Isuzu sells the rugged D-Max pickup in a wide range of body styles and four different applications, but the version that sits at the top of the range is the most impressive, and it’s called Arctic Trucks AT35. It's built in collaboration with renowned off-road specialist Arctic Trucks from Iceland.

What Makes the Isuzu DMAX Arctic Trucks AT35 Special?

Isuzu likes to point out that the D-Max hasn’t just been modified by the Iceland-based company, but that it has actually been re-engineered to be significantly more capable off-road.

Main features include 35-inch Nokian Rotiiva AT Tires on black 17-inch rims, Fox Performance Series Suspension, Flared Wheel Arch Extensions as well as Extended Profile Side Steps. The exterior look is completed by the Arctic Trucks Chrome Badge & Decal Set, but it also needs a proper roof rack to complete the look - it’s not offered on the Isuzu, but Arctic Trucks does sell it separately.

The AT35 is based on a fairly high spec D-Max, so it gets a push-button start, full leather upholstery as well as a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Isuzu also added three new color choices for it for the 2018 model year: Spinel Red, Sapphire Blue and Galena Grey which is a special order color.

These changes have been made, according to Isuzu, to enhance the look and feel of all models higher up in the range.

The 1.9-liter engine is untouched, making 163 metric horsepower, but buyers can choose either a manual or automatic six-speed transmission.

But remember, this isn’t a case of buying a D-Max then having it modified like this - Isuzu will sell it to you fully kitted out by Arctic Trucks, and you still get the five-year/125,000-mile warranty for a price of €44,000 or around $50,830.
