An uncovered prototype of the Kia Telluride was spotted chilling in the wild, giving us our first look at the full-sized SUV without any swirly camo covering it. There’s only one picture of the SUV, so it’s hard to make out other sections of the ride. But, the front section is unmistakable. That’s the Kia Telluride, and it looks nothing like its concept counterpart.

Report: The Kia Telluride Will Closely Resemble the Concept
Two months ago, Kia confirmed what many of has have been thinking for quite some time. The Telluride Concept that the automaker showed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show would be turned into a production model. Building off of that announcement, Kia has now confirmed that the production model will look a lot like the concept version from two years ago. More importantly, the Telluride’s “look” will also shape the design of Kia’s other crossovers and SUVs, including the Soul, Sportage, and Sorento.
Kia is Considering AWD for the Niro and Optima, but the Sedona Will Have to Wait
Kia is looking into the viability of more of its vehicles all-wheel drive as demand for the system grows. Unlike in the past, more customers are now looking for the increased grip that an AWD system provides, and when that kind of demand increases, an automaker like Kia has to listen. Among the models being eyed to get standard AWD in the future include the Optima sedan, the Sedona minivan, and Niro crossover. No decision has been made yet, but Kia is looking at it as a possibility now that customers have become more vocal in their desire to see them on the Kia models that they buy.
Kia Admits that the Telluride Could Wear K900 Underpinnings
The Kia K900 luxury sedan currently sits as the company’s flagship model. Just don’t expect it to be the only one sitting at that table soon. The Korean automaker’s product planner, Orth Hedrick, hinted that the K900 could be joined by a crossover that will be based on the sedan. Hedrick stopped short of revealing too many details, but his comments brought memories of the Telluride Concept back to the surface. Kia Marketing Boss Confirms a Ceed SUV is in the Works
The all-new Kia Ceed will eventually grow into an entire family of new models that will include a compact SUV. The surprising revelation came from Artur Martins, Kia’s vice president of marketing, who told Auto Express that the new SUV will sit beneath Sportage and will act as the brand’s champion against models like the Volkswagen T-Roc. Details are still unclear, but the model is expected to arrive sometime in the middle of 2019.
