The latest car to undergo the Hennessey transformation is the 2020 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500. The tuner has equipped its famed HPE1000 package in this car and it now makes 1,000 horses. The changes on the outside and inside are subtle, but massive under the hood. We’re yet to hear about the official 0-60 mph time and the top speed, but it will certainly outperform the standard GT500.

The Tune-Up Will Make The GT500 A Beast

The Mustang GT500 is powered by a 5.2-liter, supercharged V-8 Predator engine. In the stock form, it makes 760 horses at 7,000 rpm and 625 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. These are the figures the car attains when on a 93-octane fuel diet. The Hennessey HPE package pumps up these figures to 1,000 horses at 7,000 rpm and 850 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm.

There is a catch, however. These power outputs are achieved when you feed the car with E85 gas. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, only 42 states offer the E85 fuel. Instead, you can pump in 93 Octane gas, but then the maximum horsepower will drop to 900 horses. So, apples-to-apples, the Hennessey package makes 140 horses and 225 pound-feet of torque more than the standard GT500.

What Are The Changes?

There are a lot of changes made under the hood. These include:

-* High Flow Air Induction Upgrade

-* Supercharger Drive Pulley, Hub Assembly, and Belt Upgrade

-* Upgraded High Flow Fuel Injectors

-* Upgraded Anodized Billet Fuel Rails, Fuel Line, and Fittings

-* Air/Oil Separator System

-* Upgraded Heavy Duty Tensioner

-* Upgraded Intercooler Cooling Brick

It features the same Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, but it has been recalibrated to handle the new upgrades. Apart from this, the car comes with ‘Hennessey’ and ‘Venom 1000’ exterior badges. Serial numbered plaques will also be installed on every build.

Conclusion

The aftermarket company hasn’t announced the price of the Venom 1000, but with the donor car, expect it to breach the six-digit figure. It also comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile Warranty. The package will be available for the 2020 and 2021 GT500s.
