Honda Reportedly Closing Down Swindon, UK plant by 2022
Honda established its Swindon, UK plant back in 1985 and it functioned pretty well until the late 2000s credit crunch when the manufacturer closed about half of it. Before the financial crisis that really made its presence felt in 2008, Honda was making the Civic, CR-V, and Jazz in Swindon, but after the restructuring job, it only kept Civic production going at the site - now it looks like it plans on closing the facility for good, in 2021 or 2022.
2020 VW Jetta GLI vs 2019 Honda Civic Si Sedan
Volkswagen has finally given its Jetta sedan for North America the power, exclusivity, and extra sporting edge that some enthusiasts felt were missing from the package. The new 2020 Jetta GLI has addressed all those concerns and is now a model with enough brawn and sophistication to go head to head with all the sporty sedans in its size and price brackets. If you’re into fast driving, then you will be happy to note the new Jetta GLI gets the exact same engine as the (Golf) GTI, a standard limited-slip differential, and a snappy six-speed stick shift.
One of the new Jetta GLI’s main rivals is the2019 Honda Civic Si sedan, a very hard contender indeed. The Civic Si has a smaller displacement engine than the Jetta GLI, and has less power, but it is also quite a light car, one renowned for its excellent handling and road manners. It also looks somewhat sportier than the Jetta too, especially if you see its trunk lid-mounted wing, the center exhaust, and the aggressive overall design and stance.
If this were purely a visual comparison to discover which car looked more aggressive, that distinction would automatically go to the Civic Si. But it’s not all about the visuals, especially since the Jetta is more powerful than the Civic and it also has a more sophisticated independent rear suspension that VW doesn’t offer on any other Jetta model.

Discontinued in 2002, the Honda Passport made a comeback for the 2019 model year. Introduced at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, the modern Passport fills the gap between the CR-V and the Pilot.
Based on Honda’s Global Light Truck platform, the SUV shares many of its underpinnings and drivetrain components with the three-row Pilot and Ridgeline pickup trucks. It has a similar unibody construction, but it’s presented as a more rugged, off-road capable crossover. More importantly, it’s Honda’s very own design and not a rebadge Isuzu, like the old Passport. 1994 - 2002 Honda Passport
The Honda Passport was the Japanese company’s first entry into the SUV market in the United States. The Passport was born from a partnership between Honda and Isuzu as a badge-engineered version of the Rodeo. The Passport arrived in the U.S. for the 1994 model year, three years after the Isuzu Rodeo. The second-generation model was introduced for 1998 and production came to a halt in 2002.

As the only 8-passenger SUV in the segment, the Honda Pilot discovered a dedicated base of customers on the U.S. market. In an effort to advance their strategy, the company revealed a facelifted 2019 Honda Pilot only days ago along with the introduction of a smaller, updated 2018 HR-V. Naturally, Honda continuously probed the market, identifying the most important challenges customers faced when using the car. In that regard, Honda updated the Infotainment system, integrated more standard safety gear and, most importantly, brought back the volume knob. And yes; the problematic 9-speed transmission has been comprehensively overhauled as well.

The Honda Ridgeline really doesn’t get the love it deserves. It’s so hard for the Japanese truck to compete against the American big boys, but it certainly tries. After all, it wasn’t built for the same purpose as the Ram 1500, Silverado 1500, and Ford F-150. It’s built on a unibody construction that’s also shared with the Pilot and is actually designed to feel and drive like a crossover.
