We can’t not like the Blue colors that adorned the Shelby GT500 that was showcased during the car’s big debut. It was a beautiful color, and it fit the car pretty damn well. Of course, it looked even better because of the color of carpet it was displayed on, but that’s neither here nor there. What if you don’t want blue? Maybe you want pull-me-over-red (not that’s not a real color) or some variation of blue or purple even? Well, the Shelby GT500 is offered with your choice of 11 different colors, some of which you can have for free, and others you have to pay for. Oh, and about those racing stripes… we’ve got you covered on that too. Here’s what you need to know.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Color Options
When you pay $72,000 just to step into a car – not including the delivery fees or anything else – you would expect there to be at least a handful of free extras to choose from. Fortunately for you, Ford has you covered in the exterior color department. Not all of them are free mind you – there are no free stripes, either – but there are 9 colors to choose from for free! These colors include:
Shadow Black |
Grabber Lime |
Oxford White |
Velocity Blue |
Iconic Silver |
Magnetic |
Race Red |
Ford Performance Blue |
Kona Blue |
There are also two exterior colors options that will cost you a little extra, but it’s not much:
Rapid Red - $395 |
Twister Orange- $495 |
What about the side Strips? Well, the standard offering is no stripe and, from here on out, nothing comes free. You can get side stripes in black, white, or blue:
Ebony Tape Side Stripe - $375 |
Bright White Tape Side Stripe - $375 |
Kona Blue Tape Side Stipe - $375 |
Racing stripes – you know, the ones that run from front to rear – are available in two different forms, and the price difference is huge, so you might want to pay attention to what box you check:
Vinyl Ebony Racing Stripe - $1,000 |
Vinyl Bright White Racing Stripe - $1,000 |
Vinyl Kona Blue Racing Stripe - $1,000 |
Painted Absolute Black Racing Stripe - $10,000 |
Painted Oxford White Racing Stripe - $10,000 |
Painted Kona Blue Racing Stripe - $10,000 |
Now, you’re probably asking what the difference is between the vinyl and painted stripes, right? How the hell is one just $1,000 while the other can be $10,000? Well, I went over all of that drama in our last article all about that $10,000 Stripe. In short, it’s better quality, but you should really give the article at the link above to really understand it as that $10,000 stripe is really something you need to consider.
It might be worth it for certain colors, but should I state the obvious that you don’t need to go for it if you choose Shadow Black as an exterior color?
Either way, this guide should help you prepare your choices before you head off to your dealer. And, hopefully, you won’t make the mistake of ordering that Vinyl racing stripe.
