If you follow what’s happening in the automotive world, you’ve probably noticed how Hyundai cars have turned from cheap and unremarkable into worthy alternatives to already established manufacturers. When it comes to mass-produced vehicles, the Hyundai i30 is right up there with the likes of Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf. The i30’s rise to its current status began at the 2010 Frankfurt Auto Show, where the second generation shocked Volkswagen executives, wondering how the Korean brand could come up with something so good. The i30 is currently in its third generation, but what really makes it so good?
2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz
The Santa Cruz was one of the most anticipated vehicles from Hyundai for the better part of the last decade. The company unveiled it as a concept back in 2015 at the Detroit Motor Show and there were a lot of eyes on it since it was the automaker’s first pickup truck. Fast forward to 2021, the Santa Cruz is finally unveiled and the automaker has taken a different approach to it. Hyundai is referring to the Santa Cruz as a Sport Adventure Vehicle and not a pickup truck. We don’t know what the reason for this is, but the Korean automaker is coming across as a little defensive here and not as a niche-maker.
That said, the truck, err., SAV, does look pretty fancy and seems to be quite rugged and tough. The truck will be available from the summer of 2021. Also, doesn’t BMW also call the X7 an SAV? The ‘A’ there stands for ‘Activity’, I believe.
2021 Hyundai Sonata N-Line - Driven
Outside of the likes of BMW, Mercedes, and a few others, the concept of sporty and quick sedans is slowly dying off as people look to either bigger, similarly quick, vehicles or smaller two-door sports cars. Then you’ve got brands like Hyundai that seems to either not care or wants to keep the thrill of driving alive, and this is where the Hyundai Sonata N-Line comes in. It’s based on your typical midsized family sedan but is injected with enough sporty DNA that it stands out both visually and in terms of performance. Of course, we’re not talking Porsche Panamera or Dodge Challenger levels of performance, but affordable performance – something that, arguably, gives you a bigger bang for your buck. 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe
The current-gen Santa Fe is just a couple of years old, but Hyundai has made significant changes to the 2021 model. It comes with a bold new design on the outside including new wheel designs, refreshed interior with a bigger touchscreen system on the inside, and three new engine options, including a hybrid powertrain that replace the set of four-pot mills from the 2020 model. A suite of driver-assistance features is now offered as standard. To top it all off, the 2021 Santa Fe comes with a new top-trim, too. 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai has had the Ioniq moniker in its arsenal for quite some time. In fact, it has jumped shipped within the portfolio many times. It was first launched as a hybrid car, then as an electric one, and finally as a plug-in hybrid. Last year, however, it received a promotion and became the South Korean automaker’s electric sub-brand. Hyundai plans to have 23 EVs by 2025 and the journey commences with the Ioniq 5.
The Ioniq 5 comes with futuristic looks, a couple of battery pack options, and an insanely spacious cabin that makes it one of the best crossover utility EVs in the market today. Will it set the tone for Ioniq’s bright electric future?
2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz
Hyundai has a fairly long lineup of sedans and SUVs. With that covered, the company now plans to enter the pickup truck market, too. Back in 2015, Hyundai revealed the Santa Cruz truck concept at the Detroit Auto Show. Not a lot is known about the production model yet, but it will be based on the new Tucson SUV and will have a unibody construction. The truck has been spotted a few times over the years during its test runs, but we’re yet to see it without camouflage. The production is set to begin this year, and Hyundai could debut it sometime next year with deliveries starting soon after.
2021 Hyundai Tucson N-Line
Remember those rumors late last year that Hyundai was planning to release a 300-horsepower Tucson N Line? Well, you can put those rumors to bed. Hyundai has released the Tucson N Line, except that the 300-horsepower engine we expected to see in the Tucson N Line is nowhere to be found. Instead, eager beaver customers will get aesthetic upgrades and, well, that’s about it.
The Tucson N Line still looks like a saucy crossover with more sporty bits to show off, but if you were expecting those rumors to come to fruition, we regret to inform you that those seeds bore no fruit.
2021 Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai initially launched the Ioniq as a hybrid car, then as an electric one, and finally as a plug-in hybrid. But, in 2020, the company decided to relaunch it as its sub-brand that will consist of all-electric models only. Fast forward to the present day and we already have a glimpse of its first vehicle, the Ioniq 5 mid-size crossover. Hyundai released three teaser images of the Ioniq, a month before it makes its full-fledged debut.

The 2021 Hyundai Kona N is an upcoming high-performance version of the company’s subcompact SUV. Launched in 2017, the Kona has become so popular in just three years that Hyundai is pushing it into high-performance territory. The Kona is the brand’s first SUV to feature an "N" badge, joining cars like the i20, i30, Veloster, and Elantra. 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line
It’s hardly any news by now that Hyundai has come a long way in a relatively short amount of time. What used to be a Korean budget car manufacturer years ago turned into an automotive force to be reckoned with. With the Sonata N-Line, Hyundai extends its performance lineup to its midsize sedan.
No doubt, this brings back memories from the times when we had affordable sporty sedans like the Volvo S60-T5, Mazdaspeed 6, and Subaru Legacy GT. Although the Crossover/SUV fever is still going strong, it will be interesting to see if the new Sonata N-Line marks the return of affordable sport sedans.
2021 Hyundai i20 N
The 2021 Hyundai i20 N is the high-performance, range-topping version of the subcompact i20 hatchback. The third N-badged model from the Korean company, the i20 N joins the slightly bigger i30 N and Veloster N.
Unlike its larger siblings, the i20 N features a smaller, less powerful engine, but it looks just as mean on the outside. As a subcompact, you can get a well-equipped model for less than $20,000, but that affordability doesn’t come without its tradeoffs. Being an all-new model, we’ve been itching to see how Hyundai’s latest entry to the U.S. market holds up, especially against long-running nameplates like the Ford EcoSport and Nissan Kicks. We finally got our chance with the mid-level SEL trim, and this is what you can expect from it.
The Hyundai Sonata entered its eighth generation for the 2020 model year, finally completing the transformation from econobox family sedan to something that looks luxurious and sporty. In fact, at a glance, it even looks a lot like the new Audi A7 or RS7 with a slightly tweaked front end.
