only a “trusted source” to back up this claim, we’re taking it with a grain of salt at this point.
Still, if that number does hold up, the newest member of the Shelby Mustang family would be in impressive company when it comes to ‘Ring lap times. In terms of manufacturer-backed times, this number would mean that the Shelby GT350R is about two seconds faster than a 997 Porsche 911 GT2 (with stock tires) and about five seconds faster than both a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S. And just to put the 7:32-minute mark into perspective, that’s only about four seconds slower than a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT and three seconds slower than a 2009 Nissan GT-R.
At this point, it is not all that surprising that Ford is withholding the ‘Ring lap time of the Shelby GT350R, as it has yet to even release official power output other than stating that its track-tuned muscle car will have more than 500 horsepower and over 440 pound-feet of torque. I’m guessing as the launch date grows closer, Ford will gladly boast about its lap time if it does stand at 7:32.19 minutes. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few tenths of a second are shaved off here and there once the car is tested in full production trim.

Hennessey’s Ford GT didn’t get to enjoy its supremacy at the Texas Mile for too awful long. Back in March, it hit a blistering top speed of 267.6 mph at the biannual event in Corpus Christi, Texas. Now it looks as if that record has already been broken.
We cannot confirm that this is an official record just yet, but the above video show a Ford GT prepared by M2K Motorsports hitting a top speed of 278.2 mph. It looks like the new record was confirmed on the Official Texas Mile Facebook Page, so it is well on its way of becoming official.
We have a few details on this Ford GT prepared by M2K Motorsports, but it looks like it delivers somewhere in the 2,000 horsepower area, so it’s no surprise that it cranked out this outrageous top speed.

Setting a world record is no small feat, especially when you’re doing it in less-than-ideal circumstances.
That’s why WRC racer, Mads Ostberg, deserves a raucous round of applause after setting a new world-record for the longest ever jump on snow by a rally car. Driving a Ford Fiesta WRC, Ostberg managed to fly his little race car over 60 meters (196.85 feet) in Trysil, Norway.
The World Rally Championship corroborated the record, posting Ostberg’s record-setting jump on its official Twitter account.
While the record is in itself an impressive accomplishment, it still fell way short of the overall jump record of 82 meters (269 feet) that Travis Pastrana accomplished a few years back when he jumped into a barge in the middle of the sea back on New Year’s Eve 2010.
Still, Ostberg’s attempt is impressive in its own right, considering the circumstances he had to deal with in order to set the record. Like we said, give the man his due props.

Back in March 2012, the Ford GT by Hennessey established a remarkable Texas Mile record with a speed of 257.7 mph, but that did not mark the end of Hennessey’s attempt to dominate the straightaway. The company headed back to the famous track at the biannual Texas Mile Festival of Speed organized in Beeville and, with Sean Kennedy behind the wheel, the Ford GT by Hennessey hit an amazing top speed of 263.3 mph!
This street legal supercar is powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine with twin 67 mm ball bearing turbos, a stainless steel turbo exhaust, stainless steel turbo down pipes, a billet throttle body upgrade, twin wastegates, a fuel system upgrade, an improved mass air sensor, polished turbo inlet and intake pipes, an HPE Engine Management Calibration, and other hardware. This setup allows for a total of 1,000 HP at 6,600 rpm. At its official launch, Hennessey announced that it had a top speed of 245 mph, a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds at 142 mph. This newest record proves that the company has gone to great lengths to improve upon that performance.

In 2011, Tasca Racing set out to make history by putting together a Cobra Jet tuning package that could establish a quarter mile run in the sevens. They fell a tad bit short, coming in at a still impressive 8.06 seconds at a speed of170 mph. That time alone was enough to make this Cobra Jet the fastest in the world, but Tasca wanted more.
The Tasca team headed back to the track in an attempt to break their own record. During a test session at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida, Tasca’s Cobra Jet not only smashed its own record, but also became the first to break the 8 second barrier: the car ran the quarter mile in 7.96 seconds at a speed of 174 mph. Shortly after establishing the new record, the Tasca Cobra Jet hit the England Dragway where it ran an incredible time of 7.848 seconds at a speed of 174.4 mph.
Making killer cars and breaking serious records, that is what it is all about in the racing and tuning world.
Most of us like to judge supercars’ performance through real world tests, as well as the provided statistical figures. One of our favorite real world test is the Standing-Mile, an event where, from a dead stop, you push the pedal right into the floor, for a whole mile. The top speed achieved at the end of the mile is the deciding factor on whether you can brag around or sit quietly in some corner.
Well, Performance Power Racing, the guys behind the Ford GT seen in the picture above, decided to brag about it. Their bragging went to such an extent that they contacted Guinness World Records to check out what they achieved. With the official record folks on hand, this tuning company was able to break the standing mile record that they themselves had set a couple of years ago. Now that’s dedication towards improvement.
Performance Power Racing’s Ford GT’s new record is for the Fastest Standing Mile-Street Car at a Bugatti-shaming speed of 283.232mph. The record they broke was set by the very same car that then clocked a speed of 253.97mph. Okay, we get it! PPR knows how to make really fast cars.
To achieve that result, PPR tuned the GT to produce 1700bhp, while replacing the stock parts with Pandalloy Aluminum Alloys. Then, with the kind permission of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, tests were conducted on the Space Shuttle Facility on how PPR could break their standing record by an even wider margin whilst reducing emissions, increasing fuel economy, and lowering the vehicle’s carbon footprint.
A proud Johnny Bohmer, Owner of PPR and the driver of the record-breaking Ford GT, says "Our entire team has worked very hard to get here and we are proud to be able to put an American car in the record books as the fastest street car in the world. By NASA allowing us access to a one of a kind facility, we are given the opportunity to explore these technologies and share their benefits. An immense amount of research and development went in to this 3 year project and we are just scratching the surface of where these systems can be utilized outside of the racing arena.”
Surprisingly, this record breaking GT nearly looks like any other Ford GT. The best part is, you can drive this on the street without the cops bothering you. Yes, it’s street-legal with air-conditioning as standard.
This is what we love about American tuners and supercars such as the PPR Ford GT, the Dodge Viper, and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. They cost nearly a third less than their European counterparts and will still blow them out of the water, if not statistically, then on the basis of how fun they are to drive.
