Any Australians anxiously awaiting the return of the Thunder can were able to breathe a tremendous sigh of relief; when Holden brought back the special-edition Thunder nameplate to the VE Series II Ute line-up. The special edition was launched as a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the original 1951 Ute and was be based on the popular SV6 and SS Ute models. The SV6 was powered by a 3.6-liter, SIDI, V-6 and the SS Ute came with the standard V-8. Both models came standard with a six-speed, manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.

The special edition Holden Thunder Ute will be available in 10 exterior colors and will be distinguished by unique 19-inch five spoke charcoal alloy wheels. Thunder badges will also be visible on the side and rear of the exterior, while the interior gets sports seats with leather bolsters and Touch-screen Holden-iQ system with Satellite Navigation.

"Over 60 years of production, the Holden ute has evolved from typical tradesman’s transport to two-door sports machine with a practical edge - that’s epitomized by the Thunder range," Holden Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth said. "It is a really bold, tough looking ute which we think will appeal to many of our traditional sports ute buyers. We’re expecting it to be an absolute winner in our showrooms."

This car will catch everyone’s attention because of its beautifully designed exterior. The interior of this 2011 Holden Thunder Ute looks sporty and stylish.

It looks cute and cool on its platform and body paint. It’s a good thing as well that it has a nice and comfortable interior which I bet everyone would also love for their outdoor vehicle.

I’m not familiar as well with this, but I also admire the decent and exclusive appearance of this Ute. Moreover, it’s a good thing that it has a two engine option which both great on this vehicle.

I’m not familiar with this Holden, but I think it was looked like a Mazda vehicle. Anyway, I’m glad to hear that it had a two engine option, and I have to agree that it looks so awesome on its body paint.

It doesn’t look like a picked up car for me, but I have to admit that this one is really looks so impressive on its appearance and body paint even its luxurious interior seems that not suited for a truck like this.

Thunder Ute was already looking great on its body paint, but I noticed that it is too small for a pick up car but surely for those who are dying to see this again it will not that so matter at all. smiley

Nice thunder ute color, I like the trendy goers outlook and the very enhanced and distinct gesture.

I love the interior of this Thunder Ute. It looks so cozy and relaxing, and the exterior styling seems so perfect for me. It already looks great on its color. It is so cool with that.

How many kinds of thunder Holden will be produce. I hope they can create a lot of this even if it a special edition because I really want to have one. I like the sporty look of the car and also the paint they used. Cool blue.

hmm. It seems that they haven’t made an awesome modification for this car. Well, it seems that they just focused on the paint job of the expected from the Holden!

I do love the blue paint job of this car. However, Its kind of disappointing that they haven’t make this car sportier. I really doubt the reliability of Holden car!

Yeah, me too, I haven’t read anything about that yet. Though I must say, I am definitely in it if they would bring the Ute to the states, as I know that it will find a place there.

  (530) posted on 05.20.2011

So, are they bringing the Ute to the US market? I really haven’t heard much about that since they first announced it. I am really looking forward to seeing this one soon.

  (502) posted on 05.16.2011

hmm.I haven’t read much about the details in the performance of this car manufacturer. And I think they are very slow in producing a car. So, I don’t think that they are that reliable. I bet there are other best option in the market rather than this car.

  (314) posted on 05.16.2011

Honestly, I don’t like the paint job for this car and although it has a 10 option for the exterior. And actually, so much for the upgrade in the body, I was expecting for minor modification the engine performance.

But I think that the Ute would still be a success in the rural areas. This one would be a rather good alternative pickup trucks that are available in the market today.

I agree. For one, Nissan’s and Toyota’s pickup models already have a strong foothold here. Add to that the ones made by GM and you can practically say that the Holdem Ute would have a hard time.

  (599) posted on 04.15.2011

Yeah, you’re right on that jay_walker. But I don’t think that this would be the same here in the States. You see, there are a lot of pickup models here that have a huge following, so the Ute would definitely have tough competition.

  (797) posted on 04.14.2011

Well, since they are a big hit in Australia, where the terrain is pretty rough. That one would probably be enough proof of how reliable the car is.

@benjie_klien, IMO, I think this is not the best pick-up. If you are going to buy a truck better choose other option in the market,if you want a reliable vehiclesmiley
