2017 Jaguar Future-Type Concept
In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s no shortage of predictions when it comes time to guess what’ll happen when autonomous driving technology really takes off. One of the more popular projections is a dramatic change to the current car ownership model, with shared, on-demand vehicles taking a bite out of the high costs of car ownership that we know today. In a lot of ways, it makes sense, and now, Jaguar is jumping on the bandwagon with the new Future-Type Concept. Framed as an all-inclusive solution to the passenger transportation needs of the year 2040, the Future-Type mates advanced AI, fully autonomous driving capabilities, social sharing, on-demand ride summoning, and electric power, all with the traditional Jaguar elegance, refinement, and excitement. Or so it would seem.
“Future-Type offers an insight into the potential for driving and car ownership in the future. It’s part of our vision for how a luxury car brand could continue to be desirable, in a more digital and autonomous age,” according to Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar. 2018 Jaguar XJR575
The Jaguar XJ has been around since 1968 and has been Jaguar’s prized flagship for the last 47 years. Over the years, it has seen three generational shifts, if you don’t count the various series’ produced within each generation. The current and fourth generation has been around since 2009, so it’s getting a little long in the tooth. It still looks good, though, and is fairly modern, with an update taking place for 2017 that brought some new technology, a revised exterior look, and a number of new trim levels to choose from. Jaguar has chosen to forgo the generational shift just yet, but for 2018, the XJ does get a new update in the form of a brand new trim level that brings a 5.0-liter V-8 that’s good for 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet – enough to get the new XJR575 up to its top speed of 186 mph in just 44 seconds while the sprint to 60 mph takes just 4.4 seconds, making the XJR575 the fasted and most powerful road-going production Jaguar to date.
Along with the new trim level, the XJ line also gets some new intelligent safety features and technology that includes a 10-inch touchscreen display, new infotainment operating system, forward traffic detection, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and drive condition monitoring. That seems like a lot of new stuff to infuse into a model that’s creeping up on 10 years old, but you’ve got to hand it to Jaguar for designing a model that’s capable of lasting this long and upgradeable enough to remain relevant in a constantly evolving market. So, with that said, let’s dive on in and take a good look and Jaguar’s newest, fastest, and best XJ model to date.
Update 9/6/2017: Jaguar has decided to offer the XJR575 here in the U.S. and it starts out at $122,400. But, there’s quite a few options to choose from and some decisions to make, so check out the pricing section below to learn all about those and see what a fully-speced XJR575 will cost you outside of a divorce, of course.
Jaguar Travels The World To Show The People Of Dull And Boring The F-Type: Video
Believe it or not, but the world is a pretty interesting place. It’s so interesting that there are actual places in the world that have some unique names. Take Boring, Oregon and Dull, Scotland as two examples. They’re not exactly bustling cities. In fact, Dull is literally made up of a single street and has a population of no more than 100 people. Boring, on the other hand, is a megacity by comparison, though its population is less than 8,000 residents. Well, Jaguar has paired the towns together in what it calls the "Pair for the Ages." So why exactly did Jaguar pick these map dots? Because where else would the Jaguar F-Type stand out so well?
The F-Type’s visit is all part of a promotional campaign by Jaguar to bring some life to these desolate places. The visit itself is newsworthy on its own, but Jaguar took it a step further by inviting residents of both Dull, Scotland and Boring, Oregon to give the sports car a spin. The results are what you’d expect. The four people who were given the opportunity to drive and ride the F-Type had the time of their lives. On top go that, they also caused a few scenes in the towns, thanks in large part to the rip-roaring noise of the F-Type’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The whole video is a good example of Jaguar’s growing cheekiness as a company. It’s funny and informative at the same time (I didn’t even know there was a Dull, Scotland and Boring, Oregon). Best of all, the video gave the residents of the two towns a good idea on what the F-Type is all about itself. Hopefully, next time, Jaguar can petition the League of Extraordinary Communities – an actual organization – to head to the third community of these pairings: Bland, New South Wales, Australia. Who knows, the league could grow if it adds Ordinary, Maine, U.S. into the fold.
2019 Jaguar E-Pace SVR
Having struggled for many decades with few and often outdated products, Jaguar made a big step toward getting back on the horse by launching its first-ever SUV, the F-Pace. Inspired by the F-Type sports car, the F-Pace received a smaller brother, called the E-Pace, in 2017. Designed to compete against the likes of the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the E-Pace is not yet in dealerships as of July 2017, but we’re already thinking about what versions Jaguar might release soon. Obviously, a beefed-up SVR variant is at the top of our list.
Would an E-Pace SVR make sense right now? Definitely. At this point, you can’t have too many SUVs, especially performance-oriented, premium ones. Now you could argue that the E-Pace SVR might not have many competitors to go against in this niche, but that’s exactly the point. Jaguar can become one of the first to step in this market instead of doing what it usually does: following the path laid by others. But of course, this means that Jaguar must move fast and launch the E-Pace SVR before BMW rolls out the X1 M and takes some market share from the Mercedes-AMG GLA45 and Audi RS Q3. And while Jaguar has yet to confirm a small SVR, we went ahead and created a rendering to go with our speculative review.

2018 Jaguar E-Pace
Jaguar went on record back in May of 2015, saying it wanted a baby crossover to slot in below the F-Pace. It took a couple of years, and a few teasers to get to this point, but we’re finally here, and Jaguar has delivered its promise in typical Jag fashion. Sporting a simple, yet perfectly defined body and a technologically advanced cabin that’s as plush as it is attractive, Jaguar has practically redefined the compact SUV segment. With tons of interior space for its size, a sophisticated suspension system that provides a smooth ride, and a range of 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines that deliver as little as 147 horsepower or as much as 295 horsepower. But, there’s one major Caveat, it’s set to start out around $38,600 in entry-level form, and that puts it a bit more expensive than models like the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA that it competes with.
With that in mind, you need to know that the E-Pace is a really big deal. It’s bigger brother; the F-Pace, has grown in sales by 44 percent through May of 2017, meaning that Jaguar’s design language and style philosophy is right in line with what the masses want. And, when you consider that luxury segment buyers are pretty picky, that’s saying a lot for a market that’s so crowded with SUVs at the current time. Needless to say, the E-Pace has a lot to live up to and, based on first impressions, I have to say this thing is going to be an amazing success, but we’ll talk more about that later. Does it have what it takes to put the X1 and GLA in their place, even with a significantly higher price tag? Well, let’s dive on in and take a good look to find out.
Jaguar E-Pace Sets Record For Farthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle
It’s hard to have a more successful world debut than what the Jaguar E-Pace just had. You would think that being the second SUV in Jaguar’s lineup would be enough to catch people’s attention, right? Nope. Jaguar had to do something different, and it did just that by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest barrel roll of any production vehicle, doing so by hitting a 50 foot-long jump and completing a 270-degree corkscrew in the process. The world record itself is impressive, but it’s really old hat for Jaguar, which has made a habit of setting world records upon the debuts of its new models. Remember, the Jaguar F-Pace also launched itself in the record books when it set the loop-the-loop record with a measurement of 62.6 feet during its launch in 2015.
Renowned stunt driver Terry Grant took the wheel of the E-Pace during the barrel roll attempt, which was an excellent choice as Grant owns 24 Guinness World Records. Think the E-Pace’s barrel roll record is his crowning achievement? That’s up for debate since he also owns the aforementioned loop-the-loop record with the F-Pace, not to mention his other records, including driving a Nissan Juke on two wheels and going 55 mph for 1.6 miles while piloting the Nissan Leaf. This new world record set by the E-Pace is the perfect showcase of the new SUV’s agility and performance capabilities. It’s hard to imagine any kind of real-world application as far as barrel-rolling is concerned, but then again, a record is a record and Jag’s new SUV can now be considered a legitimate world record-holder.

Jaguar Pulls The Covers Off Of The New E-Pace, Officially Establishes SUV Family
The Jaguar F-Pace represents Jag’s first foray into the SUV market and it’s been an unbridled success. It’s received rave reviews, posted strong sales numbers, and was even named the 2017 World Car of the Year back in April. Needless to say, the follow-up model would have enormous shoes to fill. That model has now arrived, and from the looks of things, the all-new Jaguar E-Pace is going to do just fine slotting in below the F-Pace in Jag’s now-potent crossover and SUV lineup.
The entry-level premium crossover officially made its world debut in London and there’s already growing confidence among Jaguar execs that it has another hit on its hands with the new E-Pace. The crossover won’t have an easy time at it, though, because it’s entering a market that already features entrenched models like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes GLA-Class, and Porsche Macan. Don’t expect Jag’s new crossover to shrink away from the competition, not when it has the F-Pace’s pedigree and some technical assistance from Jaguar’s sister company Land Rover, regarded as the godfather of today’s modern crossovers and SUVs. All things considered, the Jaguar E-Pace has all the tools to be as successful as its big brother. The more important question to ask is if it’s good enough for World Car of the Year consideration. It’s too early to say at this point, but the signs are there for the E-Pace to have a similar trajectory as the F-Pace. It just has to prove it’s worth all the hype.

2019 Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar entered a new era in 2013 when it launched the F-Type and regained the sporty and innovative spirit it had lost in recent decades. The British company made another big step into the future in 2015, when the F-Pace became the first SUV to wear the "Cat" logo. In 2016, Jaguar unveiled yet another crossover, this time around in the shape of an all-electric crossover. Dubbed I-Pace, it previewed the company’s first-ever battery-powered production model. Come 2018, and the I-Pace made its debut as the brand’s first production model to work on electricity alone.
Unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the I-Pace concept was loosely based on the F-Pace styling-wise but ditched Jaguar’s already familiar four-cylinder, V-6, and V-8 powerplants for a pair of electric motors and a battery pack. Less than 18 months later and the concept morphed (without too many changes) into a production car that will probably tackle the Tesla Model X on the premium market. Designed from the outset as an electric vehicle and described as a smart five-seater that’s "a performance car, a family car, and an SUV all in one," the I-Pace brings to fruition the electrification process that the company began back in 2010 with the C-X75 concept. Could Jaguar Have A Mystery Unveiling Planned At Goodwood?
Count Jaguar in as one of the many automakers that will be in attendance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s not exactly ground-breaking news though, is it? Well, it appears that Jag isn’t coming to Lord March’s estate empty-handed as rumors are circulating that the company is coming with a new version of its XJ sedan.
Now, this isn’t actually a rumor in the traditional sense because Jaguar itself announced such plans. What’s been left in the dark is what kind of version of the XJ this mysterious model is going to be. The only thing Jag hinted at is that it will be a new “derivative” of the luxury sedan and that it will use the Festival of Speed’s famous Hill Climb event to complete its final testing phase. Other than that, we’re left to our own imaginative devices to speculate on what derivative of the XJ this model is going to be. Could it be a new performance-oriented XJR? Maybe something out of Jag’s SVO division to sit alongside the XE SV Project 8? There’s also the possibility that with the current generation XJ nearing its life cycle, Jag might be developing this mystery XJ as a last hurrah of sorts - like perhaps an ultra luxurious final edition model? There are plenty of different directions that this mysterious XJ could go so predicting what it’s bringing to the table at Goodwood will likely amount to nothing. We’ll know the answer soon enough.

2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8
When Jaguar unveiled the XE back in 2015, rumors of a high-performance version surfaced almost immediately. With the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division having already launched a couple of cars, it was only natural to assume that Jaguar would develop an XE SVR to go against the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63. However, the SVR has yet to make it into production, just as Jaguar has yet to launch a V-8-powered version of the car. But, the wait will be over come 2017, as the British firm has just confirmed that the XE has gained a supercharged V-8 under the "SV Project 8" badge.
If "Project 8" sounds familiar it’s because it’s the second limited-edition vehicle from SVO, following the F-Type Project 7 from 2014. The really big news here is that Project 8 is significantly more powerful than Project 7. With output close to 600 horsepower, the beefed-up sedan is officially the most powerful Jaguar ever made. The company also promises "supercar performance and dynamics in a four-door sedan," which makes Project 8 as exciting as they get. An official debut is scheduled at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 30, but Jaguar has already released spec sheets and photos.

2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Unveiled
Jaguar just dropped details on its latest SVO-tuned monster, the XE SV Project 8, an eight-cylinder, AWD, four-door cruise missile jam-packed with go-fast stuff. As a reminder, SVO stands for Special Vehicle Operation, which is Jag’s skunk works division. The Project 8 follows in the footsteps of the F-Type Project 7 from 2014, and is definitely a worthy second act.
Here are the specs. Carbon fiber and aluminum are everywhere, with composites for the hood and bumpers. The body gets flared wheel arches and 20-inch aluminum wheels in the corners, while the aero is very much track-ready, with an adjustable front splitter, adjustable rear spoiler, flat underbody, and rear diffuser. Under the hood is a 592-horse supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 featuring a Titanium Variable Active exhaust. Top speed is rated at 200 mph, while 0-to-60 mph is done in 3.3 seconds, making Project 8 the quickest Jag ever produced. The suspension gets a manually adjustable ride height, while multiple Driveline Dynamics settings help fine tune your set-up for track duty. Throwing the anchor are carbon ceramic brakes, plus there are silicon nitride ceramic wheel bearings, which are similar to what’s used in Formula 1. The cabin gets a four-seater layout in the U.S., while elsewhere, the Project 8 gets race buckets and a harness bar. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is set to make its first public debut later this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Sales will be worldwide, although production is set at just 300 units total.

2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake
Introduced in 2007 to replace the ageing S-Type, the Jaguar XF was redesigned for the 2016 model year. The makeover brought an evolutionary restyling but turned the four-door sedan in a sportier proposition on the outside and a more luxurious vehicle on the inside. The XF also received new drivetrains, most notably the company’s recently launched 2.0-liter four-cylinder in both gasoline and diesel formats. The 3.0-liter V-6 was also carried over, but with significant upgrades. Unlike the first-generation model, the second-gen XF arrived without a wagon version. This changed for the 2018 model year when Jaguar launched a redesigned XF Sportbrake.
Making things that much better, it’s available in the U.S. too!
The Sportbrake’s return is a bit surprising, especially since Ian Callum, Jaguar’s director of design, once predicted the death of the station wagon. But, while I’d like to know what made him change his mind, I’m actually glad that the Sportbrake is back in dealerships and especially in the U.S., where the midsize market was limited to just two models, with a couple more available in other niches. Sure, it’s still ridiculous, but with three different products in the premium market, we finally have some proper action going on.
