Lamborghini has unveiled the very last Aventador, the LP780-4 ULTIMAE. It is the latest update to Lamborghini's flagship model, joining the ranks of the LP700-4 and S. But, it represents more than just the end of the Aventador name, so it's a lot more special than you might think.

Updated 05/03/2022: Lamborghini took both, the Aventador Ultimae Coupe and Roadster, out for a nice trip on the roads of Emilia Romagna and the Marches. The results are stunning and you can see it in our latest picture gallery. Limited to only 350 coupes and 250 roadsters, the production of the Ultimae - and the traditional V-12 engine - will come to an end in the upcoming months.

Overview

Lamborghini, as promised, unveiled its last-ever hypercar to be powered by a naturally aspirated V-12. As we know, the Italian manufacturer intends on adding some form of a hybrid powertrain to every Lamborghini by 2023.

The Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae is a blend of the Aventador S and the Aventador SVJ, and is available as both a coupe and a Roadster.

Exterior

The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae receives a redesigned front fascia in terms of aesthetics. Its splitter has been increased in size, and air inlets have been installed to improve the car's aerodynamics. It has 20" Silver Dianthus wheels up front and 21" Silver Dianthus wheels up back. They come in bronze, black, and titanium grey.

Performance

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is powered by the ferocious 6.5-liter V-12 engine. The number 780 on the nameplate denotes the power of this beast in PS, so we're talking about 769 horsepower to go with 531 pound-feet of torque.

The liberal use of carbon fiber helps Lamborghini to keep the weight down. The LP 780-4 weighs in at 3,417 pounds. The 7-speed transmission sends power to all four wheels. 0-60 mph is done away within just 2.9 seconds, and It takes 8.7 seconds to reach 124 mph. Lamborghini LP 780 4 Ultimae Pricing and Availability

The Lamborghini LP 780-4 Ultimae will be limited to just 350 units in coupe form while there will be 250 Lamborghini LP 780-4 Roadsters as well.

Pricing has yet to be announced by Lamborghini. However, we can take an easy guess that since this is a limited run Lambo and the last in the reign of V-12s, prices will be north of half a million dollars.

Conclusion

Lamborghini was unlikely to introduce a new model in the traditional sense. According to the automaker's initial plan, a fully new top model should have debuted by now, but in light of the advancement of EVs, the sports carmaker has chosen to give the ten-year-old Lamborghini one last facelift. The most recent edition should increase the life cycle by a few years.

The very first examples have been already delivered, and the supercar will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 8 to 11.
