2020 Hummer H1 Supertruck by Mil-Spec Automotive
Michigan-based Mil-Spec Automotive is quite the name when it comes to aftermarket mods. The company specializes in transforming civilian-model Hummer H1s to rather rugged beasts. The company had recently built a Ford F-150 as well, but it is back again to its niche. Mil-Spec has gotten hold of a Hummer H1 yet again and has transformed it into an apocalypse-ready off-roader.
The company has made exterior and interior upgrades and bumped up the drivetrain power figures for a price tag of $300,000 on this bespoke H1 Supertruck build. Now that Hummer has taken a complete U-turn on its personality and is ready to debut as an EV, this build should make some old-school off-road aficionados more than happy.
Hummer Is Making A Comeback With a 1,000 Horsepower Electric Truck!
After being defunct for a decade now, the Hummer moniker is making a comeback; this time under GMC’s umbrella as an EV. The rumors of the Hummer-revival were surfacing the internet for quite some time, and now the company has confirmed the same. GMC has announced that it will debut the Hummer EV truck on May 20, 2020. However, the company will be airing a 30-second commercial during the Superbowl; during the second quarter of the game, to be precise. How exciting is this?!

Rumors about an all-electric version of the Hummer have been soaring over the internet for a while, but it looks like they will finally come to fruition thanks to GM.
According to a report concocted by The Wall Street Journal, General Motors will breathe life into the discontinued Hummer nameplate as it wants to place it on a new electric pickup truck.
2006 Hummer H2
The Hummer H2 was the poster child for GM and the era when body-on-frame SUVs conquered the automotive scene. It was the 2003 model year when the H2 got its start. Things stayed relatively unchanged for the majority of the H2’s existence, save for a drivetrain and interior update in 2008. Sadly, GM stopped production of the H2 midway through the 2009 model year before completely killing the Hummer division in 2010 amid financial woes and the “Great Recession.”
The 2006 model year represents the midway point in the H2’s existence. It also represents the beginning of the end, with sales spiraling downward at a breakneck pace towards ruin. Just over 17,000 H2s were purchased in 2006, a far cry from the 53,000 H2s sold before the end of 2003.
Nevertheless, the H2 soldiered on in bold fashion. Its squared jaw, big V-8 power and rugged suspension kept it highly regarded by off-road enthusiasts and Hollywood personalities. It was the SUV to have and everyone wanted the H2, whether they bought one or not.

General Motors has announced it is recalling nearly 200,000 Hummer H3 and H3T SUVs and trucks due to a faulty connector to the HVAC system’s blower motor. Reports indicate the connection can overheat and could potentially start a fire if the blower motor is ran at its medium or high settings for an extended time.
There are reports of at least 42 fires related to the blower motor connector and at least three occupants have received minor burns. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is also looking into the incident since it has received complaints dating back to 2009.
The GM-headed recall covers more than 196,000 H3 and H3Ts from 2006 through 2010 – which is basically the entire lifespan of the vehicle. Hummer H3Ts were produced in 2009 and 2010 only, but are included in the recall as well. Roughly 165,000 of those Hummers are located inside the U.S. with the remainder located globally.
GM has not mentioned extending this recall to the first-generation Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon mid-size pickup trucks though the vehicles share many of the same components.
As with all recalls, owners can have their vehicles serviced at a dealership at no cost to them. Owners will soon be contacted about having the recall serviced and GM says it will replace the connector and the wiring harness to the HVAC blower motor.

The Internet’s favorite ex-Ferrari owner and car guy Doug DeMuro has bought another car. But rather than another Ferrari like his 360 Modena, he bought a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. While there’s not many reasons why anyone should buy a PT Cruiser, Doug’s reasoning is pretty solid. He’s going to crush it with his Hummer H1 – the vehicle he really bought.
Before all the metal crushing takes place, he gives the PT an honest review – but with a twist. Anything that needs fixing or improvement gets immediate attention. The updates come by both a paintbrush and a hammer. You’ll get the idea as you watch.
Finally the time comes for the smashing conclusion. Turns out Doug and his friends have to buy a second car, a lovely Saturn sedan, to act as the other half of his Hummer ramp. Without spoiling the video, the destruction is somehow satisfying to watch. The breaking glass and crunching metal is viewed from multiple angles and with plenty of sound. It’s a fitting use for a car that was already hobbling on its last leg. Thanks for the entertainment, Doug.
The rumblings of GMC possibly building a Jeep Wrangler competitor appears to be gaining traction as the Wall Street Journal now reports the GM division has asked its dealership network for opinions on the possibilities of expanding its lineup. You may recall we’ve already heard GMC’s vice president Duncan Aldred speak on the topic back in November.
In that interview with Edmunds.com, Aldred admitted the GMC lineup had room for an “active all-road, Wrangler-esque type of vehicle.” He continued saying in regards to the automaker, "I have come to do a job and change the face of the brand. … We are looking at everything. What segments will grow? What segments will not? We are evaluating all possibilities that could really turbocharge the brand and the growth."
What’s more, the WSJ reports GM is considering implementing “cues and capability” from the Hummer brand. How far GMC would take the cues in the design process was not discussed further, but it seems the Aldred and the automaker are looking into incorporating the Hummer legacy into the potential Wrangler-fighter.
As I speculated in the earlier post, GMC does have the respected Jimmy name it could pull from retirement. Even more convincing is the realization GMC has use of the midsize Canyon pickup truck as the backbone of the new SUV. Its body-on-frame design is ideal for serious off-road duty. The Canyon’s powertrains would also translate over well.
This sharing system already worked for GM’s off-road SUVs in the past, as the Hummer H2 was based on the Chevy Tahoe while the H3 was based on the then-current Chevy Colorado. It’ll be interesting to see this rumor’s outcome.

Well, Mercedes-Benz did it with the G-Wagon, so why not modify a Hummer H2 SUT with an extra axle, two extra wheels, and an extra-long bed to cover it all? Yep, extra, or perhaps excess are the operative words. This massive beast actually for sale in the everything-is-bigger state of Texas for an equally large $98,950.
The vehicle started life as a standard H2 SUT with its
like removable mid-gate and fold-flat second row. The one and only owner traded in the Hummer just before an unnamed “custom outfitter/limo company” purchased the truck. That company completed all the modifications to the frame, suspension, and body, along with the military-spec “Flat Dark Earth” paint color and custom interior job.
Now this H2 SUT six-wheeler is for sale and all it takes is green money. The seller says the vehicle has a clean record and only sports 27,000 miles. Of course with it being a Hummer, it comes with GM’s 6.2-liter V-8 and six-speed automatic transmission. Sadly however, the new rear axle is just for show and doesn’t get power from the engine. The H2 still has its trusty four-wheel-drive system for getting through the rough stuff though.

It’s been a while since we last heard something about the Hummer H2, but now the folks over at SR Auto Group have decided to bring it back to our attention with its sweet "Project Magnum." Based on the H2, the new Project Magnum has soared sky high since our first encounter many years ago. Since its conception, it has gone through a couple phases to evolve to where it’s at today.
The project started with the addition of a new Fabtech lift kit and a new set of 20-inch wheels, featuring a matte-black face and a gloss-black lip. The wheels are wrapped in monstrous off road tires sized at 40×15.5×20.
The package continues with a set of Brembo brakes and a Hotchkis rear sway bar. For the exterior, SR Auto Group opted for a Leios matte black paint, a wide fender flare kit, and a strut grille kit. The last piece of the package is a throaty Magnaflow exhaust system that makes the engine sound even more beastly.
Now Project Magnum is ready to enter the new year with a brand new look and sound!
Electric cars are certainly beginning to take flight lately, with Tesla becoming the unlikely leader of the whole revolution. Okay, maybe it’s not quite a revolution yet, but it’s at least starting to gain a little more traction. It has gained enough traction to garner the attention of UK coach builder, Prindiville.
Prindiville, being the creative company that it is, couldn’t just make any run-of-the-mill EV. Nope, its engineers and designers came up with a near mock up of the latest Hummer H3 – you know, one of the many defunct GM brands – only miniaturize and electric driven. What a concept!
Prindiville has now begun production and released a slew of specifications, so we felt it was time to give it the appropriate TopSpeed once over via a full review. So is this new custom EV in a shrunk-down Hummer body a good buy for the average driver?

It’s been over a year since the last Hummer rolled out of GM’s production facility, but Cam-Shaft was able to snag one of the remaining off-road monsters for a little virtual makeover. The premium wrapping team in Steinbach were hired by the owner of this H1 to turn the vehicle into a rolling tribute to Call of Duty, a popular first-person and third-person shooter video game series.
This special Hummer H1 was created with the help of co-operation and joint efforts which discussed the project thoroughly before coming up with various sketches (some accepted, some rejected). The final goal was to create a perfect combination illustrating their love for cars and video games.
The H1 was then transformed with a matte black vinyl wrap and various "Call of Duty" logos and inscriptions, as well as other minor styling modifications. In the end, they added a special set of games logo and other styling details and a special set of giant wheels and offroad tires to complete the menacing look.
We’ve all been there. You’re standing in the line at a gas station and you look up to see that the lottery has been bumped up to some unimaginable number. As the clerk slowly rings up the customer in front of you, you think of all of the things you would be able to buy and accomplish if you were lucky enough to strike it rich. It’s your turn now and you’re feeling a little froggy, so you jump. One lotto ticket please.
Like we said, we’ve all been there. Unfortunately, some of us have been there a lot more times than others and the amount of money that is literally slipping right off your fingertips stacks up as your chances get trimmed down. This is the exact idea that designers Lauren Was and Adam Eckstrom from the Rhode Island School of Design wanted to convey when they took $39,000 worth of lotto tickets and built a Hummer H3. They wanted everyone to see that with the money people have spent on lotto tickets, they could have just saved it up and bought something cool with it.

The SUV that made a name for itself for being one of the most intimidating of any vehicle on the road is going out in a whimper. The last Hummer H3 - and the very last Hummer for that matter - rolled out of General Motors’ production facility in Shreveport, Louisiana last Monday, culminating the official end of one of America’s most iconic SUVs.
The last H3 was ordered by rental car agency Avis, which if we were these guys, we actually won’t rent out because of the "history" attached to it for being the very last Hummer ever built. Who knows, the SUV might fetch a pretty good price in the coming years.
Whatever Avis does with it though, is their business. More important to us is Hummer’s quiet curtain call. The irony is definitely intoxicating.
Hummer can’t catch a break, can it? If it’s bad enough that the brand is now on its way to being completely dissolved, now comes news that the Hummer H3 models manufactured from 2006 to 2010 are being recalled because of defective hood louvres. All in all, a total of over 162,000 Hummer models are included in the recall.
According to a report done by Consumer Reports, the hood louvres have the potential to become loose over time, causing it to completely fly off of the vehicle. It turns out that the tabs that keep the louvres in place are liable to break over time, which then causes vibrations that can loosen the entire hood louvres before separating off the hood completely.
As a result, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has issued a warning to H3 owners to be wary of the potential problem and that the slightest bit of vibration should be enough reason for them to call Hummer at 800-732-5493 or bring their H3s to their local GM dealerships to have the problem fixed as soon as possible.
While winter is over in most of the world, Geiger Cars has decided this is the best time to unveil a Hummer H2 customized for any road condition including 1 meter high snow.
Called the H2 Bomber, this vehicle is equipped with Mattracks 88M1-A1 rubber tracks at each wheel measuring 40cm wide and 150cm long. The interior gets a matte silver finish with extra headlights on the roof and lettering printed in an army style, but an added element of fun can be seen in the sunroof, navigation system with a Kenwood DVD drive, roof monitor with headphones, and rear-view camera.
Under the hood the V8 engine has been tuned to deliver 398 bhp and 574 Nm of torque.
