For the better part of a decade (since 2014, to be specific), Hyundai has been teasing us with a stand-alone N-branded halo car that would feature a mid-engine configuration and hatchback body. We’ve seen four concepts – the RM14, RM15, RM16, and most recently, the RM19 – and now we’ve received even more information that helps us paint a clear picture of what we can expect from the N halo car and when we can expect to see it. The future is here folks, and Hyundai’s affordable sports car isn’t far off. Here’s everything we know about it!
Hyundai’s Latest Veloster-based Mid-Engined Track Beast Previews Road Model
Hyundai is no longer the maker of dull, uninspiring imports that people bought because of the low MSRP. Nowadays, the automaker is among the five biggest in the world and has pushed to conquest new grounds building on its reputation as a purveyor of reliable cars that are also cheap to run and maintain. With the N line, Hyundai has proven to the world that it can also make fast cars and its RM, which stands for Racing Midship, range of prototypes has just been enriched with the RM19, the latest and most outlandish member of the breed. Better yet, Hyundai is tipped to put a mid-engined sports car into production after years of exploring the architecture via its RM rolling laboratories. Time to get excited!
So, let us put it this way: at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show, Aston Martin, famed builder of some of the best, fastest, and most exquisite British sports cars and supercars, unveiled an SUV. A sporty SUV at that but an SUV nonetheless. Hyundai, a brand considered by most to be at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to Aston Martin, took the wraps off a track-bound mid-engined sports car. We already know what model you want to know more about and it’s not the bulky Aston DBX. Yes, the automotive world is turning on its head in more ways than one as we speak.

Hyundai has decided to enter the pickup truck market to gain a bigger market share. Since sedans are heading towards extinction and the company has a fairly big portfolio of crossovers and SUVs, it made sense to enter this unknown territory. Although new players usually test the waters by playing it safe in terms of design philosophy and the kind of truck they’ll manufacture, Hyundai has decided to go full throttle.
The company’s Australian head has said that Hyundai will be launching a full range of commercial utes to take its share of the pie in the ever-growing segment, based on the Santa Cruz pickup concept Hyundai showcased at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Can the automaker taste success in this segment?
2020 Hyundai i10 N
The 2020 Hyundai i10 N is a higher performance version of the company’s third-generation hatchback. Set to be unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the tiny i10 will spawn a more powerful variant in 2020. At least that’s what the recent spy shots suggest. Our paparazzi spotted a slightly beefed-up i10 testing on public roads and we have reasons to believe that it will sport an "N" badge.
This will be the first time the i10 spawns a higher performance version. Although it’s been around since 2007, the i10 was never more than just a mundane city car with small engines rated at well below 100 horsepower. This could change with the third-generation model. Few automakers have experienced such sustained and exponential growth (especially in terms of image and how it is perceived) over the last decade as Hyundai has. The company’s new decision-makers are taking a different approach from the regime that championed the concept’s production back then. It remains to be seen how the different stylistic approach affects the production model’s appeal, but that’s also just one of many questions that Hyundai needs to answer before the production pickup arrives.

Gone are the days when SUVs were just spacious vehicles with a basic engine that just about did its job. SUVs are now replacing sedans in almost all the aspects. The big vehicles are now refined, have better on-road driving manners, and come loaded with features and equipment. A lot of automakers have also been getting into performance SUVs lately. The latest entrant to that niche is Hyundai with its upcoming Tucson N. The Tucson N will hit the roads in about two years and will come on the back of 340 ponies.
2020 Hyundai Kona PHEV
Just after we saw spy photographs of the Kia Ceed Sportswagon PHEV, the internet world provided us with photographs of the new Kona PHEV. The small Hyundai city crossover is already available in its gasoline, diesel, and electric guise. The upcoming PHEV will, most certainly, circle out the offering of the highly successful crossover. Caught on film (well, on an SD card really), somewhere in Germany, the new Hyundai Kona PHEV may even prepare us for the upcoming facelifted version of the same car. Before all of that, we have to get adjusted to the fact that small, classy, and fashion conscious crossovers are selling as hybrids like hotcakes. Just note the Toyota CH-R hybrid. We actually do know that the photographed Kona is a hybrid thanks to an eye witness of the photographer who said that it was filled up at a petrol station, but it drove off completely silent probably on electric power alone. Well, in that case, that makes this an “ear witness”, but what the hell!?
2020 Genesis SUV And 2020 Hyundai Sonata Coming In the Next 12 Months
Hyundai and Genesis are in for a rather amazing year. Both brands will reveal as many as 13 different new models - some facelifted, some new. As per my understanding, the biggest news is the imminent arrival of a new premium SUV with a Genesis badge. Judging by the stunning new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV (that isn’t premium), I expect nothing less than extraordinary and stunning from the upcoming Genesis SUV. The second big debut for 2019 is the coming of the new Hyundai Sonata. We’re looking forward to that one too.

Hyundai N Halo Car Confirmed as "Something Nobody Expects"

Breaking: An All-Electric Hyundai N Performance Model Will Happen When the Time is Right
Hyundai’s N performance brand will eventually have an electric model within its ranks, so says the company’s engineering chief, Albert Biermann. Don’t expect it to happen anytime soon, though. For now, the N sub-brand will continue to roll out the i30 N, i30 N Fastback, and Veloster N until 2021. Only then will the company begin entertaining the thought of introducing more advanced N products, one of which, at least according to Biermann, is an electric performance model.

Hyundai N Could Build a Stand-Alone, Mid-Engined Hatchback After All
Ever since Hyundai release the i30 N hatchback into the wild, we’ve been itching to see anything and everything sporting an N badge. We now have the Veloster N, and there’s been some serious speculation about the Kona N recently. More recently we spotted the i30 N Sedan on the road, but now there’s hope that the mid-engined hatchback concept could make a comeback. I’m, of course, talking about the Hyundai RM Concept. Or, to be more specific, the RM14, RM15, and RM16 concepts, the latter two of which improved on the original but all stayed true to the mid-engine design.
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe N
Hyundai announced its high-performance N division back in 2013, and four years later it launched the first vehicle with this badge: the i30 N. With the Veloster N following in early 2018, everyone is now wondering which nameplate will get the next performance update. Some of the company’s crossovers will also get the N treatment, and word has it that the Kona and Tucson might be first in line. But, what if Hyundai also made an N version of the Santa Fe? The SUV looks quite sporty in standard trim, and those aggressive N features would turn it into a menacing hauler and a unique vehicle in the affordable market.
Although Hyundai did say that there are plans to create N-badged crossovers, these aren’t a priority for the Korean brand. The Santa Fe is probably even farther down the line, but it would be the best-looking SUV with the N badge. And, it would also be a reasonable proposition for the recently launched Ford Edge ST. Although the idea seems a bit far-fetched right now, the Santa Fe N could happen sometime in late 2019, after Hyundai unleashes similar versions of the Kona and Tucson.
