Lamborghini Urus test mules have been spotted recently doing some sort of pre-production testing on public roads and there are a lot of voices saying Sant'Agata Bolognese is gearing up for the unveil of the so-called Urus Evo. Here's what we know about it.

What's with the Evo add-on?

The Urus has three years in the market this year and a mid-cycle refresh was due. Lamborghini didn't waste any time in putting wheels in motion for a facelifted Urus, and if the rumor mill is right, it will debut under the Urus Evo nameplate.

Adding the Evo suffix to one of its models isn't new for Lamborghini, as it did it a while back with its Huracan entry-level supercar.

The Urus Evo won't bring radical changes despite what the name might suggest

It's obvious that Lamborghini wants to keep the Urus in top shape. The super-SUV has been doing extremely well sales-wise and it helped the carmaker rake in some serious profit. Even so, Lambo won't try to dilute the recipe too much.

In fact, Motor1 says the Urus Evo will prove to be a subtle evolution in pretty much every aspect. This means that the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 will continue to crank out 641 horsepower or at the very most gain a modest bump in power. Torque should stay unchanged, though, at 626 pound-feet.

On the visual front, the Urus Evo won't depart from the current edgy approach. Expect, however, certain retouches here and there, especially areas such as the front grille, headlights, rear end, and taillights. A couple of new wheel designs might also be on the table, together with new body colors.

As far as the interior is concerned, again, there's no reason for Lamborghini to alter the current state of affairs. Sure, the Italians could pump some more tech features into the Urus Evo, add some new trim options and new materials, but that should be about it.

Normally, the Urus Evo should arrive towards the end of this year, that is if everything goes as planned and Covid-19 won't get back to last year's shenanigans with the logistical chain.

If the Urus Evo debuts this year, then a market launch should happen in early 2022, at least for the U.S., as European customers might get the super-SUV towards the end of 2021.
