Back in 2019, Jaguar announced the Vision Gran Turismo - an all-electric supercar specially designed for the Gran Turismo Sport racing game. A year later, the Vision Gran Turismo SV joined the lineup - a more powerful version that was inspired by the C-Type and D-Type classic models.

Now, two years later Jaguar is adding a third model to the lineup: the Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, which is actually already available in Gran Turismo 7 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles starting March 4th, 2022.

The new Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is a single-seat electric race car featuring a stiff monocoque body crafted from carbon-fiber composites and advanced aluminum alloys. Just like the previous Coupe and SV versions, it takes inspiration from classic Jaguar race cars, like the D-Type.

However, the Roadster features a few unique design elements when compared to previous versions. It will be distinguished by unique roundel lights in the grille and hand-crafted leather straps on the front fenders. A modern interpretation of the three-time Le Mans-winning D-type, the fin features Union Jack etching and it is illuminated by LEDs.

As for the interior, Jaguar wanted it to be driver-focused and it combines lightweight, luxurious materials, and finishes with stunningly intricate details. Also, in place of a deployable canopy, the Roadster features a swept-back aero screen directly in front of the driver.

Just like the coupe version, the new Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is powered by three electric motors; one motor on the front axle and two on the rear. They deliver a combined output of more than 1,005 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is done in under two seconds, while the top speed is above 200 mph. The model is equipped with a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery package that ensures a low center of gravity, a low roll center, and a near 50:50 weight distribution.

Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo Creator, President of Polyphony Digital Inc., said: "We are delighted to announce the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, which completes the trilogy of Jaguar Vision vehicles for Gran Turismo 7. It was a great experience to work with the Design team at Jaguar. We look forward to drivers getting behind the virtual wheel in the new game. All three cars lend themselves perfectly to the exciting new user experience that GT7 will offer."
