Hyundai Veloster N DCT vs Honda Civic Type-R - Can The Small Korean Run With One Of The Best?

Hyundai Veloster N DCT takes on the Honda Civic Type-R; will quick shifts be enough to beat the Japanese hot hatch?

Most would probably agree that a drag race is a good way to determine which one of two (or more) cars has superior performance. Sam CarLegion – a YouTube channel that drag races (mostly) new vehicles – has given us a proper quarter-mile brawl between two of the hottest hot hatchbacks currently on sale. It’s the Hyundai Veloster N DCT versus the Honda Civic Type-R. Although a drag race only tells you so much about a car’s overall performance, the two are more evenly matched than you might think.

Watch Four Micro EVs Drag Race For What Seems an Eternity

Could This Be The Slowest Drag Race Ever? Try not to fall asleep, as four mean EV Quadricycles go at it

It’s clear that EVs are already a big part of modern-day motoring. It seems another endeavor is to make personal transportation more accessible for younger people. These are Citroen AMI, Renault Twizy, Micro Electric, and Reva G-Wiz. The actual race starts at 4:00, in case you want to skip straight to it.

Hyundai Isn’t Done With the Mid-Engined RM19 Superhatch

Road-car production of the RM19 Superhatch is probably still a couple years out (at least), and that’s a very good thing

Hyundai’s mid-engined halo car has a history that dates back nearly a decade, and that’s just the history that we know about. It’s been more than a year since we really last heard about what was going on with the car – now known as the RM19 Concept – but we’ve finally heard something fresh. As it turns out, Hyundai didn’t forget about it. On the contrary, the company has actually been busy making some modifications that includes a new engine. Does that mean more power?

Volkswagen Golf R MK8 by ABT - Making the Competition Irrelevant

Volkswagen Golf R MK8 by ABT - Making the Competition Irrelevant

ABT makes the Golf R way faster than the Civic Type R and on par with the AMG A45 S and Audi RS3

When Volkswagen revealed the Mk.8 Golf R, everyone was very impressed. The familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger was massaged to deliver 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque – a nice improvement of 27 horsepower and 30 pound-feet over the MK.7 Golf R. On top of this new Golf R brought the future with it thanks to some awesome high-end tech like that cool all-digital dashboard. In the end, the Golf became a formidable competitor for cars like the Honda Civic Type R, beating it out in almost every category except top speed, which it lost by 2 mph (167 mph vs. 169 when the Golf was equipped with the performance package.) But, what if this kind of performance isn’t enough? Wait, who am I kidding? This is TopSpeed, and it’s never enough. Well, I suppose it’s a good thing that ABT has our back, and even thought what I’m about to tell you is going to sound pretty awesome, it’s going to get better in the future too!

The $25,000 Tesla Model 2 Might Not Be As Mythical As It Seems

The Tesla Model 2 is said to go on sale in 2023, so in Elon Musk time, we’ll see it in 2024 and deliveries will start in 2027

Tesla has got four mass-produced models in the market today and all of them are doing extremely well. The S3XY range is now mature and will keep the ball rolling for the automaker, but it’s now time for Tesla to focus on its next quartet to further establish its dominance. We already know that the Cybertruck, the next-gen Roadster, and the SEMI are in the pipeline, but there’s another upcoming model that could become the company’s best-seller if it plays its card right. We’re talking about the supposedly mythical, $25,000 hatchback, dubbed as the Model 2, and Autocar seems to have some news about it

The publication has reported that Tesla’s cheapest EV is set to go on sale in 2023. Now, going by Musk’s timeline, we don’t see that happening for at least the next 2-3 years. Would customer deliveries in 2027 be a realistic expectation?
