2017 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY
Jaguar’s “Pace” lineup has grown quite quickly, with the F-Pace winning the hearts of many, and the E-Pace – the baby of the lineup – coming to life for the 2018 model year. Both of these models, however, make use of gasoline or diesel engines for motivation. Recently, however, Jaguar debuted the I-Pace Concept, a vehicle that, once put into production, will sit at the top of the lineup with its sedan-like proportions and two electric motors – the same ones that delivered 394 horsepower and 516 pound-feet in the concept. It seems that we’re actually getting a look at a high-performance version of the I-Pace long before we actually see the production car, all thanks to Formula E and a race series that will feature as many as 20 examples of the I-Pace eTrophy. Details about Jag’s newest race car are still predominantly under wraps until at least 2018, but we do know that it will be built by Jaguar SVO in the U.K.
With that said, the initial debuting of this new race car stands as an increased effort being put forth by Land Rover and Jaguar to electrify its entire lineup of new cars starting in 2020. And, with the Brits planning to ban ICE cars by 2040 altogether, the I-Pace and I-Pace eTrophy set Jaguar up nicely to be prepared for that inevitable moment 23 years from now. The I-Pace eTrophy also comes along as the basis for the world’s first production battery electric vehicle racing series – the first step in what will eventually redefine racing as we know it. But, we’re getting a little too far ahead of ourselves, so let’s take the time to take a look at the new I-Pace eTrophy race car and talk about what we can expect from Jaguars latest pet project.

Jaguar Gets Racy With The I-Pace eTrophy
Imagine for a second what a Jaguar I-Pace will look like if Jaguar decided to turn it into a race car. I suppose it’ll be dripping with active aerodynamics, maybe even get a fancy color with racing stripes and company decals. It’s a good interpretation, except that we won’t have to imagine it because Jaguar actually did it. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Frankfurt-bound I-Pace eTrophy, a prototype version of a racy-looking I-Pace that’s looking to devour the competition, a full-blown racer that will compete exclusively in the newly created I-Pace eTrophy series.
Judging by the way it looks - it’s positively menacing - it’s easy to forget that the I-Pace eTrophy is still an electric car at its roots. The quasi-SUV does have adequate power to justify its billing, thanks in large part to a 90 kWh battery and four electric motors (one on each axle) that combine to produce a total output of 400 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. It’s unclear if the I-Pace eTrophy carries the same power and performance credentials, but if it’s able to perform as well as it looks, I expect the new I-Pace eTrophy support racing series for Formula E to be as exciting as it sounds. At the very least, the sight of seeing 20 of them on a racing grid is more than enough to get me interested in the series.

2017 Jaguar Future-Type Concept
In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s no shortage of predictions when it comes time to guess what’ll happen when autonomous driving technology really takes off. One of the more popular projections is a dramatic change to the current car ownership model, with shared, on-demand vehicles taking a bite out of the high costs of car ownership that we know today. In a lot of ways, it makes sense, and now, Jaguar is jumping on the bandwagon with the new Future-Type Concept. Framed as an all-inclusive solution to the passenger transportation needs of the year 2040, the Future-Type mates advanced AI, fully autonomous driving capabilities, social sharing, on-demand ride summoning, and electric power, all with the traditional Jaguar elegance, refinement, and excitement. Or so it would seem.
“Future-Type offers an insight into the potential for driving and car ownership in the future. It’s part of our vision for how a luxury car brand could continue to be desirable, in a more digital and autonomous age,” according to Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar. 2016 Jaguar I-Pace Concept
Jaguar entered a new era in 2013, when it launched the F-Type and revived the sporty and innovative spirit it had lost in recent decades. The British company made another step into the future in 2015, when the F-Pace became the first SUV to wear the iconic "Cat" logo. Come 2016 and Jaguar is ready to take a new step into the future, this time with an all-electric vehicle. It’s called the I-Pace, it’s only a concept for now, but will become a production model for the 2018 model year.
Unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the I-Pace is loosely based on the F-Pace styling-wise, but ditches Jaguar’s already familiar four-cylinder, V-6, and V-8 powerplants for a pair of electric motors and a battery pack. The I-Pace will become Jaguar’s first-ever electric vehicle when it hits public roads and will essentially bring to fruition the electrification process that the company began back in 2010 with the C-X75 concept.
The I-Pace was created and developed by Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director and the man who has previously penned cars such as the Aston Martin DB7 and DB9, Jaguar XK, XF, and XJ, as well as the F-Type sports car. Callum also designed the Ford RS200 and Nissan R390 race cars.
Described as a smart five-seater that’s "a performance car, a family car, and an SUV all in one," the I-Pace grants Jaguar entry to the electric car segment, and if performance figures are any indication, the popular Tesla Model X will finally get a worthy competitor.
Updated 03/15/2017: Jaguar dropped a series of new images showing the I-Pace concept in action on the streets of London. Also the company confirmed that the I-Pace will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and will have a driving range of about 500 kilometers.

2003 Jaguar XF-10
In 2003, Fuore Design debuted the Jaguar XF-10 concept car at the Barcelona Motor Show. The study was framed as an amalgamation between the two-seater Jags created in the ‘50s, and more contemporary Formula 1 race cars, combining old-school class with cutting edge go-fast technology. The Fuore team, lead by designer Erwin Leo Himmel, created the XF-10 with complete independence from Jaguar, merely asking for the marque’s permission in using the Jaguar brand name and badging. The goal was to persuade Jag to create something production-ready that mirrored the concept in shape and substance, as well as show off Fuore’s design chops. The result is a one-off two-seater sports car with unique styling and gobs of performance potential.
Taking a trip through the XF-10’s origins requires a passport and a translator – the “make” is British, the design team is Spanish, the lead designer is Austrian, and the builder (Modarte) is Italian.
That’s a lot of flags to pin to one name, which begs the question – does the XF-10 walk away feeling cohesive, or more like a big jumble of parts?

When it comes to awesome concept cars that should have made it into production, the Jaguar C-X75 was arguably one of the most impressive vehicles to hit showroom floors in the 21st century. Developed as a spiritual successor of the XJ220, the C-X75 was not only gorgeous to look at, but was also packed with state-of-the-art technology.
Its drivetrain alone was impressive, as it combined four electric motors and micro gas turbines as range extenders. The motors produced up to 780 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque, while the micro gas turbines supplied by Bladon Jets extended the range of the supercar from 68 to 559 miles.
Though Jaguar cancelled its plans to produce 250 examples in 2012, the C-X75 lives on as many of its innovative technologies find their way into performance Jaguars. What’s more, its stunning design landed the C-X75 an appearance in the latest installment of the James Bond series, "Spectre," as the villain’s car. With the new movie having just premiered in the Americas, Jaguar commissioned Williams Martini Racing driver Felipe Massa to take the supercar on a spin ahead of the Mexico Grand Prix in Mexico City.
After a few laps and donuts at the track, the Brazilian driver found the C-X75 to be quite an impressive car. Hit "play" to find out why.
The 24th installment of the James Bond franchise, set to be called "Spectre," will feature an array of eye candy for car enthusiasts, as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced that three of its special vehicles will appear in the movie. We already knew that Aston Martin’s DB10 will be the new "Bond car," but the three JLR models are likely to be equally rewarding for car fans. I say this since these will not be stock vehicles, but ones provided by Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, which is kind of like a skunkworks team for the British company.
The breathtaking Jaguar C-X75 concept will feature in a car chase through Rome alongside Bond’s Aston Martin DB10, with Jaguar mentioning that a number of C-X75 models have been built specifically for the film in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. Unlike the original electric-gas turbine concept car, the C-X75 used in "Spectre" will be powered by a supercharged, 5.0-liter, V-8, so expect some old-school exhaust sounds during the chase sequence.
The other two JLR vehicles to make an appearance are a Range Rover Sport SVR and a heavily modified Land Rover Defender, both of which have already finished filming for "Spectre" in Austria. As some of you know, the Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest and most powerful production Landie ever, but I have a feeling that the Defender will leave a more lasting impression on movie-goers, thanks to its lifted chassis and 37-inch off-road tires.

One of the most unique concept cars of the past decade came from a company that wasn’t doing particularly well at that time. Back then, Jaguar wasn’t as awesome as it is now, but in 2004, design house Fuore Design put Jag on the map with unveiling of the Blackjag Concept. Touted as the spiritual successor of the XF10, the now-defunct Fuore Design touted the Blackjag Concept as a mid-engine, two-seater supercar that showcased the immense performance potential Jaguar had at that time but failed to tap into. The concept was, in a lot of ways, a showcase piece Fuore Design created for the British marquee that eventually amounted to nothing more than hype unfulfilled.
Ten years later, the supercar concept is back in the headlines, albeit for an entirely different reason. That’s because the one-off concept that caused the industry to spazz when it was revealed is now up for sale.
The price for the privilege of owning it? $3.8 million.
While that number sounds exorbitant for a 10-year-old, one-off concept, the Blackjag isn’t like any other concept Jaguar has produced since then. Plus, there’s only one model like it in the world and unlike its announced 640-horsepower output back in 2004, the selling page of the Blackjag Concept touts it as having 900 horsepower under its hood. We’re really interested to know where those extra 260 ponies came from.

Over the past couple of years, Jaguar’s design overhaul has yielded some pretty impressive models and it’s worth noting that the company’s promise to reinvent itself as a sharper and edgier brand has turned into a resounding success.
With new models like the F-Type Roadster, and concepts like the C-X16 and Project 7, the British brand has been on some kind of roll lately.
Continuing on the "C-X" nomenclature, Jag is gearing up for its latest concept offering, which will be shown at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. It’s been dubbed the C-X17 Concept, and it previews the company’s first-ever five-door crossover. The concept will also preview a highly-advanced modular aluminum architecture set to be put into production in 2015 with the company’s new sedan.

Details about the new Jaguar XQ-type midsize crossover are emerging from Coventry ahead of the $45,000 model’s expected debut next month in Frankfurt. Exclusive TopSpeed renderings offer a speculative glimpse at the styling of this make-or-break next generation of aluminum models.
Twinned with the XQ-type is the Q-type sedan, which will be the smallest models in Jaguar’s range outside of the F-type sports cars. The XQ-type aims for the sweet spot of the premium crossover market occupied by the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, each of which are formidable competition for Jaguar’s first American family SUV.
Fast-tracking the XQ-type’s ‘PLA’ code name aluminum chassis and body panels means this new compact benefits from both a nimble chassis and the best current and future components in the Jaguar Land Rover parts bin. Both the XF’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the supercharged V-6 are expected, with the latter to offer Jag’s new Instinctive AWD as seen on both the U.S.-market XF and XJ.
A sporty bias for The XQ-type offers enough space between this model and the Land Rover SUVs, and the XQ is even likely to run as a rear-drive model in base configurations.
The XQ’s performance will be closely benchmarked against its German rivals, with further R and R-S options on the table. The beauty of this chopped-length PLA architechture, which will also underpin the new XF and XK, is that even the compact models will be quite wide and should be able to fit the firm’s rorty supercharged V-8 under that shapely ’bonnet.’

When Jaguar promised to bring a design study of the F-Type to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, few people had any inkling that the British automaker was talking about this car.
This is the Project 7, a fully-functional, high-performance sports car (translation: it’s not a concept) that highlights the automaker’s new F-Type roadster while also paying homage to its winning tradition at Le Mans that saw the automaker take home the title seven times between 1951-1990 - a record for a British manufacturer.
Notice that the blue paintwork of the Project 7 looks like a classic shade turned up for a modern purpose. That’s not an accident because this same color is reminiscent of the victorious Jaguar D-types of 1956/1957. Pretty interesting historical fact, huh?
And like we’ve already mentioned, the basis for the Project 7 is the F-Type, particularly the latter’s rigid all-aluminum architecture, providing the perfect starting point for Jaguar to add some tweaks and modifications and giving birth to quite a stunning sports car.

Jaguar just revealed plans to unveil "an exciting design study" at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed set to take place at the end of this week. According to the first details we have on it, the model will be based on the F-Type roadster and will be driven up the Goodwood Hill by the company’s Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross.
While these were all the official details revealed by Jaguar, we presume that this will be some kind of preview for the upcoming F-Type R version; or even better, the previously rumored 700-horsepower F-Type R-S.
It is also worthy of note that this could simply be the debut of the F-Type Coupe. However, we don’t think that Jaguar would make a huge fuss over attaching a fixed-top roof to the F-Type. Also pointing to this being the R or R-S variant is the fact that Jag will put on display three other R and R-S variants of other models, including: XFR-S, XJR and XKR-S GT.

We know that the Jaguar C-X75 supercar won’t make it to production. We’ve accepted the idea and we are no longer angry ay Jag for eliminating the possibility. The good news that we just heard about the concept’s F1-derived 500-horsepower 1.6-litre turbo engine possibly being used in a future production model certainly helped us get over our disappointment.
in an interview with PistonHeads, Cosworth’s principal engineer Andy Ball said that the company is preparing a four-cylinder engine for next year. Ball chose not to elaborate on his statement, but since Jaguar already used it in the C-X75, the big cat may be first in line to use it.
What he did said about the engine is that it will "have similar specific power as a Formula 1 engine of 300 horsepower per liter." Next, Cosworth will need to work on the road-going engine’s longevity a little bit, as F1 engines typically need routine rebuilds after just a few races. Ball said: "We’re very good at taking engines of the limit and knowing where that limit is."
It’s more telling that Cosworth’s announcement comes shortly after Jaguar’s global brand director, Adrian Hallmark said "With projects like C-X75 we are laying the foundations for the next generation of Jaguar innovations."

At the 2010 Paris Auto Show Jaguar showed off the C-X75 concept car, but we’re pretty sure all of you remember that. As all of you also remember, theC-X75 never made it to production.
To remind us once again what a great car the C-X75 could have been, Jaguar unveiled a new video (above) showing that amazing concept car.
The development of the concept car took over 2 years and the result was the most innovative and technologically advanced prototype ever created. The C-X75 pushes every boundary of power, performance and even fuel efficiency.
It was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine delivering 502 horsepower. Additionally, it featured two electric motors that added another 390 horsepower. With a combined output of 850 horsepower, the C-X75 could sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and went up to a top speed of 205 mph.
Jaguar and Land Rover showed up to the Goodwood Festival of Speed ready to tackle naysayers with an ultra-low carbon XJ_e plug-in hybrid engineering research project. The goals of these automakers was to demonstrate how an advanced parallel plug-in hybrid design can deliver reductions in CO2 emissions of over 70% without impacting the car’s performance.
The new XJ_e research vehicle is powered by an advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system that combines an efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, with a 92 HP generator and a 12.8kWh Lithium Ion battery pack. It offers an electric-only range of 25 miles, and, in hybrid mode, can travel up to 679 miles with a fuel consumption of 87mpg. This can all be achieved while still hitting the 0-60 mph mark in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited).
Bob Joyce, Engineering Director, JLR, commented: "The XJ_e investigates how a 5.0-litre V8 engine could be replaced by an advanced 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain to deliver similar performance and refinement, but with CO2 emissions of less than 75g/km. While the XJ_e is an experimental project, it highlights that JLR customers can expect some exciting low-carbon products in the future."
Italian coach builder, Bertone, rarely makes waves, but when they do, they have a propensity to just take your breath away. Incidentally, the last we heard from these guys was when they unveiled the Jaguar B99 Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
Now, Bertone returns to Geneva with a new concept in tow, one that’s being called the "Concept Nuccio." Making things extra special this year is the fact that Bertone is celebrating their centennial anniversary, and to commemorate this huge milestone, they came to Geneva locked, stocked, and ready to rock.
The concept was named ’Nuccio’ in honor of Nuccio Bertone, the son of company patriarch Giovanni Bertone. It was designed as an evolution of the company’s "cab forward" that started with the 1967 Alfa Romeo Carabo, the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero, and the 1973 Lamborghini Countach. The concept combines elements from the three concepts in an attempt to create a modern, sporty, and "extreme," fully functional sports car.

On the heels of the public clamoring for a production version of the Lexus LF-LC, we’d like to throw our two cents in on what concept we’d love to see on the road soon.
The Jaguar C-X16 Concept.
This new promo video featuring the aforementioned concept only strengthens our undying infatuation for it. "Smooth is Fast" is what the video says, and if we do say so ourselves, we’d give anything to be sitting in the driver’s seat of that bad boy.
The good news is that there’s a strong indication that we’ll see the C-X16 beyond its concept guise because a Jaguar insider has confirmed that the car is inching closer to production and that Jaguar is doing all it can to ensure that everything about the car passes all the stringent safety and crash tests before its green lighted for production.
We certainly hope that Jaguar really pushes through with the concept. Their recent revival has become turned them into a player in the industry and the C-X16 is the kind of car that can really push them over the top against its competitors.
There are so many auto shows throughout the course of the year that it’s hard to keep up with all of the cool concepts brought to each one. Then again, some of these concepts are so outlandish that they will never see the light of production day anyway, leaving us with the feeling of being offered a delectable chocolate cake only to be reminded of our New Year’s weight loss resolution.
Even if production chances are slim for some, concepts hold a special place in all of our hearts because of the attention to detail automakers put into them. Automakers use these concepts to put out just how much they are capable of doing and quite possibly may do on their future models.
From three different, color coordinated layers of information to V12 engines with spectacular power outputs, concepts have a way of getting underneath our skin and staying there until the production model is attained. This year, our choices are unmistakable and in no particular order: the Jaguar C-X16 Concept, the BMW i8 Concept, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato Concept, the Chevrolet Mi-Ray Concept, and the Nissan Juke Nismo Concept.

Earlier this month, we reported on a tidbit that Jaguar was going to the Frankfurt Motor Show with a new sports car concept in tow. Now, thanks to full specifications released by the company ahead of the show, we have a clear picture of what the British automaker is bringing to the biggest auto show in the calendar.
The concept is called the ’C-X16’ and has been described as a production concept that will serve as the prototype for future Jaguar sports cars. This car "aims to set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology."
Some have speculated that this model will serve as the successor to the XK while others have reported that it’s a completely new model that has the Porsche 911 in its sights. These new specifications, while impressive, don’t exactly spell worthy competition for the new 911.
UPDATE 09/15/11: Jaguar has unveiled a new video for the C-X16 concept just after its official debut in Frankfurt. Also, for those of you who can not be in Germany these day for the show, you should check www.jaguarfuture.com to learn more about the C-X16.
UPDATE 11/18/11: The smokin’ hot Jaguar C-X16 Concept made its North American debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. To our surprise, as well as many others we presume, the car that Jaguar brought to Frankfurt was different from the concept we just saw at LA with the latter sporting a new Neuron White exterior paint finish to go along with all the fancy digs the C-X16 already has in its fold. UPDATE 11/29/11: A Jaguar insider has confirmed to TeamSpeed that the C-X16 concept is inches closer to mass production. The same source has told that Jaguar is currently working on the seat frames "to ensure the car will pass stringent crash tests."
The 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show is still over a month away, but automakers are beginning to feed information to the press to draw in visitors. One such semi-confirmed rumor is this: Jaguar is expected to show a new sports car concept in Frankfurt, and that car is said to form the highlight of Jaguar’s exhibit at the show. While Jaguar steadfastly refused to either confirm or deny rumors, it’s likely that the new car will be a smaller, less expensive alternative to the current Jaguar XK.
To grow sales, Jaguar has long wanted a car that could compete with the likes of the Porsche Boxster or the Infiniti G37 Convertible. If British auto magazine Autocar is correct, the car that Jaguar is showing at Frankfurt has been in development for quite some time, and “will blow the rest of the industry away” when it is revealed.
Rumored to be called the Jaguar XE, the car will likely use a V-6 engine with twin sequential turbochargers. Horsepower or performance numbers are anyone’s guess, but to make a big enough wave in the industry, the XE would need to cost less than the Porsche Boxster while providing noticeably better acceleration, braking and handling. That’s a tall order, especially when you’re comparing a front-engine, rear drive car to a mid-engine, rear drive car that’s known to be among the world’s best-handling.
Jaguar’s own official statement on the matter is typically British, with a company spokesman saying simply, “Jaguar has bold plans for the future, the next stage of which will be revealed at the Frankfurt show. We are likely to have a concept car to announce there.”
In other words, look for the revolutionary new Jaguar XE to debut in concept form at next month’s Frankfurt Auto Show.
Of all the concept cars scheduled to appear at the Geneva Motor Show, nothing intrigued us more than Bertone’s B99 Jaguar Concept.
Not only did we have high expectations for it because of the company’s history at the Geneva Motor Show, but more importantly, we didn’t know a whole lot about this car. Sure, there have been some birds chirping about a Jaguar concept by Bertone called the ’B99’, but it wasn’t until the luxury concept was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show that we finally got a really good look at it.
To be clear, the B99 isn’t a production car - at least not yet - but a conceptual proposal for a ’baby’ Jaguar model that will feature a traditional four-door sedan body with more classic proportions and styling cues than the XJ and XF.
Seeing as this is a concept, the B99 still has a ways to go before it is given the green light for production. But from what we’ve seen of the car so far, we wouldn’t be surprised if this mysterious concept finds its way past a pipe dream and into production lines real soon.

UPDATE 03/08/11: According to Automotive News, Jaguar was not impressed by the B99 concept and will not put it to production: "It is not our concept. We appreciate the fact that Jaguar is interesting enough for people to do a concept around. It’s not that we are offended by it, or against it — it is just not for us." Jaguar has plans to enter new market segments by 2014, but this will be done with their own work: "We have concepts all over the place. A lot of work has been done," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director.
