2022 Kia Sorento PHEV
Kia launched the fourth generation Sorento back in 2020. At the moment of its launch, only gasoline and hybrid engines were announced, and a plug-in hybrid version was promised for the 2022 model year. Now the plug-in hybrid version has been finally added to the Sorento lineup, and it comes with a few cool promises, including a combined overall range of 460 miles.
2020 Kia Ceed Sportswagon PHEV
Kia has finally embarked on creating hybrid systems for its popular hatchbacks. The Ceed Sportswagon PHEV should be the first one from the Ceed family to benefit from the new technology, and I am reporting on this because we have actually caught the Ceed Sportswagon PHEV testing in the wilderness. The Hyundai-Kia duo does wonders in the hybrid world right now. The Kona Plug-in hybrid prototypes roam the streets, and a few interesting production hybrids found their place in Hyundai and Kia showrooms. However, the unavoidable introduction of the Kia Ceed Sportswagon PHEV basically announces something very important - the coming of the Ceed hatchback hybrid and, far more importantly, the Sportage hybrid. Now, that will be really important. Yet, let’s start with the basics - the Ceed Sportswagon PHEV.
2019 Kia ProCeed GT
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the arrival of the Kia Proceed, and new spy shots of the sporty GT model has given rise to more speculation that the five-door fastback model is getting closer to its launch date. Kia hasn’t confirmed when that’s going to be, but all signs point to the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. If that ends up being the case, these spy photos of the five-door Proceed are arriving at just the right time.
2018 Kia Stonic
Korean automaker Kia has expanded its lineup at an amazing rate in recent years, tackling numerous segments that it has ignored in the past. It also launched increasingly better vehicles in the last decade, to the extent that it can now give more established brands a run for their money in Europe and the United States. But Kia isn’t stopping here and now wants to enter the mini-SUV market. It will do so in late 2017 with the Stonic, a small crossover that will share underpinnings with a similar vehicle from sister company Hyundai. The Stonic will tackle the likes of the Nissan Juke and Mazda CX-3, joining the Sportage and Sorento in the lineup.
Scheduled to go on sale in the third quarter of 2017, the Stonic is a small crossover based on the Rio and shares underpinnings with the tiny hatchback. It mirrors the Kia inside too, while the exterior borrows numerous features, blending them with unique cues that gives the Stonic an identity of its own. Sporty on the outside, modern on the inside, and packed with the latest technology for road-going cars, the Stonic seems to have all the attributes required by the mini SUV market and then some.

2020 Kia Stinger Coupe
Kia shocked a lot of people when it pulled the sheet off the Kia Stinger earlier this year, and things only got better once folks got a chance to sit down in the most comfortable vehicle Kia has ever built. Offered here in the U.S. with a 255-horsepower four-cylinder or a 365-horsepower V-6, the newest four-door on the block is set to compete against models like the BMW 4 Series, the Audi A5 Sportback, and even models like the Lexus GS or Infiniti Q50. But, what if Kia didn’t stop there? What if it wanted to take on the two-door segment too? Well, there’s no reason at all that it shouldn’t, and we decided to give Kia a head start by designing our own take on what a Kia Stinger Coupe would look like.
When the Stinger we all know and lust for (that’s weird to say about anything with a Kia badge, right?) has four doors, our coupe has an extended front door and a large chunk of rear quarter glass that hints toward the best passenger room of any two-door currently on the market. Plus, it retains that rear hatch and sharp roofline that makes the four-door model so attractive. With that said, let’s take a closer look at this rendering and discuss some of the finer details before Kia decides to steal our idea and run with it.

2019 Kia Stinger GT Plus
Kia surprised a lot of people when it debuted its new Stinger GT thanks to the performance and luxury DNA that Kia developed for its first big step into such a popular segment. Set to compete against models like the Audi A5 Sportback, Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series GT, and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, Kia’s new halo car has a lot to live up to. But, Kia isn’t done writing the Stingers story just yet as Product Market Boss, Spencer Cho, has said that the Stinger will become electrified in the future. Meanwhile, a high-performance version could be on the table as well, thanks to the Stinger’s excessively strong chassis. With that concept in mind, we tapped into our resident artist to put together a rendering of what a high-performance Stinger just might look like.
As a high-performance model, Kia will build on the car’s current profile by adding more aggressive features on the outside, to go with a few minor updates inside, and a significant power bump under the hood. It’s pretty likely that it will eventually happen, but what we don’t know is what Kia will do to increase the performance of the Stinger. Will its future hybrid plans play a role in the performance model or will it be all computer remapping and hardware upgrades? Well, we have a few theories, so let’s talk a little more about the rendering and the possibilities in my speculative review below.
2018 Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento started life as a body-on-frame SUV for the 2002 model year and was redesigned in 2010 and 2014. Come 2017 and Kia gave the third-generation SUV its mid-cycle facelift by adding new design features on the outside and updating the tech package inside the cabin.
The refresh also saw one of the two four-cylinder engines discontinued, leaving the Sorento with a choice of two drivetrains. However, Kia did announce that the hauler will get a diesel soon. Info about the oil burner is not yet available, but we know everything else about this SUV, so let’s have a closer look at the data in the review below.

In 2015, Kia gave the Rio a mild facelift that gave the compact a fresh appearance, a few extra soft-touch materials on the inside, and a quieter cabin. As expected, that didn’t help much in regard to the nameplate’s sliding sales, but things should get better once the fourth-generation model arrives. Rumored to debut in late 2016 and go on sale in 2017, the redesigned compact is already being tested on public roads.
Our trusty paparazzi just sent us a batch of fresh spy shots of the upcoming Rio, and even though the hatchback is camouflaged to the teeth, we do have an idea about what it might bring to the table. And, as we always do, we will discuss the new Rio in a speculative review based on the information provided by the photos, as well as the recent changes in the automaker’s lineup.
Although we only have photos of the hatchback, known as the Rio 5-Door on these shores, the model will also be joined by a sedan, enabling Kia to compete with big boys such as the four-door Ford Fiesta. Keep reading for more details and stay tuned for updates. We’ll be back as soon as we have them.

2017 Kia Picanto
Launched in 2003 as a city car based on a shortened platform of the Hyundai Getz, the Kia Picanto soldiered on unchanged until 2011, when the second-generation model was introduced. Redesigned from the ground up under the direction of Peter Schreyer, the new model shared underpinnings with the Hyundai i10 and was larger than its predecessor. A significant facelift followed in 2015, but right after that Kia began working on the third-generation hatchback, which just broke cover ahead of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
As expected, Kia aimed to retain the second-gen model’s main feats, such as low running costs and compact dimensions for city driving, and spice things up with a new design language and an updated, more upscale interior. Not surprisingly, the Picanto received Kia’s latest design features seen on larger models, but also an array of much-needed apps and gadgets on the inside. The big news is that Kia decided to discontinue the three-door version, leaving the five-door as the only option available. Under the hood, the Korean brand revised the previous engines, while also adding a new turbocharged option.
Much like its predecessor, the Picanto won’t cross the pond to North America, where the Rio 5-door will remain Kia’s smallest hatchback. The new Picanto, however, will be offered in most markets in Europe and Asia, where it will compete against the likes of [Toyota Aygo, Ford Ka, and Hyundai i10.

The Kia Sorento has been around since 2003 when it was introduced as a body-on-frame model that was common among full-size trucks and SUV’s at the time. By the time 2014 came around, Kia was introducing the redesigned, third-generation model that came with a slew of updates to keep it among one of the strongest competitors in its class. Compared to the previous model, the front fascia has been updated with larger corner intakes and rectangular fog lights, and the frame around the grill has been redesigned to be much thinner than before. The side profile has more character from new body lines, and the rear now has a much cleaner look. Since the new Sorento shares a platform with the Kia Carnival, it is now nearly 3.75-inches longer – a feature that translates into more interior room. To go with the extra interior space, comfort and luxury have been increased by the introduction of softer surfaces and plenty of updated options.
With competition like the Toyota Rav4 and the Honda CR-V, Kia pulled out all the stops to make sure its Sorento would stick in the minds of consumers. As such, the car benefits from a large infotainment screen, a comfortable back seat, and third-row seating, to name a few important features. For a rather thorough update, the price for 2016 only increased by $1,000, while the 2017 model will come at a $300 premium. It’s not bad, and more than appropriate for the quality the new Sorento brings to the table. After much teasing and prodding over the past couple of months, Kia’s tiger-looking concept has finally broken cover at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Apparently, it’s called the Provo Concept and, as you can imagine, it looks absolutely bonkers or at the very least, right up what Kia promised as a "racy new urban concept.” It sure wasn’t kidding, huh?
But the radical conceptual design of the exterior, particularly the eye-catching front profile, only tells part of the story of the Provo Concept. The interior is also awash in some fine and fancy suede and carbon treatments while the wheels, well, those ridiculous bad boys sure do speak for themselves.
It’s also worth noting that the Kia Provo Concept is looking like the Korean automaker’s answer to the growing crossover market, one that could have the likes of MINI in its crosshairs.

Shortly after Kia unveiled the new generation pro_cee’d at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, everyone started to talk about the potential of a more powerful version of it. It looks like the talk was more than just lip service, as Kia has just unveiled the first teaser image and some details on its first-ever hot hatch.
The new pro_cee’d GT will be based on the standard 2013 pro_cee’d and has been described as "a hot hatch perfectly aligned with Kia’s sportiness and "fun to drive" positioning. An aggressive body kit highlights the aesthetic program for the pro_cee’d GT, particularly the addition of a new front bumper with larger air intakes, new LED headlamps, a honeycomb grille with a "GT" logo, larger side skirts, and a redesigned rear bumper. Adding to that program are a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels with a lower suspension and front brakes measuring 300x28 mm with rear brakes measuring 262 x 10 mm (10.3 x 0.39 inches)

UPDATE 01/27/2013: The first set of photos of the pro_cee’d GT have been released ahead of its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
A few years ago, if anyone had said that Kia and Hyundai would end up producing vehicles that would target luxury models from the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, many people probably would have laughed in their faces. Now, the two companies are chipping away at their cheaper car reputation and we have a series of new spy shots to prove it. The vehicle seen here is the new Kia Quoris (known as the K9 internally), as it takes its turn in Northern Sweden for some winter testing.
Known as the Maserati Quattroporte from Korea (weird), the Kia Quoris will be based on the rear wheel drive platform from the Hyundai Genesis sedan and will take most of its design cues from the recently announced GT Concept, including the concept’s full LED headlights.
The engine line-up will include a series of three petrol engines, plus a diesel for the European market. The entry-level will use a 3.8 liter V6 engine that will deliver about 333 HP, then there will be a 4.6 liter V8 version delivering 385 HP, and the top model will use a 5.0 liter V8 with a powerful 429 HP. The engines will be offered with a choice of an 8-speed automatic transmission, but a new 10-speed automatic transmission that is currently under development could find its way in the K9 as well.
The new Kia Quoris will make its world debut at the end of 2012 as a 2013 model.

After launching the second generation C’eed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Kia has unveiled the Pro_cee’d at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Sales will begin in the spring of 2013.
When compared to the previous generation, the new Pro_c’eed features a 40 mm lower roofline than the previous model, a B-pillar moved back by 220 mm, new side panels behind the B-pillar and new side windows, C-pillar, tailgate, rear light clusters and rear bumper.
On the exterior the model will be distinguished thanks to a unique dark chrome front grille, LED daylight running lights, LED rear lamp clusters and a new selection of bold alloy wheel designs. On the interior the model adds leather seats and steering wheel, a piano black dashboard and center console and alloy pedals.
As for the engine line-up, customers will have to choose between two gasoline engines: a 98 HP 1.4-litre and a 133 HP 1.6 liter; plus two diesel engines: 89 HP 1.4 liter and a 108 or 126bhp 1.6-litre. These four engines will be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

UPDATE 02/17/13: Kia has officially unveiled the UK pricing for the pro cee’d. The base S trim level will retail from £17,495 ($27,145) while the higher trim SE model will sell from £19,495 ($30,240).
In the past few years, Kia’s success on the market has increased significantly with models like the SOUL and the Forte becoming leaders in their segment. Taking this under consideration, it’s no wonder that the Korean manufacturer is expanding their market - which as of now consists of coupes, sedans, crossovers, and SUVs - to include a small roadster. The Kia Roadster - name unknown - will set out to compete against one of the only lower end roadsters on the market: the Mazda MX-5.
The new Kia Roadster will weigh no more than 2200 lbs and will come with a rear wheel drive system. Engine specifications are not exact, but we should be getting about 200 HP out of a turbo petrol engine. About a year after the Kia debuts, we should also be seeing a Hyundai version of the same vehicle. Think along the lines of the relationship between the Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S.
The path has been set, but don’t expect this sporty model to show up anytime before 2013; building a model that will be "fun, dynamic and addressed to young buyers" will surely take some time.
