Yet another Gladiator-based concept to mark its presence at the 2019 Easter Jeep Safari, the Jeep JT Scrambler concept is quite similar to the J6 - a throwback to the Jeep's history. But this time, it's not just about the colors, but also the graphics. The graphics and color combination strongly resonates with the CJ8 Scrambler from the '80s. Just like all the other concepts present at this year's Easter Jeep Safari, this one too is a showpiece to exhibit the Mopar performance parts. Actually, not just the performance parts, but also the bright, orange stickers around the body which are the highlight of this truck.

Carrying over design philosophies for decades together and not making them look boring in any sense is Jeep's strong suit. Despite bearing almost zero changes to the body shape, Jeep has managed to make this Gladiator look like a car from the past. The full sized bumper houses a fog lamp on each side and two auxiliary lights in the middle. The vents on the hood are not as large as seen on the Flatbill concept. Two more LED throw lights have been placed on either side of the hood, close to the windshield.

The profile of the JT Scrambler has side stripes that essentially reminds us of the CJ8 Scrambler. As Jeep calls it, "the Punk’N Metallic Orange and Nacho body-side stripes" run from the front panel to the bed. A similar graphic has been placed on the hood, between the vents. The 17-inch bronze-painted alloys match with the overall scheme of the JT Scrambler. The side sills feature rock rails finished in a non-slip material.

The rear is a standard affair with the set of headlights that's common on literally all the concepts that Jeep has presented this year. Then there's the Jeep logo and the tailgate handle. This version of the roll bar anchors to the bed and also extends the length of the bed rails on each side, offering a total of eight tie-down points to tie down cargo. In contrast, the hardtop roof is painted in 'vintage amber' color that was on the roof of the original Scramblers.

Interior

- Katzkin leather all around - All-weather floor mats - Mopar-special bright pedal kit - No word on an infotainment system - Auxiliary switch bank controls a lot of accessories

Jeep has not revealed any images of the interior yet, but the same color theme as the outside is followed in here as well. The truck is rich on Katzkin leather as it is found on almost all the 'touchable' surfaces in the cabin. The dashboard and the armrest receive the same treatment as the seats. The Scrambler JT receives an auxiliary switch bank, just like the J6, to operate all the LED lights and other accessories. Other Mopar official products that are already available are also present, like the all-weather floor mats and the bight pedal kit.

Drivetrain

- 3.6-liter, V-6 Pentastar mill - Mopar cold-air intake - Cat-back exhaust - Rides on 37-inch tires - Two-inch lift kit

The Jeep JT Scrambler Concept comes with a 3.6-liter, V-6 Pentastar engine under the hood. This engine finds its place in many Jeep products in different states of tune, but under this, we expect it to generate 285 ponies and 260 pound-feet of twist. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Now, is it possible that a Jeep concept truck does not come with Mopar products? We know that's never going to happen. This engine has a performance bump through Mopar cold-air intake present under the hood. Jeep has also installed a cat-back exhaust. Both of these items are available through Mopar for the Gladiator.

The JT Scrambler concept The truck also comes with a two-lift kit, thus helping you maneuver over stones, rocks, boulders, mountains, and anywhere you would want to take it. Thanks to this lift kit, Jeep was able to fit the JT Scrambler on 37-inch wrapped around 17-inch bronze-painted wheels. But because of the full-fledged rear bumper and fairly long rear overhang, the departure angle is not that great despite the two-inch lift kit. And, you will be able to get all of these accessories too because, well, Mopar is awesome.

Final Thoughts

The JT Scrambler, as Jeep describes it, is a heritage-inspired remix. This is the third concept in this year that is basically a tribute or a throwback to previous models from the Jeep's stable. Although this truck does not represent any theme, or dare I say, is not as accomplished as the other concepts revealed, the JT Scrambler surely looks attractive. Other than the performance parts, Jeep should seriously consider streamlining the orange stickers on the newer models. We are sure there are a lot of people who are dreaming of the 'Nachos.'
