2022 KIA EV6 - Driven
Kia aims to launch 11 new electric vehicles by 2026 and the entire portfolio starts with the 2022 Kia EV6 compact crossover. It rides on the E-GMP platform, so it shares its core with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the soon-to-launch Genesis GV60. That said, the EV6 is a bit of a milestone for the Kia brand as it’s the very first EV from the company to be built from the ground up as an EV first as opposed to previous, EVs that were based on ICE-powered models. The EV6 has its work cut out for it, though, as it has to face models like the Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and – indirectly – the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y.
These are all very tough models to compete with, in what’s becoming a very cutthroat segment, but the EV6 isn’t coming to the game half-cocked. It starts out at just $40,900, offers up to 310 miles of range, and can be had with up to 320 horsepower with a range-topping 576-horsepower model on the way. Clearly, the EV6 is geared to be very competitive in this segment, and it’s a space we need to watch. So, we asked Kia if we could spend some time with its new EV, and they were happy to oblige. Is the Kia EV6 truly the gamechanger it seems to be and does it stand a chance against more established EVs already on the market? The answer to these questions might surprise you.
2023 Kia Niro

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Kia has entered the EV segment with a bang. The company recently revealed some images of its first fully battery-electric vehicle called the EV6 without accompanying it with any data. But, the company has now officially debuted the car and it seems very impressive.
For starters, the Kia EV6 will make 577 ponies and 546 pound-feet of torque. It takes just 3.5 seconds to sprint to 62 mph from rest, which makes it faster than some Tesla models and Taycan iterations, too. And, did I mention it looks pretty hot?
2019 Kia Futuron Concept
Kia glided through the design process of its latest coupe SUV concept, the Futuron, drawing inspiration from outer space. With Level 4 autonomy, this SUV with a "360-degree core" represents a look at the future of Kia design with its novel approach to the tiger nose front grille and the eye-catching Star Cloud headlights and taillights. In fact, the concept features light sources all over the luscious bodywork that suggests this EV’s got some grunt. Expect to see at least some cues inside and out on future models of the Korean automaker.
South Korea has quickly risen, in the span of about two decades, from the doldrums of the auto industry to the very top and concepts such as Kia’s Futuron (in itself a pun on the words "future" and "on") signals to the world that Kia plans to stay at the top in the foreseeable future by incorporating the latest EV technology coupled with autonomous systems, all draped in a futuristic body with clean surfaces but also aggressive ridges and angles. We like it if it’s a sign that the two-door SUV is bound to make a comeback.
2019 Kia Performance EV Concept
Kia has a few surprises in store for us that it will unveil in full at the 89th Geneva Auto Show and the hottest of them all is this muscular concept that will "get your pulse racing," according to the Korean manufacturer. If it’s a two-door coupe done following the recipe of the Stinger GT, then we’re surely looking forward to it.
Kia let go of two separate teasers almost at the same time in the past couple of days: first, there was a sketch of the upcoming xCeed that’s already been spied testing on wintery roads. The crossover that’s supposed to split the Stonic and the Sportage in terms of size will share its engines with the standard Ceed and PHEV version is to be expected as well. The second teaser, though, is what got us wondering because it doesn’t really resemble anything in Kia’s current portfolio. Is the automaker hinting at a potential shift in its design language or did it just let its European design team based in Frankfurt to have a little fun in the eve of the major Swiss auto show?
2019 Kia Niro EV
The Kia Niro EV is the all-electric version of the Niro subcompact crossover that the Korean automaker launched for the 2017 model year. Unveiled in Autumn 2018 as the e-Niro for the European market, the Niro EV is the U.S.-spec model and broke cover at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show in late November. Virtually identical to its European sibling, the Niro EV and e-Niro share the same features and specification, save for the less powerful base model. Kia chose to bring only the more powerful version to the U.S., where it will compete against its platform sibling, the Hyundai Kona Electric (or EV on this side of the pond). The Niro EV is Kia’s first all-electric crossover and among the first battery-powered SUVs for the non-premium market.
2020 Kia Soul EV
Ever since the Kia Soul first broke into the auto scene in 2009, it has carved its own path unique path in the auto industry. Almost ten years later, the Soul is entering its third-generation, and it includes an improved EV model as well. The 2020 Kia Soul EV has arrived, and it’s a far departure from what we know of the Soul’s all-electric model. It has a fresh new look and, more importantly, a bigger battery pack to go with a more potent electric motor. You think that the 2020 Soul EV is the still the same electric crossover from year’s past? You’d be wrong. The 2020 Kia Soul EV will launch sometime in mid-2019 but pricing figures have yet to be announced.
2019 Kia e-Niro
After unveiling the Niro EV at the International Electric Vehicle Expo in South Korea, Kia has also revealed the European version, dubbed e-Niro, at this year’s Paris Motor Show. It comes with two battery pack options, a range of up to 301 miles (or 485 km) on one charge, and it even comes with a system called Coasting Guide Control which informs the driver of the best times to coast calculated based on a planned route.
You may also have noticed that its name sounds like the surname of Robert DeNiro and Kia has gone ahead and embraced this and featured the movie star in its TV, digital and print adverts.
The Kia e-Niro Electric Crossover Has an All-Electric Range of 301 Miles
The Kia e-Niro is all set to debut in its Euro-spec avatar at the Paris Motor Show next month. Essentially, it’s the same car as the U.S.-spec model, but there are quite a few differences apart from the name. For starters, the e-Niro has 65 miles of extra range over that of the Niro EV. Jealous? Don’t be. It’s because of the difference in the measuring cycles as well.
2018 Kia Niro EV Concept
Launched for the 2017 model year, the Kia Niro is a subcompact crossover positioned below the popular Sportage. Previewed by a concept vehicle introduced in 2013, the Niro is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq, and it’s available with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and electric motor combo, in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. A gasoline-only version isn’t on a drawing table yet, but a fully electric model is definitely underway. Already spotted testing on public roads in 2017, the Niro EV broke cover at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in concept form.
Heavily based on the production model, the electric concept is more than just a Niro with an electric motor and a battery. Kia also meddled with the exterior design and created a new lighting system for the show car. Inside the cabin, it features an updated "human-machine interface" and an array of new safety features. Surprisingly enough, Kia redesigned the Niro’s interior for the all-electric model. Alongside the Niro EV, Kia also unveiled plans to launch 16 new electrified vehicles by 2025. The range includes five hybrids, five plug-in hybrids, five all-electric models, and a hydrogen-powered vehicle. The latter is planned to arrive in 2020 and could be based on the Hyundai Nexo, also unveiled at the 2018 CES.
The production version of the Niro EV is likely to debut by the end of 2018.

Reducing dependence on fossil fuels is one of the latest good-guy crusades for automobiles. Perhaps that’s why Kia’s 2015 Kia Soul EV arrived in my driveway wearing a white hat. The Soul EV is just what the name suggests—a Kia Soul with a battery-powered soul. Is electric power the way of transportation’s future? Tesla and others would certainly have you believe so. Cars like the Soul EV seem to suggest that the way forward need not be an unfamiliar one.
The Soul’s an interesting vehicle, from a marketing standpoint. Though it’s neither the most luxurious nor the most high-performance car in the lineup, it’s become Kia’s flagship, and the source from which all of the brand’s funky, rebellious spirit seems to issue. The Soul remains the most extravagantly styled and recognizable Kia. That’s probably why the brand chose it as the platform for its first all-electric vehicle in North America. I spent a week with the Soul to see how it stacks up against its peers in the growing full-electric market, and found it to be a brave little toaster indeed.

Turbocharged. All-wheel drive. Kia Soul. Put those three terms together, and you have the makings of the 2015 Kia Trail’ster e-AWD concept debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in February, 2015. After confirming its new concept in January, using a teaser image and a brief press release, Kia has now released all the information on the exciting and intriguing Trail’ster.
In this concept form, the Soul trades in its city-bound form for a more rugged manifestation. Off-road-focused additions include bigger wheels and tires, more ride height, and most importantly, an electric all-wheel-drive system (e-AWD) that uses an electric motor to power the rear wheels. The jury is still out on whether this concept will make production, but we have a thing or two to say about it after the jump.

The Chicago Auto Show has officially arrived and Kia is getting things started off with a few milestone announcements; starting with the all-new 2015 Soul EV.
The Soul EV represents the first ever all-electric, zero-emissions vehicle from the Korean company on U.S. soil. On top of its electric propulsion system, the Kia EV was recognized by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for integrating more than 20 bio-friendly materials in the construction.
Kia is promising up to 100 miles of “real world” range out of its lithium battery and says that interior space is barely impacted by the addition of the addition of the electron storage.
Kia hopes to have the new Soul EV in dealerships by this fall with California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey and Maryland as the first markets. These regions were chosen for their relatively large EV infrastructures.

Updated 09/11/2014: Kia revealed prices for the new Soul EV which is now available at dealers nationwide. The model will be offered in two trims: Base and Plus, with prices starting from $33,700 - not including federal tax rebate of $7,500.

The electric car bandwagon is pushing full steam ahead as another automaker has decided to jump up and tag along. Kia Motors will unveil a new electric concept called the "POP" at the Paris Motor Show on September 30th. This latest concept from Kia will produce zero emissions and will be long enough, at three meters, to fit three.
While Kia revealed no other details on the concept, we expect it to be a preview version of a future city electric model that will take on models like the Toyota iQ. Taking a look at the picture you can notice that the POP concept features a panoramic glass roof, so we expect a powertrain similar to the one of the Ray Plug-In Hybrid Concept. This concept is powered by an all aluminum Gasoline Direct Injected (GDI) 1.4 Liter engine producing 153 HP combined with a 78kw electric motor mated to a permanently engaged fixed ratio Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for increased fuel efficiency.
Further information will be released in due course. The 2010 Paris Motor Show runs from September 30th to October 17th.
Kia unveiled the all-new Kia Borrego FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
Available with two and three tank systems with 70MPa pressure, the Borrego FCEV’s power plant is located under the center floor and boasts an additional 47 hp of power to produce a peak output of 154 hp (a 44-percent increase compared to the previous generation) and propel the vehicle to a top speed of 100 mph while boasting a best-in-class system efficiency of 62 percent. With a 202-liter hydrogen storage tank located underneath the vehicle and ahead of the rear wheels, this latest Kia Motors research vehicle has a range of about 426 miles.
With the use of lightweight aluminum body shell components, the Borrego FCEV has a power-to-weight ratio that is similar to the new production model SUV. The FCEV also retains the roomy cabin, low noise levels and overall driving refinement of its new gasoline/diesel-powered sibling.
