2019 Kia Stinger GT Plus
Kia surprised a lot of people when it debuted its new Stinger GT thanks to the performance and luxury DNA that Kia developed for its first big step into such a popular segment. Set to compete against models like the Audi A5 Sportback, Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series GT, and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, Kia’s new halo car has a lot to live up to. But, Kia isn’t done writing the Stingers story just yet as Product Market Boss, Spencer Cho, has said that the Stinger will become electrified in the future. Meanwhile, a high-performance version could be on the table as well, thanks to the Stinger’s excessively strong chassis. With that concept in mind, we tapped into our resident artist to put together a rendering of what a high-performance Stinger just might look like.
As a high-performance model, Kia will build on the car’s current profile by adding more aggressive features on the outside, to go with a few minor updates inside, and a significant power bump under the hood. It’s pretty likely that it will eventually happen, but what we don’t know is what Kia will do to increase the performance of the Stinger. Will its future hybrid plans play a role in the performance model or will it be all computer remapping and hardware upgrades? Well, we have a few theories, so let’s talk a little more about the rendering and the possibilities in my speculative review below.
About two weeks ago, Kia announced that would head to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show with a 2+2 concept car that will preview the long-rumored Kia sports car. Today the company revealed the concept’s official name and a new image of the concept.
This new concept is named the GT4 Stinger and, according to the details that Kia gave us, it will bring into focus the latest version of Kia’s signature "Tiger Nose" grille.
Along with the revised grille, the GT4 Stinger will also feature vertical LED headlights flanking the white surround of the grille, brake cooling vents, 20-inch wheels and a carbon fiber front splitter mounted below the bumper. This first image really gives us a nice look at this striking front end, and we simply cannot wait to see it.
On top of this awesome-looking nose, this concept will carry a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 315 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed, close-ratio manual transmission. If this potent four-pot finds its way into a production model, then Kia will officially put Toyota, Scion and Subaru on notice to get off their rumps and add some much-needed power to the GT 86, FR-S and BR-Z triplets.

Shortly after Kia unveiled the new generation pro_cee’d at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, everyone started to talk about the potential of a more powerful version of it. It looks like the talk was more than just lip service, as Kia has just unveiled the first teaser image and some details on its first-ever hot hatch.
The new pro_cee’d GT will be based on the standard 2013 pro_cee’d and has been described as "a hot hatch perfectly aligned with Kia’s sportiness and "fun to drive" positioning. An aggressive body kit highlights the aesthetic program for the pro_cee’d GT, particularly the addition of a new front bumper with larger air intakes, new LED headlamps, a honeycomb grille with a "GT" logo, larger side skirts, and a redesigned rear bumper. Adding to that program are a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels with a lower suspension and front brakes measuring 300x28 mm with rear brakes measuring 262 x 10 mm (10.3 x 0.39 inches)

UPDATE 01/27/2013: The first set of photos of the pro_cee’d GT have been released ahead of its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
A few years ago, if anyone had said that Kia and Hyundai would end up producing vehicles that would target luxury models from the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, many people probably would have laughed in their faces. Now, the two companies are chipping away at their cheaper car reputation and we have a series of new spy shots to prove it. The vehicle seen here is the new Kia Quoris (known as the K9 internally), as it takes its turn in Northern Sweden for some winter testing.
Known as the Maserati Quattroporte from Korea (weird), the Kia Quoris will be based on the rear wheel drive platform from the Hyundai Genesis sedan and will take most of its design cues from the recently announced GT Concept, including the concept’s full LED headlights.
The engine line-up will include a series of three petrol engines, plus a diesel for the European market. The entry-level will use a 3.8 liter V6 engine that will deliver about 333 HP, then there will be a 4.6 liter V8 version delivering 385 HP, and the top model will use a 5.0 liter V8 with a powerful 429 HP. The engines will be offered with a choice of an 8-speed automatic transmission, but a new 10-speed automatic transmission that is currently under development could find its way in the K9 as well.
The new Kia Quoris will make its world debut at the end of 2012 as a 2013 model.

One of the many highlights of the Frankfurt Motor Show was a concept car that could potentially lead to a new styling direction from the company that brought the car to Germany.
We’re talking about the Kia GT Concept, a rear-wheel four-door, four-seater sports sedan concept that bares a slight resemblance to the K9 sketch revealed back in 2009.
While we certainly were very surprised by the look of the car - at first, we actually thought it was a Maserati - Kia’s aggressive approach in the design of their future models just goes to show that their designers and engineers have some serious creative chops.
"No matter from which perspective you look at it – this concept car is roaring with energy and ready for take-off," said Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors Chief Design Officer. "I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: we are ready to fast forward to an all new chapter."
With the aggressive approach the Korean automaker has taken in being more pro-active in the industry, we’re not betting against these guys when it comes to actually seeing this concept through. Who knows, a production version might be in the oven sooner than we think.
UPDATE 12/23/2011: We’ve learned that Kia is set to venture into a whole new market after news broke that they have green-lighted the production of the Kia GT Concept sports car for 2013. We first saw the GT Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show a few months ago and were left breathless at the car’s cutting-edge design and significant - at least for Kia - performance numbers.
For the production GT Concept, Kia is looking at a comprehensive line-up that not only includes a sedan version, but also a two-door coupe variant and, quite possibly, even a station wagon.

In the past few years, Kia’s success on the market has increased significantly with models like the SOUL and the Forte becoming leaders in their segment. Taking this under consideration, it’s no wonder that the Korean manufacturer is expanding their market - which as of now consists of coupes, sedans, crossovers, and SUVs - to include a small roadster. The Kia Roadster - name unknown - will set out to compete against one of the only lower end roadsters on the market: the Mazda MX-5.
The new Kia Roadster will weigh no more than 2200 lbs and will come with a rear wheel drive system. Engine specifications are not exact, but we should be getting about 200 HP out of a turbo petrol engine. About a year after the Kia debuts, we should also be seeing a Hyundai version of the same vehicle. Think along the lines of the relationship between the Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S.
The path has been set, but don’t expect this sporty model to show up anytime before 2013; building a model that will be "fun, dynamic and addressed to young buyers" will surely take some time.

Kia’s smallest car, the Forte, will be coming to the 2010 SEMA Auto Show in what looks to be a future special edition model. Okay, so Kia says it’s only a concept, but the future for the Forte Koup Type R Concept, which was inspired by the company’s first season of racing in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, is very bright. The concept was designed by Kinetic Motorsports, who built and campaigns Kia’s Forte Koup race cars.
The Type R Concept gets a matte gray exterior paint job that works with enhanced exterior panels to make the front fenders, rocker panels, and rear quarter panels appear longer. BBS RG 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels and racing-inspired tires along with a modified front end add to the overall look of the car.
The interior of the Type R now offers custom seat/door treatments as well as a few ergonomic improvements for the driver. Other additions include a short throw shift kit with Kinetic gear shift knob and carbon inlay, and a dampened composite fiber disc clutch.
