Here at TopSpeed, we’ve got a closely guarded secret, but we’ve finally decided to spill the beans. See, for the last 10 years, we’ve been on Santa’s advisory board and are tasked with helping him plan his annual trip around the world. Usually, we advise him of what new vehicles are best for transporting presents and help him plan out his trip. However, this year, he asked us to kick it up a notch and help him design an all-new sleigh that will not only give Rudolph and the rest of the gang a much-needed rest but will also get him around the world in style and luxury. It took us four months just to decided which model to start out with, but in the end, we developed the GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0.
Santa is more than happy with the sleigh we’ve come up with, and it’s already been through extensive testing in preparation for the big day. Based on the 2016 Ferrari GTC4Lusso, you know the big man is traveling in luxuriousness, and he can obviously get there quickly too. But, there’s a lot more than what meets the eye. See; this isn’t your everyday GTC4Lusso – this baby is loaded to the gills with the type of magic that only Santa can make possible. So, this thing carries a considerable amount of power over the standard 6.3-liter V-12 and, despite appearing small, has enough cargo room to haul enough presents to hit half of the world in one trip.
But, before I get too far ahead of myself, Santa’s already hard at work navigating his way to the homes of kids all over the world. So, let’s dive on in a take a look at the GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0.
2016 Toyota Setsuna Concept
In a world where steel, aluminum, plastic, and carbon fiber are the dominate materials that make up the cars we drive, Toyota has done something different. Meet the Toyota Setsuna Concept – a car that is made almost entirely out of wood. Well, that might be a little exaggerated, the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain are still made out of some kind of metal, and the tires are still made of rubber, but the body, and most of the interior is made from a choice selection of wood. Interesting, huh?
Toyota claims the decision to use wood to make this concept is because it reflects the developing relationship between people and their cars, saying it “symbolizes how cars undergo gradual transformation.” For the concept, several different types of wood were used, and while something like this could never go into production, Toyota claims it could last over several family generations if it is properly taken care of.
Kenji Tsuki, the lead engineer of the Setsuna Concept, said, “We evaluated various ways to express the concept and selected different lumber materials for specific applications, such as Japanese cedar for the exterior panels and Japanese birch for the frame. We also paid particular attention to the sizes and arrangements of individual parts. For the assembly structure, we adopted a traditional Japanese joinery technique called okuriari3, which does not use any nails or screws.”
So, even though this isn’t necessarily a “serious” concept, it means something to Toyota. A 100-year meter has even been included with the car that keeps track of time as the years pass and the car ages – changing as the wood its built out of does. So with that said, let’s take a look at this rather interesting concept.

The Swagger Wagon has just received a dramatic and quite literal facelift, featuring the unmistakable mug of SpongeBob Squarepants. This one-off piece of absurdity is actually a 2015 Toyota Sienna, customized to the hilt by Toyota and Nickelodeon to promote the upcoming SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
The Sienna SpongeBob Squarepants Edition will make its public debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. As sure as the sun is hot, this creation will likely go down as one of the more popular attractions in Los Angeles.
Once the SpongeBob Sienna gets its fill of the spotlight in Los Angeles, the van will embark on a cross-country tour to promote the new SpongeBob movie before the it opens in theaters on February 6, 2015.
Serious-minded folks are likely to scoff at the Sienna SpongeBob and dismiss it as nothing more than a novelty showpiece. How easy these people forget that this is actually the second SpongeBob-themed creation Toyota has built in as many years. Remember the 2014 Toyota Highlander Spongebob Squarepants Edition that made its debut at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show?
On a far less obvious level, it’s a genius marketing ploy to attach SpongeBob Squarepants to a minivan Toyota wants parents all over the U.S. to buy. What better way to do draw attention to that than by dressing up a Sienna using a cartoon character that kids of this generation are all-too familiar with. We see what you’re doing there, Toyota.

We are slightly obsessed with Paganis and we make no attempts to hide it. We love them in all shapes, paint jobs, and forms. Well, that was until now.
Enter in a fantastically awesome orange Pagani Zonda F with its 650-horsepower AMG V-12 pumping in the background. As you approach it from the rear, you see all of the familiar Zonda F signatures: quad tailpipes, triple-stacked taillights, low-laying spoiler, an ass end that is so awkwardly long that its sexy, and its bubble-top cabin.
As you walk around the front you see... Airbrush ugliness thrown on the front end. Look, I am a huge Batman fan and have seen all of the movies and watched the Adam West series (re-runs) to completion. That’s right, the dude that owns this automotive awesomeness ruined it (in our opinion) by having Batman airbrushed on the front.
To make matters worse, he went the classic route and placed the sound effects in thought bubbles, yet he left the "m" off of "Boom." Apparently, he is trying to play off the Pagani’s stylish headlights as the "m," but it doesn’t line up with the "Boo" and it’s outside of the thought bubble.. Ugh, talk about failing in every sense of the word.
Regardless, the car can still be salvaged, given a driver that does not rock pink shades while he cruises in a Batman-liveried supercar decides to save it from its unholy path.
Then again, if you have $700,000 to drop on a supercar, you can pretty much do as you please with it. At least it’s not a poorly built knock-off that barely escapes the bounds of the average highway speed limit.
In the past few years, zombies and vampires have been like a disease in the cinematographic industry and it looks like Hyundai has gotten the fever as they have unveiled a very strange looking Elantra Coupe. Called the "Zombie Survival Machine," this life-saving model was designed by The Walking Dead creator/writer Robert Kirkman and fabricated by Design Craft. It was built in honor of the 100th issue of the comic series “The Walking Dead.”
The Elantra is well-equipped to ward off any blood-thirsty zombie with armored window coverings, a roof hatch to allow passengers to fend off attacking walkers, and a trunk full of electric and pneumatic weaponry to blast off their heads. Any leftover carcasses can be done away with using the front-end custom zombie plow with spikes because, well, who doesn’t want spikes when attacking zombies? Speaking of spikes, the Elantra also has spiked all-terrain/rally type tires to allow passengers to get to safety and, when all of the technology is wiped out due to the crumbling of our world as we know it, the Elantra will be ready with a CB radio system.
"Our custom Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is the ultimate car for The Walking Dead fans and anyone who wants to survive a zombie invasion," said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. "We are excited for fans to come and experience the Elantra Coupe and GT in a unique, post-apocalyptic way."
In the Christmas night the busiest man on Earth is Santa - that’s no doubt. And during the years Rudolph has been a real help, but maybe is time for it to take a little brake, especially now that Ford has designed this special Evos Sleigh Concept.
The concept is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost cylinder engine that delivers a total of 125 HP and 125 lbs-ft of torque. Of course this is much more power than the one delivered by Santa’s nine reindeer. But, Ford did some math and apparently this Evos Sleigh Concept is cheaper to maintain than the reindeer: currently Santa currently spends in excess of £122 million (about $191 million) on carrots to fuel his reindeer each year, but with the new Evos sleigh he will reduce cost to just £12 million ($18 million).
"They may look cute, but Santa’s team of nine reindeer create a staggering 214,670 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions each year, so something had to be done to help him re-discover his greener roots," said Ford car designer Paul Wraith.
Its not that we do not like Ford’s idea, but we like the reindeer better. And we really like to hear every year: "Go Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen and Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen!"
