2015 GMC Sierra HD
GMC released the official details on its 2015 Sierra HD lineup, which so happens to align perfectly with Ford revealing its competitor: the 2015 F-Series Super Duty. The model comes with a choice of two engines, two automatic transmission, an updated exterior look and an all-new, more comfortable and technology-infused interior — carried over from the 2014 Sierra 1500.
GMC specially designed the all-new exterior in the wind tunnel to reduce wind noise and enhance powertrain cooling for more consistent performance. GMC also worked hard on the interior to make it quieter and more comfortable, with ample storage for work or travel and the intuitive connectivity of IntelliLink.
The 2015 GMC Sierra HD will be put on sale in the first quarter of 2014. Customers can choose from three models — 2500HD, 3500HD models and Denali HD — 18 different assemblies and more than 150 possible vehicle configurations. This should give customers plenty of freedom to build a Sierra HD that fits their needs perfectly.

For 2015, GMC updated the Sierra HD with a new face that features an all-new headlamp and grille design, a power-dome hood and a one-piece chrome bumper. All of these changes not only give the Sierra a fresher look, but they also help its aerodynamics.
The Sierra HD’s new grille ensures a better cooling for the new line of engines, while new inlaid doors help reduce wind noise. GMC also added a new roof design and a tailgate spoiler to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
For 2015, the now-discontinued extended cab is replaced by a new Double Cab, which features longer, front-hinged rear doors with outside pull handles at the rear and new structural B-pillars.
GMC wanted to increase the safety of its work-tuned pickups, so built 67 percent of the cab is made out of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, including the A-pillars, B-pillars, rockers and roof rails, as well strategic sections on the interior structure.

On the same day as the 2015 GMC Sierra HD, Ford also launched the 2015 F-Series Super Duty. Ford’s updated its HD lineup with a new engine, which is a second-generation, 6.7-liter, Power Stroke V-8 turbo-diesel engine that delivers a total of 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a 6R140 TorqShift® six-speed transmission.

The 2014 Ram Heavy Duty is offered in 2500HD and 3500HD versions and with a pair of available engines. Ram added a new 6.4-liter, HEMI V-8 engine that delivers a total of 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque as the base setup.
There is also an optional Cummins 6.7-liter, in-line-six turbo-diesel engine that delivers a total of 350 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque.
The Ram HD line starts just below $30,000.
With all the revisions received for the 2015 model year, the GMC Sierra HD could simply become the truck it should have been from the start. Depending on the pricing, the GMC Sierra HD could possibly give the Ford F-Series Super Duty fits, and further bury the Ram HD lineup.
