The 2020 Hyundai i10 is the third-generation version of the subcompact hatchback. A success story for Hyundai in Europe, the i10 is now bolder on the outside and smarter on the inside. Under the hood, the 2020 i10 is pretty much similar to its predecessor as it features the same engines, but it has a new automated manual transmission. Hyundai also added extra safety features, turning the 2020 i10 is one of the most advanced vehicles in its niche.
The 2020 i10 arrives to compete with its Kia-badged sibling, the Picanto, and the popular Toyota Aygo in a really crowded subcompact segment. How does it compare to its predecessor and rivals? Let’s find out in the review below.
Hyundai Gas Chambered an Olympic Athlete to Prove Hydrogen Cars are Better for the Environment
Yes, what you’re seeing is a person, on a treadmill, breathing car exhaust as they do their usual training routine. That person is Hyundai Spain’s brand ambassador and an Olympic athlete, and that vehicle is a Hyundai Nexo – a purely hydrogen-powered vehicle that Hyundai says emits absolutely zero emissions. Of course, that’s not exactly true as hydrogen-powered vehicles emit water vapor, but we’ll leave that argument for another time.
The reason this actually works is because as the vehicle breaks down the hydrogen, it creates water vapor. The Nexo, however, also purifies the air it emits, which means that person in the gas bubble is most likely breathing cleaner air than you right now. Weird, huh? As weird as it seems, I should probably point out that you shouldn’t try this at home. Doing this with a normal vehicle will result in a permanent loss of life that you don’t want. And, you probably shouldn’t try it with your own NEXO either, if you happen to own one. The whole point is to prove that the Nexo – and hydrogen-powered vehicles as a whole – are safe for the environment… and people… obviously people.
Oddly enough, hydrogen-fueled vehicles have yet to take off, even in the limited capacity that electric cars have. Where electric cars have long recharge times, a hydrogen vehicle can be refilled in nearly the same amount of time it takes to fill a take of gasoline or diesel. But, there are two downsides, the first being that hydrogen fuel cells don’t tend to work in cold temperatures, and the other being that there is a serious lack of hydrogen fueling stations. For what it’s worth, Hyundai does say that the Nexo can operate in temperatures as low as -30 degrees Fahrenheit. For now, enjoy the video, and, as I said before, don’t take this is as some stupid challenge. If you try it and kick the bucket, we’ll be forced to say you fell victim to natural selection.

While the car is a cool racing proposition for the future, the story behind it is a bit more interesting than what you could pick up at first glance. We know a lot more about it than Hyundai was comfortable to reveal in Frankfurt.
2020 Hyundai I10 N-Line - Raising the Bar or Setting Low Standards?
We saw the new 2020 Hyundai i10 only a few weeks ago. Now, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Korean company revealed its sharpest version called the Hyundai i10 N-Line. Garnished with performance-inspired and N-developed decorations, the Hyundai i10 N-Line combines fresh wheel design, new bumpers, and other styling cues to evoke a certain hot-hatch quality.
The 2020 Hyundai i10 N-Line comes with a 1.2-liter, N/A gasoline engine developing 83 horsepower and 87 pound-feet of torque. However, you can have it with a turbocharged mill as well. The 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder unit provides 99 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque.
True, these numbers don’t feel like much, but the i10 would feel zippy with that one-liter mill. Here’s the reasoning behind that claim: the Volkswagen Up! GTI has a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder. And it is freaking awesome. The VW Golf Mk1 GTI from 1976 had a 108-horsepower engine with 101 pound-feet of torque. It was also awesome. The 2020 Hyundai i10 N-Line is a perpetrator of pure motoring fun - just as hot hatchbacks were some time ago.

Our paparazzi spotted a slightly beefed-up i10 testing on public roads and we have reasons to believe that it will sport an "N" badge.
This will be the first time the i10 spawns a higher performance version. Although it’s been around since 2007, the i10 was never more than just a mundane city car with small engines rated at well below 100 horsepower. This could change with the third-generation model. As opposed to humans or mammals, for example, which have grown internal skeletons or endoskeletons that are covered in soft tissue. In the broader sense, an exoskeleton is also a device that can gift whoever wears it with more strength and endurance - not quite full-cyborg stuff yet, but pretty close.

How the i10 city car has evolved from one generation to the next is the story of Hyundai’s growing confidence over the last few years. The first generation car looked humble and honest - it had the appearance of a kei car puffing itself up to look like something Europeans might find appealing. Next came the second-gen i10, with its bold face and overall design, and it was unashamedly European in the way it was perceived and much more proud-looking than the car it replaced.
