At the beginning of August, Lamborghini->ke44 revealed a teaser image announcing an extreme supercar for the Frankfurt Motor Show. A few guesses as to what supercar this could be were instantly thrown out, such as the roadster version of the Aventador or the production version of the Sesto Elemento. Now we know that this new special edition model is the Lamborghini Gallardo 570-4 Super Trofeo, limited to only 150 units and described as "the most extreme Gallardo->ke375 ever."

The new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale was inspired by the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and will be placed on the top of the Gallardo line-up. It is powered by a V10 engine that delivers a total of 570 HP and a peak torque 398 lbs-ft at 6500 rpm. The engine will be combined with an all-wheel-drive system and a robotized six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles.

With a total weight of 2954 lbs, the new special edition will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds and to 124 mph in 10.4 seconds, headed up to a top speed of 198 mph.

Exterior

The new special edition Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale will be offered in an exclusive "Rosso Mars" paint that symbolizes Italy’s traditional racing red and draws from the car's connection with ultimate race track performance. This special Rosso Mars paint will be combined with a matte black finish for the large rear spoiler, engine hood, and front air intakes. The forged wheels will also be painted in high-gloss black. The brake calipers stand out against the black wheels in a bright, fiery red, a first for Lamborghini, but customers can opt for "Grigio Telesto" or "Bianco Monocerus" if the red doesn;t tickle their fancy.

Carbon fiber is an important element for the new supercar and can be found covering the rocker panel covers, rear diffuser, and outside mirror housings.

Interior

The black and red combination found in the exterior finds its way inside the car as well in leather and suede accents. "Rosso Mars" red Alcantara was used on the dashboard, the central part of the seat cushion, and the backrest, while black Alcantara was used for the other parts of the interior. The steering wheel is upholstered in black suede, while the door panels, the monocoque racing seats, and the center console cover are made with carbon fiber.

Engine

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale will be powered by the same V10 found in the standard Gallardo Superleggera, delivering a total of 570 HP at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 398 lbs-ft at 6500 rpm. In racing tradition, the engine will be mated to a robotized egear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles as standard. This system will shift through its six gears much faster than any human being could. And since this is a "570-4" model, it also comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

With a total weight of 2954 lbs and an output of 570 HP, the new special edition will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, while 0 to 124 mph is done in 10.4 seconds. Top speed halts at 198 mph.

These impressive performance numbers require a certain degree of precision, so the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale comes equipped with a suspension system directly derived from motor racing, with a double aluminum wishbone and ESP stability control system.

Prices

Prices for the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale haven't been announced just yet, but expect the price tag to reflect the fact that only 150 units will be produced. Translation: Pricey.

Competition

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale looks just about perfect, but if there was one supercar to equal this level of excellence, it would be the Ferrari 458 Italia. The 458 Italia delivers the same 570 HP as the Gallardo, and can also sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph. So, do you prefer the Lamborghini red or the Ferrari red?
