2020 Kia XCeed Crossover
For those who want the Ceed hatchback, but wrapped in a higher-riding, crossover-like package and with a hint of extra sportiness to its design, then the Kia XCeed is what you’re looking for. Its underpinnings are pretty much identical to those of the regular Ceed, but for some buyers, the fact that you sit higher off the ground in combination with the more rakish design will make it an irresistible proposition.
Kia markets it as “a sporty alternative to traditional SUVs” and while it’s certainly sportier than typical, tall SUVs, it’s not actually a sporty car. I will grant Kia this, though - this is the best looking member of the current Ceed family, which to my eyes is even more handsome than the Proceed wagon, thanks to its unique fascias and that very well executed fastback-style hatch.
And if at first glance you’re thinking “this looks quite different to all other Ceed models,” you are actually right. The only body panels the XCeed shares with the rest of the Ceed lineup are the front door panels - everything else is bespoke and really quite distinctive. The automaker has also tried to spruce up the interior, although here it only changed a few bits of trim to match the car’s more lively exterior - the dashboard, controls, seats and, well, pretty much everything is identical to what you see in the Ceed hatch.
Kia’s SUV Madness Has No Boundaries: The Koreans Could Build Yet Another Crossover
Like most automakers out there, Kia took the SUV market by storm and launched a handful of vehicles in recent years. But even though it already has nine crossovers spread over various markets, the Korean brand isn’t ready to stop just yet. According to Kia Europe’s head of product planning, the firm could add yet another SUV in the near future.
Kia XCeed Quirks and Features
This is the forth Ceed brother in the Kia lineup. There’s the Ceed Sportwagon, Proceed Sportwagon, Ceed hatchback, and now the XCeed. I will go on a limb here and say that the XCeed Xceeded (I had to) my expectations when it comes to its exterior look. This pseudo crossover is a bomb. Somewhat based around the ProCeed layout, the Xceed successfully employs the swept back roof design of the coupe and takes a few unique styling touches compared to any other Ceed currently available. Considering that crossovers like this sell like crazy, I am not even mad that Kia made it better looking compared to any other hatch in its arsenal. Regardless of its looks, the Kia XCeed is just a regular compact with the same tech you can find in any other Kia or Hyundai hatch. It does have some unique touches though! Here they are:
The Kia XCeed is the Sport Crossover We Didn’t Realize We Needed
Just like every other mainstream manufacturer, Kia has launched a crossover based on its compact hatchback. Dubbed the XCeed, it is exactly what its name implies - a taller and slightly more off-road-capable version of Kia’s Ceed hatchback.
It is now the fourth available Ceed body style, after the regular hatchback, the Ceed Sportswagon, and the ProCeed shooting brake model. However, it doesn’t actually share any exterior body panels with any of them and, while the all the vehicles in the Ceed family were already pretty handsome, the new XCeed takes up a notch further. It’s even better to look at and you hardly notice it sits any higher off the ground.
Kia Has Chosen a Name for its Baby Crossover, And it’s Not What We Expected
Kia has unveiled the name of its latest crossover that is due to be launched later in June. Moniker’d the Stelos, err, Stilletos, no! Seltos, yeah, Seltos, the baby crossover from Kia has been in works for quite some time now. Although not as funny as the Sylphy, the Seltos was not what we were expecting. But lately, Kia has been giving weird names to its vehicles. Remember Telluride? Why name a vehicle after a ski resort in Colorado? Anyhow, Kia has unveiled sketches of the crossover, and it sure looks quite impressive.
The Habaniro is Kia’s Spicy New Crossover Concept
Kia’s been on a roll with its concept vehicles lately. A month after unveiling the “Imagine by Kia” Concept and its 21 digital screens at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Korean automaker took its traveling concept carnival to New York where it unveiled the Habaniro, a concept it claims is the world’s first-ever ECEV, as in “everyday car, electric vehicle.” The Habaniro is a bold concept. It’s also imaginative in terms of Kia’s vision for the future. Kia didn’t explicitly say that the Habaniro will never see the light of production day, but don’t expect it to arrive anytime soon. For now, the Habaniro is a concept that previews the direction Kia wants to take with its electrification and mobility efforts. Whether that future includes a production version of the Habaniro remains to be seen, but it’d be nice to wish for it, right?
First Reviews of the 2020 Kia Soul Are Overwhelming Positive
The Kia Soul is a car that looks tall and boxy, but it doesn’t really look like an SUV. It melds excellent practicality with a good drive and quirky looks to attract buyers, and the all-new 2020 Soul continues this tradition, only it does it better in every single area. The car debuted at the 2018 Lost Angeles Auto Show, and it is just now starting to hit showrooms.
Kia Gives 2019 Niro Electrified Crossover Its Midlife Refresh
Kia reports that it has sold over 270,000 Niro crossovers since it launched the compact crossover model in 2016, and some 100,000 of those sales were to European customers. It’s the brand’s fifth-most-popular model in Europe, so that’s why it’s chosen to reveal the refreshed versions of the Niro hybrid and Niro plug-in hybrid at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, one of the most important auto shows on the Old Continent.

2020 Kia SOUL Arrives With a Fresh Redesign That Doubles Down on The Quirkiness
Nine years after first gracing us with its all-around quirkiness, the Kia SOUL is now in its third-generation, and it looks as quirky as ever. The all-new SOUL was unveiled at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show with a fresh new look, albeit one with a more modern slant to its design. It’s still the SOUL, though, which is to say that it retains its upright and boxy look. It’s still very much the square crossover we’ve all had in our lives since 2009. Give Kia credit, though, for giving it a fresher design. To add to the new design, it’s also longer and wider than the outgoing model. That’s a win-win in our book.
Kia Tries to Excite us With a Teaser for the Next-Gen 2020 Kia Soul
Kia recalls 340,000 Souls for a fix yet again!
Kia Motors America has recalled 342,381 Souls once again due to an unsuccessful steering issue fix that took place the first time. The first instance was in November 2015, making this the second recall in a span of two years. The recall is stated for the models manufactured between July 21, 2013 and September 30, 2015. These include the Soul and Soul EV’s.
According to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the pinion plug is not safely secured. This means the pinion gear could separate from the steering gear assembly, resulting in a loss of steering control. Despite identifying and acknowledging the issue previously, they were not able to rectify the problem completely. As per the report, "The driver will hear a clunking noise from the steering rack while turning the steering wheel."
Kia issued a statement saying that they are not aware of any injuries caused by the issue. Depending on the car, Kia will either secure the pinion plug correctly or, if required, replace the whole steering assembly. Dealers will begin recalling the affected cars in mid-November. While this is a voluntary recall, it may be noted that customers who have paid for the first repair will be reimbursed.
2018 Kia Picanto X-Line
The Kia Picanto came to be in 2003 when it was launched on a shortened platform of the Hyundai Getz. Redesigned in 2011, it grew in size and shared underpinnings with the then-new Hyundai i10. Another update followed in 2015, but 2017 brought the significantly modified third-generation model. About half a year has passed since the new Picanto arrived and Kia just introduced a new model, the X-Line.
A range-topping model alongside the performance-oriented GT-Line, the X-Line is a crossover-inspired model in the vein of the larger Volkswagen Cross Polo and Cross Golf, and the Hyundai i20 Active. Modifications include a slightly higher ride height, black cladding on the wheel arches, and a few extra features compared to the standard model. The X-Line also introduces the new turbocharged 1.0-liter engine that will also motivate the GT-Line version.
