Lamborghini hasn’t been shy when it comes to rolling out special edition models. It’s a tried-and-tested formula that always works for the Italian automaker, largely because consumer demand for these SE models has always been high.

Take the 2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition, for example. It’s the latest in a long line of special edition Aventadors, except that this one is a celebratory SE that pays tribute to Lambo’s Ad Personam customization program. Yes, Lamborghini just rolled out a special edition Aventador SVJ to celebrate its own personalization division, though, to be fair, the Ad Personam program does have several new and exciting options on the table.

What’s new with Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program?

Since then, more than half of the Lamborghini models that come out of the production line have at least one Ad Personam detail. The personalization division’s growth has been remarkable, and with current global conditions being where they are, Lamborghini is doing its part to adjust to the new world order.

The new virtual studio should make it easier for potential clients to discuss personalization options with Lamborghini’s specialists. Live design proposals and configuration suggestions will be offered through this new platform. Once all that’s done, Lamborghini will send a full proposal to the client, including renderings and material samples.

So, where does the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition come into play? Well, Lamborghini wants to celebrate the launch of the opening of the Ad Personam virtual studio, and in true Lambo fashion, it’s doing so by launching the limited edition Aventador SVJ. The production run is limited to just ten units.

What does the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition look like?

From afar, the white and blue exterior doesn’t really excite the senses, and only when you go close to the Aventador SVJ do you see all the special edition details that make this model special in the eyes of many. The predominantly white body comes with a fading hexagonal silver effect that the Ad Personam studio created specifically for this model. The hexagonal patterns fade in and out in certain areas of the body.

The press model is dressed in blue livery, though it is expected that all other Xago Edition models will wear different livery colors to signify their uniqueness from one another. The exterior setup is a nice touch, though I’m not a fan of the white and blue color scheme on the Aventador SVJ. There is a measure of good news, though. Other color options for the livery are available should you want to go in those directions.

Not surprisingly, the interior follows the same design treatment. Hexagonal patterns — they look like honeycombs — adorn the backrest of the two front seats and the padded wall that separates the interior from the engine bay. Blue trim accents are scattered everywhere, too, though that’s going to depend on a specific unit of the Aventador SVJ Xago Edition. The rest of the interior comes in stock configuration. There aren’t any fancy add-ons or upgrades.

What’s with all the hexagon references?

Lord only knows, though I suspect someone at Lamborghini found a way to connect that to Lamborghini’s “hexagonita” design theme.

That’s a fair interpretation, but I do struggle to find the reason why Lamborghini also alluded to the hexagonal clouds on Saturn’s north pole as a key inspiration behind the hexagonal patterns on the Aventador SVJ Xago Edition. Perhaps the Italian automaker has as much of a fascination with the sixth planet in our solar system as it does with historical and legendary bulls? Or maybe it’s just one of those things that you shrug at given that Lamborghini is awesome.

Either way, the hexagonal patterns work in highlighting the Ad Personam’s new virtual studio. At the very least, it’s a small taste of what the studio has to offer to its potential clients.

Are there any engine upgrades to the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition?

While that might be a bummer to some, it’s not like the track-focused supercar isn’t lacking in power and performance. It’s powered by the same 6.5-liter V-12 engine as all other Aventadors, except this engine has been tweaked to produce a whopping 759 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. Combine that with a weight of just 1,525 kilos (3,362 pounds), and you’re looking at a machine that can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds and 0 to 124 mph in just 8.6 seconds, all while hitting a blistering top speed of 219 mph.

How much is the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition?

Lamborghini hasn't released pricing details for the 10-unit Aventador SVJ Xago Edition. That said, you can expect the special edition exotic to sell for more than the standard Aventador SVJ, which carries a starting price of around $570,000. With the level of customization added to the Xago Edition, a price north of $600,000 isn't out of the cards.

Final Thoughts

I’ve always appreciated Lamborghini’s enthusiasm for special edition models, even if certain situations don’t really call for one. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago Edition counts as one of those times.

It’s not really a special edition model, is it? It’s more like a showcase model for Lambo’s Ad Personam studio, highlighting a few of the many options the personalization outfit has at its disposal.

I suppose all of this is a matter of semantics, but when I think of a special edition Lamborghini, I think of models like the Aventador 50 Anniversario or even the Aventador SVJ 63. Those special edition models had unique identities that justified their special edition status.

The Aventador SVJ Xago Edition, on the other hand, is lacking in that department, unless you think hexagons are that special.
