Barely a Day After its Unveiling, The Jaguar XE 300 SPORT Already Holds A Unique Record
More than a few people were disappointed when news broke that Jaguar was ditching plans to build the XE SVR. To (probably) make up for it, the British automaker released the XE 300 SPORT, a special edition version that serves as a nice headline piece ahead of the updated 2019 models. To help drive up the buzz surrounding the XE 300 SPORT, Jaguar brought it to Flevonice, Netherlands, where it could have a go at the world’s longest ice track against Olympic champion speed skater Shaolin Sándor Liu. Yes, the XE 300 SPORT raced against an Olympian. You’ll never guess who came out on top.
Jaguar R Models are Being Cannibalized by SVR Models
The future of Jaguar’s R models is in jeopardy, and the biggest culprit of its uncertain future could be the model that’s sitting above it. A report from Auto Express revealed that Jaguar ‘R’ models will likely be discontinued because of the presence of the ’SVR’ models that sit above them. Apparently, the British automaker is now feeling the effects of one model cannibalizing the sales of another. It took longer than expected for Jag to realize this, but, hey, better late than never.
Confirmed: Jaguar SVO Will Get its Hands on Jaguar’s EVs; an I-Pace SVR Could be in the Cards
The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first EV and, despite the fact that it’s barely been released from the incubator, the folks over Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations are itching like crackheads to get their hands on it. SVO boss, John Edwards told Motoring that a high-performance version of an EV wouldn’t be easy but not that it’s impossible. And, that it’s not all about performance, it could extend to luxury and comfort as well. And, to add the icing to the cake, it’s quite possible that the could wear SVR badges.

Fresh off of making its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar I-Pace now has a price to go with the name and the face. Jag’s new electric crossover has now been priced at $69,500 in the U.S., and that’s before local and federal government incentives. Proving that it’s more than just a fancy Jaguar with an all-electric powertrain, the I-Pace can now be had at a price tag that’s $10,000 cheaper than the model Jaguar used as its benchmark: the Tesla Model X.

The Jaguar I-Pace is Set to Debut on March 1st!
A little over a year after introducing the Jaguar I-Pace Concept, the British automaker is all set to unveil the production version of the same model. The live reveal will take place on March 1 at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Jaguar will be live-streaming the festivities straight from its production facility in Graz, Austria. From there, the I-Pace will make the trip to Geneva, Switzerland where it will make its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Set those alarm clocks ready because Jag’s first-ever electric vehicle is ready to roll.
A Classic Jaguar is Being Brought Back To Life
While it’s not exactly as famous as the Jaguar E-Type — no Jag is — the D-Type is still regarded as one of the most iconic Jaguars in history. Only 75 D-Type units were built in the late 1950s after Jaguar initially planned to build 100 units. Apparently, Jag’s failure to reach its intended goal has gnawed at the company for years. Well, Jag’s finally doing something to address that by announcing plans to build the last 25 units of the D-Type. This is not a drill, folks. Jaguar really is going to build the last 25 units of the iconic race car, completing what it should’ve done 60 years ago.
A Lot of People Are Fighting Over The Lister Thunder
The Lister Thunder made its official debut on Wednesday, January 31. Less than 24 hours later, almost a quarter of all units Lister plans to produce were sold. The mad rush to score a unit of the Lister Thunder resulted in 22 sales of the sports car. Considering that each car costs £139,950 ($198,000) and only 99 units are planned, selling 22 units in less than a day is a pretty impressive haul for a company that’s been dormant for so long.

The Lister Thunder: A 660 Horsepower, 200+ MPH Jaguar F-Type That You Need in Your Life
The F-Type has cemented itself as one of Jaguar’s greatest, most successful models in the automaker’s long history. From the new turbo-four model to my personal favorite, the SVR, the F-Type is a true sports car worth of attention. But Lister Motor Company saw some ways of improving the beast. It’s called the Lister Thunder, and it rumbles our a sinister 666 brake horsepower (660 in U.S. terms) and 719 pound-feet of torque thanks to upgrades made to the F-Type’s 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. The namesake feature, of course, is the upgraded exhaust system that, quite literally, sounds like thunder.
Jaguar I-Pace Confirmed For 2018 Debut
It’s been just over a year since Jaguar showed off the I-Pace concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and now the model has been confirmed for a global reveal in the first quarter of 2018. Few details have been released as of the time of this writing, but Jaguar promises the order books will open for full configuration in March, with customers who have clicked the “I Want One” button on Jag’s website getting priority. So far, more than 200 production-level prototypes have allegedly traveled a grand total of 1.5 million miles over 11,000 hours of testing. Jag claims it can deliver long distances from a single charge and will be able to fast charge with “80-percent charge being achievable in a short break.” Full specification and pricing information will be made available in March when the order books officially open. Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Sets Nurburgring Record for Sedans
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the fastest production sedan on the Nurburgring track. Jaguar unveiled today that the XE SV Project 8, its high-performance four-door based on the compact XE, has set a new record on the German track known as the "Green Hell." The British sedan lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife course in 7:21.23 minutes, a whopping 11 seconds quicker than the previous record holder, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.
Insider Knowledge – You can Save BIG Money on the Jaguar F-Type Right Now
So, here’s the deal – Jaguar isn’t advertising it, but it’s dealers are getting a major discount for each Jaguar F-Type sold. How Much? As much as $30,000 Gertrude; that’s how much. The nitty-gritty: Dealers are getting $30,000 cash incentives on the F-Type SVR, $20,000 on the F-Type R, and $10,000 on the F-Type V-6. So, if you’re planning to buy an F-Type, walk into your dealer with this knowledge, otherwise, they might try to get one over on you. Either way, this is a pretty big deal, and even if some dealers try to play stupid, others out there are already applying a full discount. And, they should.
See, the whole point of this huge dealer cash incentive is to help them move 2017 inventories, not for them to make $30,000 on some poor guy who doesn’t know what’s going on. The dealers can mark them down as much as they want, to the maximum amount and will still get their full incentive, but, there’s a catch. See, the dealers only get the cash incentive if the sale isn’t combined with promotional financing. That means you’re either paying case or walking into the door with a check pre-written by the loan agent at your bank or credit union – you know, outside financing.
With that in mind, you could – in theory – get yourself a V-6 F-Type for as little as $50,000 if your dealer has one in stock and will give you the full $10,000 cash incentive. OF course, most dealers have already sold out of the base model, as usual, so you’ll probably have to go for an R or SVT, both of which will drain the bank a bit more. But, with when you take into account that just a week ago the F-Type SVR had a sticker of $130,000, and you can now find them listed for just over $100,000, you’re still getting a damn good deal for a car that’s still new. Oh and, by the way, there’ are absolutely no dals on the table for buying or leasing a 2018 model with all current offers expiring after the new-years blowout on January 1, 2018. So, I wouldn’t hold my breath expecting to get a better deal on a 2018 model and, for what it’s worth, the 2018 model will probably be the exact same anyway so do yourself a favor and take advantage of this deal while you still can.
Visual Comparison: Volvo XC40 VS Jaguar E-Pace
Volvo has recently introduced their compact, premium SUV, the XC40, in Milan, Italy. It happens to be the third vehicle to join Volvo’s SUV lineup and has a lot of work to do in a crowded segment. The Compact SUV also happens to be Volvo’s first vehicle to be underpinned by their new modular vehicle architecture (CMA) platform. This platform will also support Volvo’s fully electric vehicles of the future as the brand continues to evolve. All told, the XC40 sits below the XC60 in the lineup and competes with some other recently unveiled smaller premium SUVs like the Jaguar E-Pace.
The E-Pace borrows some of its design formulas from the flagship F-Pace Crossover, much like the XC40 borrows some DNA from its larger brethren. Surprisingly, both of these SUV’s seem to have inherited all their technologies from the bigger SUV of their lineup. Both the Volvo XC40 and the Jaguar E-Pace will be available with a thirst for diesel or petrol at the time of launch (and, depending on the market) and can be optioned with four-wheel drive as well.
1958 Lister-Jaguar ‘Knobbly’
Throughout the 1950’s, Jaguar was busy establishing itself as a major power when it came to racing at Le Mans and sports car racing in general, owing much to such icons as the C-Type and its successor, the D-Type. By 1957, the Cat Badge had acquired as many as four wins at the iconic 24-hour race, not to mention numerous additional wins around the world. Unfortunately, Jag was stopped dead in its tracks when its Browns Lane factory in Coventry burned down in a fire on February 12th of that year, subsequently destroying the brand’s competition vehicles and the means to produce them, not to mention nine D-Types slated for road duty in XKSS specification. However, rather than throwing in the towel, Jaguar responded by turning to its motorsports partner Lister Motor Company, and a deal was struck wherein Lister would supply a body and chassis, while Jaguar would outfit it with an engine and drivetrain components. Thus, the iconic Lister-Jaguar ‘Knobbly’ was born, and with it, further competition success for the British automaker. Equipped with a lightweight aluminum body, advanced suspension and brakes, and a powerful six-cylinder engine, these curvaceous racers had the right stuff to once again propel its drivers to the top of podium.
These days, the Lister-Jaguar ‘Knobbly’ is considered highly collectible, with some examples easily fetching several million dollars at auction. We managed to catch one at the Mecum Auction in Monterey, California, this past August, and present it here for your lust and admiration.

2017 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY
Jaguar’s “Pace” lineup has grown quite quickly, with the F-Pace winning the hearts of many, and the E-Pace – the baby of the lineup – coming to life for the 2018 model year. Both of these models, however, make use of gasoline or diesel engines for motivation. Recently, however, Jaguar debuted the I-Pace Concept, a vehicle that, once put into production, will sit at the top of the lineup with its sedan-like proportions and two electric motors – the same ones that delivered 394 horsepower and 516 pound-feet in the concept. It seems that we’re actually getting a look at a high-performance version of the I-Pace long before we actually see the production car, all thanks to Formula E and a race series that will feature as many as 20 examples of the I-Pace eTrophy. Details about Jag’s newest race car are still predominantly under wraps until at least 2018, but we do know that it will be built by Jaguar SVO in the U.K.
With that said, the initial debuting of this new race car stands as an increased effort being put forth by Land Rover and Jaguar to electrify its entire lineup of new cars starting in 2020. And, with the Brits planning to ban ICE cars by 2040 altogether, the I-Pace and I-Pace eTrophy set Jaguar up nicely to be prepared for that inevitable moment 23 years from now. The I-Pace eTrophy also comes along as the basis for the world’s first production battery electric vehicle racing series – the first step in what will eventually redefine racing as we know it. But, we’re getting a little too far ahead of ourselves, so let’s take the time to take a look at the new I-Pace eTrophy race car and talk about what we can expect from Jaguars latest pet project.
