The Land Rover Discovery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and as is the case with vehicles hitting that mark, Land Rover has released a commemorative model to mark the occasion.
Low and behold, the company has dubbed it the Land Rover Discovery XXV Special Edition. Props to the genius who thought of that name.
On a more serious note, it really is a landmark occasion for the Discovery. After all, it’s been around since 1989; a time when nobody had heard of the Internet yet. More importantly, Land Rover has sold over one million models of this rugged beauty.
So with that in mind, the Discovery XXV Special Edition is as special as its name suggests. It has a choice of four exterior colors - Causeway Grey, Santorini Black, Fuji White and - to mark the jubilee - Indus Silver - each matched with a premium cabin that features Windsor leather on the door tops, instrument binnacle and fascia.
A set of 20-inch, split-five-spoke alloy wheels is also a welcome plus, as are the special "XXV" badging on the tailgate and front doors, and a newly configured interior that now boasts of a twist pile carpet and a leather-covered wooden steering wheel.
The Land Rover Discovery XXV Special Edition is set to hit dealerships later this year at a price of £63,000, which is about $105,400 based on current exchange rates.

Land Rover has had multiple record sales years, and it is looking to capitalize on that momentum with some new models. This week we have some new photos of a new smaller Rover that was undergoing some testing in Sweden.
This new SUV is going to be the replacement for the current Freelander, but it will no longer be called a Freelander. This new Evoque-based model will become part of the Discovery lineup, simplifying the Land Rover model lineup.
The new model carries a codename L550 and it will likely be offered in both five- and seven-seat models. The engine options should mimic what is available now, including a range of V-6 and V-8 engines with a diesel option available for the European markets.
While there isn’t much to see in these photos in regard to styling, but expect the production car to wear a face that is very similar to the Evoque. The stylish mini-SUV has improves sales dramatically, so it makes sense to see Land Rover moving that design across the lineup.
We don’t have any confirmation of when the car will be unveiled, but it should be available as a 2015 model.
A while back it was rumored that Land Rover’s lineup wilould undergo some some important changes, as 16 new models divided into three different categories — luxury (Range Rover), leisure (Discovery/Freelander) and utility (Defender) — would make their way into dealers. One of these new models will be a replacement for the existing Land Rover Freelander, which is nicknamed the "baby Discovery."
Rumors suggest that the new model will most likely drop the "Freelander" name and will take some design cues from the current Evoque to help improve sales and give the SUV a modern look.
The new baby Discovery — internally known as the L550 — will be based on a modified Evoque platform; it will be larger when compared to the current Freelander; and it will be part of the future Discovery family. Judging by its placement and Land Rover’s naming system, this could carry the Discovery Sport name.
The new model is expected to be unveiled in 2016 in both five-seat and seven-seat versions.

Kahn Design again pulls out all the stops with its latest Land Rover Discovery. Equipped with the twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter, V-6 diesel and a whole host of upgrades, this Discovery is truly unique. Another made-to-order example of Kahn perfection.
Outside the seven-passenger SUV, Kahn has added an aggressive aero package that includes a 3D mesh grille, beautiful gun-metal grey 22-inch wheels, vented front and rear air dams, stainless steel entry sill plates, and brake calipers finished in liquid red. LED light strips and privacy glass finish off the look.
As with each Kahn creation, the interior receives a great deal of attention. The plain Land Rover seats are gone. In their place are these exquisitely quilted and perforated leather seats for all seven passengers. The same leather treatment is given to each door’s armrest and atop the dashboard gauge cluster.
Swarovski diamonds encompass the center clock bezel while diamond-quilted leather covers the glove box. Vented aluminum brake and gas pedals ride above the unique floor mats, while a colored rpm gauge keeps close tabs on the 3.0-liter diesels spins per minute.
Even with all the modifications, the Discovery 4 still retains all those legendary Land Rover go-anywhere capabilities. Land Rover’s Terrain Response system includes five different settings for challenging obstacles and harsh climates. The four-corner air suspension provides a sporty ride while hitting the pavement and can be raised for tackling tougher territory.
Overall, the Kahn Design Discovery 4 offers enough style and bespoke luxury to suit those with finer tastes, as each vehicle is custom built for each buyer.

The fourth-generation Land Rover Discovery — known as the LR4 in the U.S. — was launched in 2009 and since then, it’s remained relatively unchanged. That’s all about to change, as for the 2014 model year the SUV receives a revised exterior look and more importantly, the old gas-burning V-8 engine gets the old heave-ho in favor of the new, 3.0-liter V-6 engine that is more fuel-efficient and delivers nearly the same performance figures.
For the 2014 model year, the Discovery receives a new front fascia that includes new, headlights, "Discovery" badges and bumper. Land Rover continues to offer the Black Design Pack, which updates the exterior look even further and adds new 20-inch alloy wheels.
The new Land Rover Discovery will be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will roll into dealerships in mid-November.

It looks like Land Rover has big plans for the next eight years. Apparently, the company plans to unveil no less than 16 new models and we have the entire list of those models to share. This list comes courtesy of Autocar, who has featured the upcoming models divided into three categories: luxury (Range Rover), leisure (Discovery/Freelander), and utility (Defender).
The first category includes most of the new models like the new Range Rover model and its Sport variant, the Evoque XL and an Evoque Cabrio version, and a new baby Evoque. For the second category, Land Rover plans to offer a new Discovery plus a Luxury version, a Freelander “Super” Seven-Seater and a “Super” Five-Seater, plus a new baby Freelander featuring the same size as the Evoque.
Finally, for the utility line-up, Land Rover is planning to unveil a production version for the DC100 concept, a new Defender offered in both standard and long-wheelbase version, plus a pick-up Defender set to arrive sometime in late 2015 or early 2016.
These vehicles all sound rather promising, but we’ll just have to wait and see if they all really debut as planned.
The Land Rover Discovery 4 entered the 2012 model year with significant engine improvements, as well as a new exterior and interior look. Along with those changes, the British company has announced the addition of a very cool Black Design Pack which creates a striking new modern look for the Discovery 4 and complements the metallic paint finishes of the car.
Since it’s called the Black Design package, we expected a few added black elements and Land Rover delivered with a gloss black grille and fender vents, gloss black door handles and mirror caps, gloss black Land Rover and Discovery 4 badges, and satin black extended roof rails. Customers can also choose between a new set of 19" 7-Split Spoke or 20" 5-Spoke all-black painted wheels.
Under the hood, customers will get the usual 3.0 liter LR-SDV6 engine that delivers a total of 256 HP, a 3.0-liter LR-TDV6 diesel with 211 HP, or a 5.0-liter LR-V8 with 375 HP. All of these engines will be combined with either a ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission or a ZF 6HP28 6-speed automatic transmission.
At some point or another, everyone has been a third, fifth, or even seventh wheel. You know, those times when you are surrounded by couples and you are the only single one in the group. Amidst the couples’ activities, the bickering, and the "quality time," you wonder why you ever thought it would be a good idea to join in on this nightmarish journey through the land of ball and chains. Well, Landrover has now provided single men and women everywhere a reason to grin and bear it: the Landrover Discovery/LR4.
In this ad campaign, Landrover shows how even the 7th wheel can be made extremely comfortable in the LR4’s vast features. The Discovery/LR4 has a new, more comfortable seat design and a wider range of materials to bump up the luxury. Technologically speaking, the LR4 is well-equipped with touch-screen audio systems, a navigation system (Base and Premium), a single slot DVD drive in the audio head unit, and a rear seat audio system operated by new powerful wireless technology called WhiteFireTM via cordless headphones.
The Discovery/LR4 is offered with either a 3.0 LR-TDV6 engine or a 3.0 LR-SDV6 engine. The 3.0 LR-TDV6 engine delivers a total of 211 HP at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 383 lbs-ft at 2,000rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission, while CO2 emissions have been reduced from 244g/km to 224g/km. The 3.0 LR-SDV6 engine produces 256 HP at 4,000rpm and 442 lbs-ft at just 2,000rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with command shift. CO2 emissions have been reduced for this engine option, going down to 230g/km from the previous 244g/km.
No matter how long you stay single, the Landrover LR4 will make sure you are comfortable during those long couples’ trips.
There has been a pretty busy period at the Project Kahn design center. Only this months we have seen lots of updates packages for model from Audi, Land Rover or Porsche. Today is time for another Land Rover model: the Discovery.
For the exterior updates the tuner is offering an impressive styling package consisting of front and rear arch spats, front and rear bumper unit, twin mesh grille, side vents, L.E.D running lights, lowered sports and exhaust system and privacy glass. The final touch has been given by a new set of wheels, size 22"with simple clean lines, soft organic surfaces on the edges of the spoke and a purposeful mechanical center.
For the interior the tuner is offering its clients the possibility to express their own individuality whatever they want. The tuner announced they can design a vehicle with an exterior and an interior to suit the exact specification of the customer.
Land Rover has announced details on the 2012 Discovery 4 model that will be offered with significant engine improvements, as well as a few updates made to both the exterior and interior. For the LR-SDV6 model, the output has been increased from 245 HP to 256 HP, while fuel economy has been improved for all the engines.
For 2012, customers will have the option to choose between three different packages: Technology Pack, HSE Luxury Pack, and the Vision Assist Pack. The exterior updates include a new steering column with chrome bezels, a new premium pebble-like design, a new 19" alloy wheel, or new 20" 5 split-spoke wheels.

Take a look at the Landrover Discovery 4 and defenseless and weak certainly do not come to mind. The mighty SUV towers over the competition - literally - but that doesn’t mean that added protection isn’t somewhere in the cards. Following the release of the 2011 model, Land Rover has revealed the Discovery 4 Armoured which offers a little more than the standard model.
The new Discovery 4 model features a more powerful 5.0-liter LR-V8 direct-injection petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This combination produces a total of 375 HP that can get the SUV from 0-60mph in just 10.6 seconds. In addition to that power, the Discovery 4 features improved passive safety with an airbag restraint system for driver and front passenger and a more luxurious interior with premium leather seats.
Now this is where it gets much more interesting as the Discovery 4 Armoured features ballistic steel armor and glazing which provide ballistic protection in accordance with European standards BS EN1522 level FB6 and BS EN 1063 level BR6 respectively. It features an independent air suspension and modifications that include uprated air springs and retuned dampers, larger diameter anti-roll bars, and heavy duty Alcon disc brakes front and rear.
Doesn’t sound like something that wants to be messed with, does it?

Black and white are colors that will always be in fashion so it’s really no surprise that automakers choose these two colors when devising some of their special editions. Land Rover is just another example of that as they have unveiled a special edition Discovery 4 that pays tribute to those exact monochromatic colors. Called the Discovery 4 ’Landmark’, this special edition will be offered in Santorini Black or Fuji White color schemes and will go on sale in January 2011.
The exterior of the Landmark edition will be distinguished by Santorini Black finish grille vanes, gloss black 20" 5-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels, privacy glass, and Satin Black extended roof rails. The interior gets Taurus interior leather which comes in either Ebony or - for the first time in a Discovery - Ivory. Under the hood there is a highly efficient 3.0 liter SDV6 twin turbo diesel engine.
The new Discovery 4 Landmark will also be offered with the Terrain ResponseTM system, which optimizes the vehicle set-up for virtually all on-road or off-road driving situations, with five different settings to suit different terrains.
