Infiniti has introduced the new Q50 ‘Signature Edition’ to spice up its model range a bit. The luxury sedan has been on the market for the better part of the last decade, and it was getting lost in the highly competitive segment. The automaker had refreshed the car recently and even came up with a powerful, sportier version called the ‘Red Sport 400’. For 2021, Infiniti has opted for subtle exterior and interior upgrades and selected a ‘classy’ approach. It is said to be a limited-production edition, but the company hasn’t announced how many Signature Editions will be produced.

What’s Different On The Signature Edition?

The Signature Edition will join the Q50 lineup as a special edition and not a regular trim. It is based on the Sensory trim, which sits in the top half of the hierarchy. The trims offered on the Q50 are Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400. Infiniti will offer the Q50 Signature Edition with four new different exterior shades - Dynamic Sunstone Red, Majestic White, Midnight Black, and the Grand Blue. It will ride on 19-inch Sport aluminum wheels which will most likely be wrapped around 245/40 section all-season run-flat tires. A dark chrome grille wraps up the changes on the exterior.

On the inside, the highlight is the Saddle Brown leather-appointed upholstery draped around sport seats. Apart from this, it also comes with:

-* Climate Control with Air Purifier

-* Black open-pore wood interior trim

-* 16-speaker Bose audio system

-* Dual seven- and eight-inch touchscreen systems

How Much Power Does The Q50 Signature Edition Make?

It features the same engine offered across the trims – a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that makes 300 ponies at 6,500 rpm and 295 pound-feet of twist between 1,500 and 5,200 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup as standard, but you can also have it with an all-wheel-drive system for extra moolah.

The same engine is offered on the Red Sport 400, too, but it makes 400 horses at 6,500 rpm and 350 pound-feet of oomph between 1,600 and 5,200 rpm.

How Much Does It Cost?

The 2021 Infiniti Q50 Signature Edition starts at $48,200 for the rear-wheel-drive model and $50,200 for the all-wheel-drive model. This makes it $500 more expensive than the Sensory model. Here’s how the other trims of the Q50 are priced for the 2021 model year:

-* Pure – $36,700

-* Luxe – $41,800

-* Sensory – $47,700

-* Red Sport 400 – $55,850

These are the prices for the rear-wheel-drive models. All of them are available with an all-wheel-drive system, too, for a premium of $2,000.

Conclusion

The 2021 Q50 Signature Edition is already available and is said to be a limited-production model. However, the company hasn’t announced how many examples will be produced. It looks like a ploy to create hype, at the most, and could be available all year round.
