We all know it, so there’s no lying about it. The point is that while you can go almost anywhere, there are just some places you really shouldn’t go. And that’s when life, or karma, or lack of common sense in some cases, comes back to kick you right in the teeth. And, kick you it does. 2018 Jeep Grand Commander
Discontinued in 2010 after only five years on the market, Jeep’s seven-seat SUV, the Commander, makes a comeback in 2018. But unlike its predecessor, which was a global model, the new SUV is only available in China. Production also shifted to the Asian country, while the nameplate was updated to the Grand Commander. The midsize hauler was unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show.
The new SUV is heavily based on the Grand Cherokee design-wise, and it appears to be focused more on hauling people rather than off-roading. While the Grand Commander won’t make it to the United States, a three-row SUV will be offered here, but under the Wagoneer name. Jeep plans to build both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models, which will be based on the body-on-frame platform of the latest Ram 1500 truck.
Does the Grand Commander provide hints as to what we will get from the Wagoneer? It’s difficult to say given that the latter is still a couple of years away, but let’s take a closer look at the China-spec SUV for now.

Jeep’s commitment to the Chinese market is now on display at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. Taking up a lot of space is the Jeep Grand Commander, a massive three-row, seven-seater, full-sized SUV that’s itching to take a bite out of the luxury SUV pie in the world’s biggest auto market. The Grand Commander is the latest in a long line of Jeep models that are available in China, including the Compass, Renegade, and the iconic Cherokee.
FCA Can Now Put The Anton Yelchin Case To Rest After Settling With Late Actor’s Family
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the family of Anton Yelchin have finally settled the lawsuit that was filed by the latter over the unfortunate and untimely death of the Star Trek actor. A report from Reuters reveals that the case was wrapped up in Los Angeles Superior Court last week, putting the rest a legal battle that had been ongoing for the last 20 months.
2018 Jeep Sandstorm
With the 2018 Moab Jeep Safari just around the corner, the legendary off-roading brand is introducing a total of seven new concept cars, including several intended to show off the upgradeable potential of the new JL-gen Wrangler. FCA Could Announce Baby Jeep as Well as the Successor to the Jeep Patriot on June 1st
Another day, another piece of news about a new crossover. This time, Jeep takes its turn in the spotlight with plans to launch a new model that would sit below the Renegade, making it Jeep’s new entry-level offering. Word of this development comes from Jeep CEO Mike Manley, who admitted that the prospect of an even smaller car than the Renegade is an appealing proposition, especially in markets like Europe and Latin America.
2018 Jeep 4SPEED
The annual Easter Moab Safari is about to kick off in Utah, and Jeep is celebrating with a variety of tuned-up off-roaders that are ready to tackle the epic scenery. Joining the fun in this beefy-looking dark silver machine dubbed the Jeep 4SPEED, and it brings a host of upgrades designed to cut out some serious weight and make it even more capable on the challenging terrain it’ll face off the beaten path.

2018 Nacho Jeep
Jeep is gearing up for a week of off-roading fun as the annual Moab Safari will soon get underway. As such, the brand is introducing no less than seven 4WD rough-stuff machines, including this yellow creation appropriately dubbed the Nacho Jeep. It’s a spicy combo of upgraded hardware that should perform quite well at the legendary dirt paradise, bringing extra ponies, greater off-road protection, a lifted stance, and beefy 37-inch tires.

2018 Jeep Wrangler J-Wagon
Unveiled in 2017 and put in production in November, the latest-generation Jeep Wrangler is almost six months old. But, while customers were flooding Jeep showrooms to place an order for the JL, the previous-generation Wrangler remained in production until March 2018, for a life-cycle that amounts to almost 12 years, a record for the nameplate. With the JK now officially in the history books, the fourth-generation Wrangler is taking center stage at the 2018 Moab Easter Safari, where Jeep brought various concept vehicles based on the SUV. One of them is the J-Wagon, a premium-styled model that’s as capable on the unbeaten path as it is at home in the urban cityscapes.
Based on the Wrangler Sahara, the J-Wagon was personalized with Jeep Performance Parts and a couple of Mopar features. It’s a closed-roof four-door, which explains the "wagon" in the name, but it’s also equipped for proper off-roading thanks to larger wheels and tires and bespoke rock sliders. While many of the parts are still in concept phase, they will most likely become available to purchase later this year, so the J-Wagon is a good example of how you can customize your next Wrangler.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Jeepster
The annual Moab Easter Safari is a cool event if you like to go off-roading, but it’s an equally important meeting if you’re a big fan of Jeep SUVs. The event is usually packed with cool concept cars from the FCA-owned automaker, with most of them time-based on the popular Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. But, Jeep also built numerous restomods in recent years, including older versions of the Wrangler, the CJ, and even the Grand Wagoneer. For 2018, Jeep prepared a tribute to the 1966 Jeepster using the brand-new Wrangler. And it’s an awesome two-door SUV which proves that Jeep should consider reviving the convertible pickup.
The Jeepster nameplate goes a long way back, having been introduced in 1948 by Willys-Overland Motors. Production ended in 1950, but the name was revived in 1966 by Kaiser-Jeep. The vehicle was actually known as the Jeepster Commando or C101; the Jeepster was turned into a small pickup truck aimed at the International Scout, Ford Bronco, Toyota Land Cruiser. Production ended in 1973, and a replacement wasn’t offered until 1981 when Jeep introduced the CJ-based Scrambler. The Jeepster concept is based on the latest Wrangler Rubicon and was put together using a range of Jeep Performance Parts. Let’s have a closer look below.

2018 Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip
Rumored to return to the market after nearly 30 years, the Wagoneer is not yet visible on the horizon, and a precise date for its unveiling is not yet known. But, Jeep is doing its best to keep the flame burning using the original model, which joins this year’s Moab Easter Safari with modern updates. Specifically, Jeep took a first-generation Wagoneer and gave it the restomod treatment for the annual, Utah-based event, which seems to be the place where the SUV manufacturer likes to bring more and more vehicles of this type. While it doesn’t signal anything related to the modern, upcoming Wagoneer, it’s a strong hint that Jeep doesn’t want to leave this nameplate in the dust.
Called the Wagoneer Roadtrip, this SUV is described as one that "stirs up nostalgic memories of going to Yellowstone National Park on a summer family vacation." Yup, it sure sounds like the 1960s. But don’t let the SUV’s looks fool you. While the exterior is as old-school as it gets, the cabin and the chassis hide plenty of modern upgrades. Jeep Teases New Concepts For Moab Easter Jeep Safari Vehicle
Certain automakers own certain events. In the case of Jeep, that event is the Moab Easter Safari, an annual gathering hosted by the Red-Rock 4-Wheelers off-road club in Moab, Utah. Every year, Jeep comes to the event with concept vehicles in tow. It’s no different this year because we have already received a couple of teaser images of what could be the concept rides the automaker is preparing to bring to the Easter Safari. Jeep didn’t mention which models these concepts will be based on, but judging from the teaser photos, they look to be a pair of JL Wranglers.

Jeep has a long history of producing Super Bowl commercials that resonate with its owners. The automaker’s commercial for Super Bowl LII follows along that same blueprint. There are no celebrities trying to fit inside the SUV to make a pitch. There are no witty lines and slapstick comedy routines. There are, however, plenty of beautiful shots of America’s roads and expansive highway systems. There’s also a brooding voiceover that emphasizes the importance of roads in today’s world and the need to, on some occasions, look past them.
Jeep to Cease Wrangler JK Production Making Way for new JL Pickup
Jeep is scheduled to end production of the outgoing Wrangler JK on April 7, 2018. Both the JK and the all-new 2018 Wrangler JL have been built simultaneously since November, but on separate assembly lines on separate sides of the Jeep campus. However, the JK’s end marks the beginning of the Wrangler JL-based pickup truck, the Scrambler.
Moreover, that means the Scrambler’s official debut is quickly approaching. The 2018 Chicago Auto Show is likely the next-best opportunity. The show is slated for February 8 and 9, so we don’t have long to wait.

Surprise: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Prices Announced
Jeep has announced the pricing for its refreshed 2019 Cherokee mid-size SUV. The reshaped Cherokee debuted earlier this month at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show and wears a more traditional front end that is more likely to appeal to a wider audience. It also has slightly more cargo space and comes with Jeep’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in addition to its carryover 2.4-liter I-4 and 3.2-liter V-6 engines. Its nine-speed automatic and Active Drive 4WD system have been improved for efficiency, as well.
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s base price actually drops $300 in the base Latitude trim to $25,190. Every other trim level, however, sees an increase in price. The Latitude Plus increases by $300 and the Limited trim increases by $680. The two range-topping trims, the off-road-ready Trailhawk and the luxurious Overland jump by $2,425 and $2,280, respectively. That puts the 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk starting at $34,515 and the Overland in FWD at $36,275.
Jeep has streamlined its 4WD costs, with Active Drive I costing $1,500 on all trims except for the Trailhawk, which has its 4WD price baked into its base MSRP. The Trailhawk gets Cherokee’s most advanced 4WD system, Active Drive Lock.
Further adding to a price increase, Jeep added an extra $100 to its destination charge, bringing it to $1,195 for all trim levels.
Our First Full Look at the China-Bound Jeep Grand Commander: Video
Jeep might be as American as apple pie and baseball, but its newest model is headed right for China. It’s called the Grand Commander, and it won’t be found outside China’s borders. Based on a lengthened version of Fiat Chrysler’s CUSW platform that also underpins the Jeep Cherokee, the new Grand Commander will accommodate seven people over three rows.
Jeep is already taking orders for the new SUV despite it not being officially debuted. That is expected to happen at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April before it arrives in showrooms shortly after.

Video of the Day: Seeing the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Through Aftermarket Eyes
Here at TopSpeed.com, we’ve covered the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL seven ways to Sunday. From the first spy shots to our driven review out in Arizona, we’ve seen it all. But there is always more to learn. Denis Wood over at TeraFlex Suspensions took a detailed look at the Wrangler’s greasy bits in a view not even Jeep engineers discussed at the press event.
Of course, Wood’s views are from an aftermarket company’s standpoint. TeraFlex develops, builds, and sells suspension lifts and all the ancillary parts people love to bolt to their Jeeps. TeraFlex knows Wranglers and it knows their weak points. The outgoing Wrangler JK was a fantastic vehicle, but it has some drawbacks. The exhaust crossed under the front driveshaft and the two would collide during extreme off-roading. The fuel system’s evaporation canister hung low on the Jeep’s underbelly and was an easy target for rocks or sticks. Both problem areas have been completely eliminated in the new Wrangler JL, along with dozens more.
Wood’s is an interesting perspective not many get to see. Add to that his silky smooth voice and fatherly demeanor that wouldn’t be misplaced on a national news broadcast program covering feel-good stories.
A Detailed Look At The 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s 4WD Systems
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee includes some admirable updates. The front has been redesigned to not be so ugly, new LED headlights should perform better, a new lightweight tailgate gets hands-free opening, five new wheel designs change up the appearance, a dual-pane sunroof is available, and the new 2.0-liter turbo-four borrowed from the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL is under the reshaped aluminum hood. But Jeep didn’t stop its drivetrain updates with the new engine. The Cherokee’s base 4WD system has been updated with less internal friction and a reduction of 17 pounds.
Updated Jeep Cherokee Gets 2.0-liter Turbo from the Wrangler
The facelifted Jeep Chekoree made its public debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show with a brand-new front fascia that no longer looks like it’s sucking lemons. The best Jeep-related news in a year, because let’s face it, the pre-facelift Cherooke’s design sucked really bad. The rear end was also heavily revised to the point where it no longer looks like a Fiat. Interior updates are small, but it does feature a new center console and new tech. But by far the biggest change lies under the hood, where the Tigershark and Pentastar engines were joined by a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
