It comes with a bold new design on the outside including new wheel designs, refreshed interior with a bigger touchscreen system on the inside, and three new engine options, including a hybrid powertrain that replace the set of four-pot mills from the 2020 model. A suite of driver-assistance features is now offered as standard. To top it all off, the 2021 Santa Fe comes with a new top-trim, too. Did the Santa Fe become the forerunner for the top spot in the mid-size SUV category?

When Hyundai redesigned the Santa Fe for the 2019 model year, it decided that a long-wheelbase version will no longer be sold in the U.S. But it came up with a replacement, the Palisade, which arrived in North America for the 2020 model year.
Also a midsize SUV, the Palisade is 7.6 inches longer and features a 5.3-inch longer wheelbase, enabling Hyundai to go after the highly popular BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. But the Korean brand needs a bit more to tackle the German competition and a Palisade N Line model might be it. Will Hyundai offer one?

Hyundai revealed the 2021 Santa Fe, which is supposed to be a facelift but features some big changes. The current-gen SUV was released in 2018 and just over two years later, the company has refreshed it.
You’d expect the standard aesthetic changes and upgrades, but for the 2021 model, Hyundai has moved the Santa Fe to a new platform altogether. The South Korean automaker has also added new colors to the palette. There are many changes in the tech department as well. Is it right to call this a mere facelift?

Only Australians Would Build a Hyundai IMax N Drift Van, But We’re So Glad They Did
Our mates over at Hyundai Australia must have a lot of time on their hands. A year after building a one-off convertible Santa Fe that was pretty much a standard Santa Fe with its roof chopped off, Hyundai Australia outdid itself this time by rolling out a full N-spec iMax passenger van. Known as the Starex in other global markets — it’s not sold in the U.S. — the iMax N isn’t your typical passenger van. It comes with a completely different engine, a limited-slip differential, and a dual-mode active exhaust system that you normally find in models like the i30 N and the U.S.-spec Veloster N. Obviously, Hyundai Australia wouldn’t go through these lengths to create an N-spec iMax passenger van if it didn’t have plans to have fun with it. Well, it did have fun with it. A lot of fun.
The Hyundai Pickup Will Be Rough, Tough, and Ladder-Framed
Hyundai has decided to enter the pickup truck market to gain a bigger market share. Since sedans are heading towards extinction and the company has a fairly big portfolio of crossovers and SUVs, it made sense to enter this unknown territory. Although new players usually test the waters by playing it safe in terms of design philosophy and the kind of truck they’ll manufacture, Hyundai has decided to go full throttle.
The company’s Australian head has said that Hyundai will be launching a full range of commercial utes to take its share of the pie in the ever-growing segment, based on the Santa Cruz pickup concept Hyundai showcased at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Can the automaker taste success in this segment?
2020 Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade is the new flagship of the range, so it needs to be very good. It has a distinctive face that sets it apart from other Hyundai models and clearly can’t be mistaken for another brand. However, it’s not its striking fascia put on an otherwise familiar big SUV shape that’s important here, but the amount of room inside and how pleasant it is to travel in.
With seating for up to eight people, the Palisade offers one more than some competitors, and if you fold down all of its seats, you can get a pretty van-like loading bay. It also looks and feels well appointed inside, with no dramatic design touches - It’s just clear, functional, and minimalist.
It needs to face tough adversaries that have several generations of models behind them and, with it being a completely new nameplate, it may struggle a bit. Its exterior appearance blends a funky face with a more traditional overall aesthetic, but the interior may feel reminiscent to what you may see in a high-end German brand like Mercedes, Audi, or BMW, and its rivals will struggle to match the same feel inside their cabins.

Hyundai’s Super Bowl LIII Commercial “The Elevator” Features Jason Bateman
Hyundai is using its Super Bowl LIII commercial to promote its Shopper Assurance program for buyers, and it even tagged actor, director, and comedian, Jason Bateman, along for the ride. Given Bateman’s presence, the commercial is light with its tone with splashes of humor sprinkled in to get the audience’s attention. In the end, Hyundai isn’t promoting a specific model in its ad, though it did include a cameo from the Hyundai Palisade, the company’s all-new big boy SUV. The commercial is all about promoting Hyundai’s Shopper Assurance and, while it didn’t exactly drive home the point of what the program is all about, the ad succeeded in showcasing that it’s available for customers who need it. The 60-second spot will run at some point in the first quarter of the Super Bowl.

Named after the Pacific Palisade islands in California, the Palisade is the latest example of Hyundai’s commitment to bolstering its crossover and SUV lineups. Not that it needs to because it already boasts popular sellers like the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Santa Fe XL. But, bigger is better, at least in Hyundai’s eyes, and the Palisade is huge all the way around. The Hyundai Palisade is scheduled to launch in the U.S. sometime in the summer of 2019. Perfect timing, then, wouldn’t you say?

The Le Fil Rouge Concept is Hyundai’s interpretation of its future and will serve as a basis for all future Hyundai models, cars and SUVs alike. Its exterior design has a lot of potential, but the interior is a bit… um… too futuristic if we’re being nice about it. Unfortunately, Hyundai spent more time working on the exterior and interior design, including some really odd interior tech, than it should have so it didn’t have a functioning drivetrain. One could imagine, however, that it had an all-electric driveline that would be good for anywhere between 350 and 500 horsepower. All of this aside, it looks pretty damn cool, so we decided to revisit it and make it our wallpaper of the day here at TopSpeed HQ. Here’s What We Know About the Hyundai Palisade So Far
Hyundai showcased the HDC-2 Grandmaster concept at the recently concluded Busan Motor Show, and we have already spotted an SUV based on it. Dubbed the Palisade, for now, this eight-seater SUV will sit above the upcoming Sante Fe XL to boost the automaker’s lineup that’s filled with all sizes of SUVs. Despite being caught heavily camouflaged, the Palisade couldn’t hide its design cues, and here’s everything we know about this new South Korean beast.
The idea for a crossover truck isn’t a new one. Things like the Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Avalanche, and even the GMC Envoy XUV have trotted down that path. Nevertheless, Hyundai’s latest concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show is a truck of sorts. It’s called the Santa Cruz and Hyundai says it combines all the driving dynamics of a crossover SUV with the utility of a small pickup. A quick read of the press release (below) confirms suspicions that the Santa Cruz Concept is a lifestyle vehicle aimed at Millennials who have “unspoken needs” of greater utility.
“Santa Cruz is the perfect vehicle for those that want the attributes of a CUV, but still have dirty stuff that belongs ‘in the back,’” Hyundai says. The idea is tantalizing: to have room for muddy shoes, fishing or sporting gear, and the occasional stack of firewood without giving up the car-like interior and easy driving attributes.
The Santa Cruz does offer an interesting solution for hauling longer loads in its shorter bed. Beneath the bed lining lies a second section that pulls out like a drawer, added length to the bed’s floor and side walls. The tailgate remains fully functional, allowing easy access to the bed. Cargo tie downs line the inside of the box for easily securing items. A hard-folding tonneau cover seals the bed for weather and security.
What’s more, Hyundai has thrown in a 2.0-liter turbodiesel that makes 190 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The automaker expects the Santa Cruz to achieve fuel economy ratings in the upper 30-mpg range.
