Did You Know You Needed A DTM-Inspired Mercedes-Benz G-Class? Neither DId We, Until Now
What do you get when you throw Mercedes’ Chief Design Officer, Gorden Wagener, and Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director, Virgil Abloh, in a room and task them with redesigning the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class? Our first instinct would be something like the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Laundaulet complete with a lavish, Vuitton inspired cabin fit for a movie star, but that instinct is completely off the mark as the result of this unlikely collaboration is something called ’Project Gelandewagen,’ and it’s more German Touring Car Championship than Hollywood Boulevard.
Maserati’s "Brand-New" V-6 Engine Is Actually Based on a Ferrari V-8
Maserati introduced the MC20 supercar with a twin-turbo V-6 engine called Nettuno. The company claims that this engine is new and "100% Maserati," but the mill actually shares parts with powerplants found in Ferrari and Alfa Romeo models. As speculated long before Maserati unveiled the car, the Nettuno engine is derived from a Ferrari V-8 and is similar to a V-6 that Alfa Romeo offers in high-performance versions of the Giulia and Stelvio.
Mopar Launches Retractable Center-Mounted Bed Step for Ram 1500 Trucks
Pickup trucks have been around for ages now. Even after being thoroughly abused, these workhorses refused to die. With changing times, pickup trucks became more than just people and luggage haulers and started being infused with creature comforts and even some performance upgrades. One thing, however, that remained the same was the pickup bed and its utility. But, not too long ago, Ram revolutionized this by introducing a MultiFunction Tailgate that was a simple transformation but made a whole lot of difference. GM followed, and now Ford is working on something similar as well.
While it was practical and made a lot of sense, climbing into the bed with the swing doors open was still a task. Now Ram and Mopar have introduced a retractable, bed-mounted step that solves this issue.
This Classic, Mid-Engined Mustang Is the Muscle Car We’ve Always Deserved
The 1969-1970 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 arguably marked the end of an era, as the GT500 began to be built in-house by Ford. Carroll Shelby’s actual involvement in the design of the car was reduced, somewhat telling of the colder relationship between the two sides that was further underlined by the fact that Ford raced the Boss 302 at the same time - not a Shelby model. But all that gets put aside when you look at the renders of Rostislav Prokop that has envisioned an unusual mid-engined Mustang: one that keeps the proportions of the front-engined original.
Spy Shot Alert: 2021 Ferrari Portofino Seen For the First Time!
Back in 2017, Ferrari replaced the California T, its retractable-top grand tourer, with the Portofino. A much-improved version with a redesigned exterior and a more powerful turbo V-8 engine, the Portofino is about to get a mid-cycle refresh. As these new spy photos show, Ferrari is testing a camouflaged Portofino near Maranello, meaning that the 2021 model year could bring a revised version of the grand tourer. But are there any significant changes to talk about?
Hennessey’s Over-Tuned Jeep Trackhawk Humbles the Chevy C8 Corvette
Hennessey Performance is known to heavily tune the vehicles it takes under its wings. This isn’t a marginal increase as many products to date have been tuned to make around 1,000 horses. As if this wasn’t enough to hype the products, the tuner often hosts drag races with other supercars and SUVs to give us a glimpse and perspective of how fast and agile these vehicles get after a Hennessey tune-up. The latest video shows a tuned Grand Cherokee Trackhawk go up against a near-stock Chevy C8 Corvette. It’s a given which vehicle won, but it’s a fun video nevertheless.
The Current Nissan GT-R’s Final Breath Will Be Though the GT-R50’s 710-Horsepower Engine
After 13 years in the market — yes, it’s been that long — Nissan is finally prepared to bid adieu to the R35-generation of the Nissan GT-R. The iconic supercar’s swan song isn’t expected to happen until 2023 at the earliest, but this early, the automaker is already preparing what Japanese magazine Best Car Web describes as a Final Edition model that will pack no less than 750 horsepower. This apocalyptic version of Godzilla will be limited to just around 20 units, ensuring not only its exclusivity but also the distinction of being the most powerful production-spec GT-R to be built. Expect to pay the motherlode when this mighty supercar arrives with a sticker price of 40 million yen in Japan. That converts to around $377,000 based on current exchange rates, though it’s hard to say what the conversion rate is going to be like once it arrives in 2022.
The Maserati MC20 Actually Sounds Decent In This New Video
Maserati just unveiled the MC20, a spiritual successor to the iconic MC12 with more than 600 horsepower on tap. But while it’s powerful enough to leave the MC12 behind, the MC20 is viewed by purists as a less attractive alternative due to the fact that it’s powered by a turbocharged V-6 engine. Granted, sports car fitted with V-8 and V-12 engines sound better when you floor it, but this new footage of the MC20 proves that Maserati’s new V-6 doesn’t sound half bad.
Watch How a RWD Honda Civic Drift Car Comes to Life in Just 10 Minutes
Honda Civic conversions happen more frequently than most people realize. Most of these conversions usually involve turning the front-wheel-drive compact car to either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, usually for reasons that involve one form of motorsport or another. These conversions aren’t difficult to do, and that probably explains why a lot of Civic conversions aren’t as well-thought-out as we’d expect them to be. They get the job done, sure, but the finished product still left a lot to be desired. Then there’s this Honda Civic conversion that comes to us by way of Jimmy Oakes of Oakes Garage. Not only was this build completely thought out, but the painstaking process and attention-to-detail is something to behold. To think this Civix started out as a beater and turned into a fully formed drift car is a testament to the work put in by Oakes and his peeps.
Could Volkswagen and Tesla Work Together on EVs in the Future?
Volkswagen and Tesla have been having some sort camaraderie for quite some time now that seems a little more than just healthy, mutual respect. Recently, Elon Musk test drove the Volkswagen ID.3, and now, VW’s CEO, Herbert Diess, took a drive in the Tesla Model Y. This leads to speculations if Tesla and Volkswagen are joining forces, but the German automaker’s CEO put an end to the rumors saying there is no deal between the two companies. But, could the two giants tag-team EVs in the future?
Amazing Car for Sale: 1990 Land Rover 110

The Maserati MC20 May Be Cool But It’s No MC12 Follow-Up
The Maserati MC20 is the first supercar to come from the legendary Modenese automaker since the mid-’00s and, right as it arrived, the MC20 has sprung comparison after comparison with Maserati’s last mid-engined creation, the MC12. Many have already labeled the MC20 as the ’spiritual successor of the MC12,’ but we beg to differ.
