The Chinese market got an early look at the new-generation Jeep Cherokee earlier this year. If our Chinese friends are paying attention to the Beijing Auto Show->ke2062, they might find the Cherokee even more appealing with the debut of the Cherokee Sageland Concept. Featuring a bevy of cosmetic changes on the exterior and the interior, the Cherokee Sageland Concept really does bring out the best in the SUV->ke145.

For this specific concept, Jeep->ke40 drew inspiration from a region in China->ke2090 that's considered more of a legend than an actual location: Shangri-La.

It's an ambitious task considering that the historical landmarks and natural sceneries in Shangri-La is more a myth than anything else. But give props to Jeep for embracing the challenge of turning the Cherokee with an aesthetic upgrade that will draw the curious side of the Chinese people.

Considering that we're not really big fans of the Cherokee's new look, we have to admit that the Sageland Concept does a good job of drawing attention away from its overwhelming appearance, making the SUV look, admittedly, quite attractive.

The upgrades shown on the concept actually makes us wonder if the Cherokee really is an acquired taste for some people. At the very least, the Sageland Concept has made us believe that it's actually possible.

The exterior of the Cherokee Sageland Concept features an Ivory Tri-Coat Pearl with matching bronze grille collars, and front and rear fascia appliques. We've never been to Shangri-La like the rest of mankind, but if its colors look even remotely similar to this, sign us up to go there.

In addition to the sexy Ivory Tri-Coat Pearl paint color of the Cherokee Sageland Concept, Jeep also dressed a number of the SUV's exterior components with a Satin Bronze chrome paint. Whether it's from a distance or up close, seeing that bronze chrome on the Daylight Opening (DLO), roof rack, door mirror caps and exhaust tips makes the SUV look that much sexier.

Inside the Cherokee Sageland Concept, Jeep used an earth-tone color palette that continues the Shangri-La inspiration. Combine that with the light, neutral grey Nappa leather seats with red and Water Blue accent stitches and it's easy to get mesmerized by the cabin's colors. Kind of makes us want to just lie down and bask in the beauty of it.

The other notable design of the Cherokee Sageland Concept's interior are the traditional Chinese knot design stitching on the seats and the pattern on the door appliques that was derived from the color and finish of Chinese ornamental door knobs. Looks fancy, but not as captivating as the overall colors of the cabin.
