The 2021 model year marks the fourth generation of the Kia Sorento. The previous generations were soft, curvy, and rounded, but the 2021 model is boxy, sexy, and a lot sharper. The company has pinned the SUV on a new platform, and has introduced new hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine options. The cabin feels fresh, more spacious, and can be had with captain chairs in the second row. All in all, the family SUV is a huge improvement over the outgoing model. The 2021 Kia Sorento recently arrived at TopSpeed headquarters and we have to say, it is pretty darn impressive.
2021 Kia Carnival Hi Limousine
In an attempt to milk the popular Kia Carnival — it’s the Kia Sedona in the U.S. — Kia is finding new and inventive ways of offering the minivan in different shapes and guises. Fresh from mixing SUV styling to the minivan’s aesthetics, Kia has taken the unconventional step of adding another version to the Carnival lineup, this time of the limousine persuasion.
Say hello to the 2021 Kia Carnival Hi Limousine, a retooled version of the luxury minivan that comes with a higher roof and plenty of new creature comforts to justify its billing. Somewhere, the Toyota Alphard must be shaking in its boots.
Kia Is Doubling Down On Military Vehicles And We’re Intrigued
At a time when automakers are expanding their EV lineup, Kia has decided to pump in resources into developing military vehicles. The company has revealed that it has plans to develop a new standard architecture for next-generation military vehicles. This will serve as a platform for 2.5- and five-ton military vehicles and new five-ton bulletproof vehicles as well. Apart from this, it will also try to apply new EV technology.
Here’s What A Kia Mohave-Based Pickup Truck Would Look Like
Back in 2019, Kia announced that it will enter the pickup market with a mid-size truck. The truck is still a few years away, but that doesn’t mean rendering artists won’t let their creative juices flow to imagine what it could look like.
This rendering by SRK designs is based on the Kia Mohave SUV, and we must admit, it looks pretty tough for a compact truck. But we’re not complaining.
2020 Kia Telluride - Driven
The Telluride joined Kia’s lineup for the 2020 model year as its biggest SUV yet. It’s positioned in the midsize class, despite the fact that it’s not much larger than the Kia Sorento. As is the usual case, it shares a lot of core DNA with a Hyundai product – in this case, the Hyundai Palisade – but it still features its own distinct styling. It’s only available with a V-6, but it does provide ample power, towing up to 5,000 pounds, and it comes at a price that gives it a competitive edge over models like the Honda Pilot and Volkswagen Atlas.
As Kia’s newst SUV, we’ve been itching to see what it’s like to live with the new Telluride, and we finally got out chance. This is what we’ve learned after a week of driving the Hyundai Telluride.
2020 Kia Telluride - Driven
As I photographed the 2020 Kia Telluride in a Maryland park, a fellow visitor peeled off from his family to ask about the car. It made sense. Full-size crossovers like the Telluride are the chariot of choice for many families today, thanks to their three rows of seats and long lists of amenities. And the all-new Telluride had just hit the market. But as it turned out, the man wasn’t eyeing the Telluride for himself. It was his teenage daughter who’d sent him across the parking lot to check out this newly released SUV. It looked cool, she told him, kind of like a Range Rover. And she wanted one.
2019 Kia Mohave Masterpiece Concept
Most of us in the U.S. are familiar with Kia’s new large SUV, the Telluride. But just because the Telluride has arrived, that doesn’t mean we should completely ignore Kia’s other large SUV, the Mohave. It’s easy to forget about the Mohave because it’s not sold in the U.S. It was back then as the Borrego, but Kia discontinued that line when it introduced the Sorrento in 2011. But the Mohave SUV has lived on in other parts of the world, including in Kia’s home country of South Korea. It just so happened that the Seoul Motor Show was the site where Kia unveiled the next-generation, concept-form Mohave, called the Mohave Masterpiece Concept. The new concept shared the stage with the Kia Signature Concept and the Imagine Concept that made its global début at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Mohave Masterpiece Concept took center stage, though, in part because it signals the arrival of another full-sized SUV that may or may not arrive in the U.S. market. There’s no timetable for when the production version of the concept hits production, but based on how the concept it looks like, the Mohave Masterpiece Concept looks like it’s ready to hit the streets of the world anytime soon.
We usually feature high-end models from brands like BMW, Audi, Ferrari, or Lamborghini as our wallpapers of the day because, well, everyone loves a good sports car or supercar. There’s no denying that. But, at the end of the day, the world is in love with SUVs and Crossovers too and, for some reason, everyone seems to be in love with the 2020 Kia Telluride as well. Maybe it’s because it’s the first Kia developed specifically for the U.S. market. Or, maybe it’s because it’s Kia’s largest SUV to date. It even resembles the Telluride concept to at least some extent, so it has that kind of juice going for it as well. Either way, the Kia has seen a lot of interest lately, so we figured we might as well make it our wallpaper of the day today. Kia brought its flagship SUV, the Telluride, at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this week. The production model of the SUV did not grab a lot of attention; perhaps because we had already seen it at the New York Fashion Week and SEMA fitted with a cacophony of off-road accessories. However, what actually raised our eyebrows is that Kia is actually planning to offer something on similar lines as an off-road-ready variant itself.

Kia’s Updated Sedona is Pretty Much About Revised Options and a New Transmission
The Kia Sedona is a decent minivan – there’s no doubt about that. But, Kia’s idea of updating the Sedona is nothing short of laughable. First, Kia did update the front fascia to be more in line with its current lineup, but outside of that, the only good thing that comes outside aside from new wheels are redesigned exterior lights. If you want LED headlamps you need to pony up for the higher trim levels while you have to jump up to the EX if you want the new power sliding door button. Outside of a new instrument cluster inside, the interior only sees updates on the options list while under the metal there’s a new transmission that’s supposed to be more efficient.
The Genesis G70 Thrives Where The Kia K900 Struggles
The new Kia K900 caused a divide here at Top Speed headquarters. Some of us liked the way it looked, but some of us were less thrilled about. By contrast, everyone agreed that the Genesis G70 was designed like a proper luxury sedan. There lies the (perceived) divide between the two saloons. When it comes to all-around design, the G70 takes the cake over the K900.
The new Kia K900 is here to make you forget about the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series
Once known for affordable and not-so-great vehicles for emerging markets, Kia has developed into a full-blown automaker that covers many segments in the world’s most important markets. In recent years, Kia also took a couple of big steps into the premium market by upping the ante in the fit-and-finish department and by offering increasingly better equipment lines. In 2013, Kia decided to join the full-size luxury market with the K900, which was just redesigned into the second generation. Unveiled at the 2018 New York Motor Show, the new K900 boasts improvements in just about any department and looks the part even when compared to German competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series.
2019 Kia K900
The Kia K900 was launched in 2012 as the company’s most luxurious flagship sedan ever. Designed to replace the Amanti, a four-door which had moderate success in the U.S., the K900 brought Kia closer to its goal: to provide a solid competitor for the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. After almost six years on the market, the K900 was redesigned from the ground up and introduced to the North American market at the 2018 New York Motor Show.
Unveiled for the first time in its home market in South Korea, the new K900 looks significantly more modern than its predecessor. And, although it sports the brand’s current design language, it also boasts a few styling features of its own. It looks like Kia wants the K900 to stand out in the lineup, which is a good strategy in a market where sedans from different segments share too many features. The interior is a big step forward too, with the stylish design and the numerous convenience features putting it on par with the German sedans. Kia Releases First Official Photos of the New K900 ; Audi and BMW Execs Should Tremble in Fear
A new-comer to the premium segment, Kia isn’t the kind of automaker you think about when talking about full-size cars. But the Korean maker has been offering big sedans since the 1990s, when it made its own version of the Mazda Luce and Sentia, sold as the Potentia and Enterprise, respectively. Kia’s very own design came in 2003 as the Opirus, which was sold in the U.S. as the Amanti, with surprisingly good results. But the brand made a significant step up the premium ladder in 2012, when it introduced the K900. Also known as the K9 and Quoris in other markets, the K900 became the company’s first real competitor for German big boys like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. Come 2018, and the second-generation model is underway for an official unveiling at the New York Auto Show. And man it sure looks hot!
Audi Execs Will Fall Out of their Chairs when they See This Sketch of the Kia K900 Interior
Fresh off of teasing the flagship K900’s exterior, Kia is following up with a teaser sketch of the interior. Slowly but surely, we’re getting a clearer idea of what the K900 has to offer. From where we stand, it looks like the Kia K900 is going to be more than just a novelty flagship; it has the chops to be a legitimate contender in the luxury space segment.
Kia Teases the K900 Sedan Before it Debuts at the New York Auto Show
Kia has released a teaser image of its upcoming K900 flagship sedan. The redesigned model is due to hit dealerships and showrooms sometime this year as a 2019 model. Despite only being introduced in 2015 in the U.S., the need for an update became important after the model went through a rocky 2017 that saw only 455 units find new owners for the whole year. The new K900 is expected to debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show in late March.
Updated Kia Sorento Unveiled in L.A. with New Features; Diesel Engine Confirmed
Introduced in 2014 with a brand-new design language and the company’s latest tech, the third-generation Kia Sorento posted solid sales in its first three years on the market, which more than 100,000 units delivered per year in the United States. But the SUV has yet to surpass second-gen model sales from 2011 and 2012, and Kia is trying to fix that with a comprehensive mid-cycle facelift. Unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the revised Sorento gained notable changes inside and out, as well as under the hood.
Design-wise, changes are subtle but significant for a facelift. The grille has a new mesh with larger, horizontal inserts, while the headlamps sport a new configuration with three separate lights and LED strips at the bottom. The fog lamps have also been revised for upper trims, while the lower intake is slightly wider. Around back we can find revised taillights and a new bumper with a fake vent and chrome trim for the side intakes.
There’s more to talk about inside the cabin, where Kia added a new steering wheel, new shifter knob, and revised air vents. The seven-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, as is the seven-seat configuration. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which adds automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning, driver inattention warning, and lane-keeping assist, is now standard on the EX, SX, and SX-L trims. The range-topping SX and SX-L models can be had with Mahogany and Terracotta Nappa leather. Kia also introduced optional wireless smartphone charging and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon with Clari-Fi.
Under the hood, the Sorento lost one of its three engines. Kia decided to discontinue the turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, mostly due to poor fuel economy figures compared to the V-6. The engine wasn’t powerful enough for the seven-seat configuration anyway. The remaining 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.3-liter V-6 carry over unchanged. However, while the four-banger uses the same six-speed automatic transmission, the V-6 gained a new eight-speed. The Korean brand confirmed that the Sorento will get a diesel mill, but decline to provide additional information.
The revised SUV goes on sale in 2018 for the 2019 model year.
2017 Kia Cadenza Obsidian
For the 2017 SEMA Show, Kia teamed up with iconic custom car builder West Coast Customs for two unique versions of its existing production models. One is based on the awesome Stinger GT, which will arrive in the U.S. for the 2018 model year, while the second one is based on the Cadenza, the company’s second-largest offering in North America. Called the Cadenza Obsidian, the concept car brings together features usually found on luxury cars and flashy color accents that define most aftermarket builds.
In typical West Coast Customs fashion, the Cadenza gained a custom paint job with contrasting highlights and a new set of wheels. Inside, the sedan became a tad more luxurious thanks to soft leather and hand-stitched suede. To top it off, the tuning firm added dark window tint and a lowered suspension for a gangster look. It definitely looks like something Kia should put into production in limited numbers, but I don’t think it’s going to happen very soon. But keep reading to see what makes the Cadenza Obsidian a cool sedan.
The 2016 Truck Rodeo: The Full Results
By now you’ve probably read how the 2017 Ford Super Duty was crowned the Truck of Texas and that the 2017 Nissan Armada won the SUV of Texas. But the Super Duty and Armada were far from the only winners at this year’s Truck Rodeo put on by the Texas Auto Writers Association.
More than 70 journalists and social media influencers descended upon the 1,623-acre Longhorn River Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas to test approximately 71 pickup trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and commercial vehicles in TAWA’s annual event.
A total of 17 categories grouped the vehicles with their competition, ranging from compact crossovers and full-size SUVs to Off-Road pickups. Other categories included best connectivity, best technology, and best powertrain.
