The new-generation Range Rover has been testing ever since 2011 and when the standard model arrived on the market, we knew the Sport version would be just one step behind. The standard Range Rover arrived last September at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, but Land Rover chose to swap continents for the Sport version, and introduce it at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Just like the standard Range Rover, the Sport model will be all about the reduction of weight. For that, Land Rover has paid extra attention to the materials used to construct the vehicle. The most most important addition is an all-new, first-in-class aluminum architecture that helps save an amazing 420 kg (925 pounds).

The new Range Rover Sport will be put on sale in the third quarter of 2013. Customers will have the possibility to choose between four equipment levels: S, SE, HSE and Autobiography.

Update 04/24/2013: Land Rover has unveiled today a new promo video for the new Range Rover Sport — the most dynamic, agile and responsive Land Rover ever. Enjoy!

The Range Rover Sport Seriously Climbed Heaven's Gate

The Range Rover Sport Seriously Climbed Heaven’s Gate

This stunt was not for the weak-of-heart

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport has already established itself as a do-it-all SUV that can tackle the roughest of terrains. Still, the folks over at Land Rover probably didn’t feel too confident about adding its ability to conquer China’s daunting Dragon Road in Tianmen Mountain in any one of the SUV’s brochures. Nobody’s done the challenge before because it’s thought to be impossible. The road itself is notorious for its 99 turns, but if that isn’t enough, it culminates with a 999-step, 45-degree angle concrete staircase that leads to the absolutely mesmerizing Heaven’s Gate rock formation. Eager to prove everyone wrong, Land Rover went to China to see if it could make history. Well, it was either that or disaster. Either way, it made for quite the stunt.

Is Range Rover jumping into the SUV Coupe segment?

Our spy photographers just captured a rather odd-looking SUV tracking around the Nürburgring. Turns out, this heavily camouflaged test mule is the beginnings of a SUV Coupe from Range Rover. Yep, more than eight years after BMW debuted the X6 and a year after Mercedes-Benz released the GLE Coupe, Range Rover is hopping into the ring.

Range Rover’s high-riding coupe appears to share its chassis with the Range Rover Sport. We’d expect the two SUVs to share the same wheelbase and suspensions systems, although the coupe will undoubtedly have a unique outward appearance. Inside, the new Rover coupe will carry the current JLR design language, but could depart slightly from the status quo with a sportier appearance.

So will the Range Rover coupe do well in the market? Well, it’s hard to say, but BMW has been selling between 3,000 to 6,000 X6s in the U.S. since 2008, but with a sharp uptick to nearly 8,000 units in 2015. The X6’s European sales are more respectable, with the SUV selling 14,158 examples in 2015.

The GLE Coupe’s U.S. sales are lumped in with the GLE SUV, so it’s hard to say how well the new coupe is doing. In Europe, however, Mercedes sold 4,324 examples in 2015. That’s not terrible considering the GLE Coupe debuted as a 2016 model and was only available in dealerships for part of the year. Nevertheless, we’d bet Mercedes has a hit on its hands.

Range Rover would be wise to offer something slightly different – something slightly more SUV-ish – to lure buyers away from the competition. After all, BMW and Mercedes has the sporty theme covered, why not jump on the sporty/off-road idea? So will the Range Rover Coupe be a success? Only time will tell. In the mean time, let’s dive into these spy photos. Keep reading for the run-down.

Update 12/29/2016: Our spy photographers caught the upcoming Range Rover Sport Coupe out for a new testing session, this time during cold weather conditions in Sweden. As you can see from the photos the prototype looks pretty much identical to the previous ones, meaning that the car is still under intense testing.

2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

Small updates on the outside, big updates inside

Land Rover’s popular Range Rover Sport is getting some attention for the 2017 model year. Small changes to the exterior pale in comparison to the new technologies integrated into the interior. From advanced driving aids and upgrades to the Terrain Response 2 system to an innovative trailer towing app and a new 10.2-inch infotainment screen, the 2017 updates bring big new for technophiles.

The Range Rover Sport’s drivetrain remains unchanged, including its 550-horspower output and legendary 4WD system. Changes to the exterior basically denote the new model year and the updates hidden inside the leather-lined cabin.

These changes are the first big updates for the Range Rover Sport since the second-generation’s introduction in 2013. Before that, the first generation Rover saw action from 2005 to 2012 with a facelift in 2009. Continuing with its aluminum-intensive structure and powerful V-8, the 2017 Range Rover Sport should provide all the same driving pleasure as before, but with added conveniences and technology that make ownership fun.

Let’s dive into the 2017 updates.

Range Rover’s track star readies a refresh

Only two years after its introduction, it seems the Range Rover Sport SVR is getting some updates. Presumably being readied for the 2017 model year, the supercharged SUV was spotted by our photographers coated in camouflage.

Despite the coverings, its clear Range Rover designers didn’t go overboard with design updates. In fact, every visible body panel appears to be unchanged. There is, however, plenty of opportunity for updated air intakes that reside ahead of the front tires. And while there’s no discernable exterior change to note, we fully expect Range Rover to update the Sport SVR’s powertrain.

Currently the Sport SVR packs the 550-horsepower version of Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-liter V-8. The 2017 refresh should bring the extra 17 horsepower found in the Jaguar F-Type SVR, boosting power to 567 horses.

Interior accoutrements will likely get a modest update as well. Expect new trim and leather offerings, as well as the latest version of JLR’s infotainment software. We’re not expecting anything major here, so the current interior should mostly carry over unchanged.

There’s still plenty to talk about, so continue reading for more.

2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR

In 2006, Land Rover took a risk when it strayed from its off-road roots and released the Range Rover Sport. This was a direct shot at the luxurious and sporty SUVs from Bimmer and Mercedes. The debut Range Rover Sport had two 4.4-liter, V-8 engines available, a naturally aspirated one with 300 horses and 315 pound-feet of torque, and a supercharged one that pumped out 390 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. In 2010, The RR Sport moved onto a 5.0-liter V-8 that produced 375 horses in its base form and 510 ponies with a supercharged V-8. In 2014, the Range Rover Sport underwent a full overhaul that resulted in a new, more aerodynamic body and a 3.0-liter V-6 that put down 340 horsepower replacing the base V-8. As we head toward the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 27, 2014, Land Rover has unveiled the most powerful Range Rover Sport yet, the SVR.

Developed by the company’s newly founded Special Vehicle Operations division, the Range Rover Sport SVR follows into the footsteps of the Jaguar F-Type Project 7. Stuffed with an uprated version of JLR’s supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8, the SVR is the most powerful Range Rover ever built.

As with all SVO projects, the Range Rover Sport SVR is also unique by design, carrying styling cues and interior features that are not available on the standard model or even the Autobiography trim. The SVR is a truly special vehicle in all departments, but to find out why you’ll have to check out our full review past the jump.

Updated 11/27/2015: Land Rover dropped a new video in which it shows the new Range Rover Sport SVR in action on a full-scale replica of the Silverstone ice circuit carved on frozen Lake Udjaur, in Sweden. Hit play to watch it!

Land Rover Reveals Remote-Controlled Range Rover Sport

Land Rover Reveals Remote-Controlled Range Rover Sport

It’s amazing how science fiction turns into reality over the course of time. Remember James Bond’s BMW 7-Series in “Tomorrow Never Dies” that special agent Q had fitted with remote control capabilities? Mr. Bond simply pulled out his cell phone and navigated his armored luxury sedan through a parking garage of would-be assassins. Well that technology has made it to the real world. Check out Jaguar Land Rover’s new remote control feature on this Range Rover Sport research vehicle.

Customers with a so-equipped vehicle would be able to control it via an app on their cell phone. While the technology is still in its infancy, JLR engineers are testing its viability for several reasons. First, it gives customers an easy way to maneuver their Land Rover out of tight parking spaces while remaining outside the vehicle, closely watching its movements. Second, customers who venture off road can use the app to drive the vehicle while acting as their own spotter.

The system is currently designed to work with the user within 10 meters of the vehicle but not so close as to be in danger of being hit. The vehicle’s key fob must also be detected within range. The vehicle will also be limited to four mph while in remote control operation. The driver will be able to select Terrain Response settings for varying conditions.

This technology brings autonomous driving one step closer, and according to JLR, their goal is to offer owners a choice of engaged or autonomous driving. “Research into technologies like these won’t only help us deliver an autonomous car,” says Dr. Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology at JLR. “They will help make real driving safer and more enjoyable. The same sensors and systems that will help an autonomous car make the right decisions, will assist the driver and enhance the experience to help prevent accidents.” He concluded saying, “Autonomous car technologies will not take away the fun of driving.” Let’s hope not.

 First Spectre TV spot: Video

First Spectre TV spot: Video

James Bond movies are never short on automotive eye candy, but Spectre looks like it’s going to be pretty special. In this new trailer, we get our closest look yet at the epic chase scene through Rome between Bond in a Q branch-prepped 2015 Aston Martin DB10 and villain Mr. Hinx in a 2010 Jaguar C-X75 supercar. Bond’s DB10 appears to have been fitted with some aft-facing flamethrowers, which are probably great for discouraging tailgaters, but we’re sure the Jag has some tricks of its own.

We also get a glimpse of a second massive action sequence featuring the specially prepped 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR and Land Rover Defender “Big Foot” sliding through the snow, as wall as a plane ride looks like it didn’t end so well.

Unlike the Range Rover duo, you’ll never be able to buy either car featured in the Rome chase scene. The Aston Martin DB10 was built exclusively for Spectre, but it should give us pretty good idea of what the forth-coming 2017 DB9 replacement will look like. The C-X75 debuted in 2010 as Jaguar’s newest halo supercar, but never made it to production. It uses a high-revving, 500-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that generates power for the electric motors mounted at each wheel.

Spectre appears to pick up right where Skyfall left off. The first shot of the trailer shows MI6 headquarters, which is still in ruins following the bombing in the last movie. Bond is also given some items recovered from the Skyfall operation that will likely reveal some sensitive new information about his personal life.

Spectre hits theaters in November of this year.

Jaguar Land Rover Announces Three Cars To Be Featured in Bond Spectre

Jaguar Land Rover Announces Three Cars To Be Featured in Bond Spectre

The 24th installment of the James Bond franchise, set to be called "Spectre," will feature an array of eye candy for car enthusiasts, as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced that three of its special vehicles will appear in the movie. We already knew that Aston Martin’s DB10 will be the new "Bond car," but the three JLR models are likely to be equally rewarding for car fans. I say this since these will not be stock vehicles, but ones provided by Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, which is kind of like a skunkworks team for the British company.

The breathtaking Jaguar C-X75 concept will feature in a car chase through Rome alongside Bond’s Aston Martin DB10, with Jaguar mentioning that a number of C-X75 models have been built specifically for the film in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. Unlike the original electric-gas turbine concept car, the C-X75 used in "Spectre" will be powered by a supercharged, 5.0-liter, V-8, so expect some old-school exhaust sounds during the chase sequence.

The other two JLR vehicles to make an appearance are a Range Rover Sport SVR and a heavily modified Land Rover Defender, both of which have already finished filming for "Spectre" in Austria. As some of you know, the Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest and most powerful production Landie ever, but I have a feeling that the Defender will leave a more lasting impression on movie-goers, thanks to its lifted chassis and 37-inch off-road tires.

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport by Mansory

It’s been a while since we last heard from Swiss tuner Mansory. So we were admittedly caught by surprise when the tuner sent us details of its new aftermarket program. We’ve gotten used to Mansory building insane-looking kits for supercars we forgot that it’s equally adept in dressing up SUVs like the Range Rover Sport.

The tuner’s program for the Range Rover Sport is typical Mansory. It’s got a comprehensive mix of aerodynamic and performance upgrades for a wide range of Range Rover models, including the Sport and the Vogue.

You only need to look at the photos to see how different the Range looks. It didn’t satisfied our overwhelming seal of approval, but some of us do think that it’s an acquired taste, which really is what Mansory is all about.

But we can’t argue about the engine upgrade on the Range Rover Sport, which includes a pulley kit used in addition to the famed Mansory engine control unit. Mansory’s got the pulse of every mechanical program it does and this one for the Range is no different.

Kind of makes up for that over-the-top look of the British luxury SUV.

Range Rover Sport SVR Becomes Fastest Production SUV on the Nürburgring

Range Rover Sport SVR Becomes Fastest Production SUV on the Nürburgring

The Nurburgring has seen another record fall on its hallowed grounds, only this time the record-setter is the Range Rover Sport SVR. Yes, Range Rovers are SUVs, although you probably knew that by now. But the Range Rover Sport SVR is still something else and it proved as much when it lapped the legendary race track in 8 minutes and 14 seconds.

That isn’t just a fast lap time; it’s record-breaking lap time that has earned the Range Rover Sport SVR the distinction of being the fastest production SUV to lap the Nurburgring.

Don’t sleep on the Range Rover Sport SVR’s accomplishment because it’s an incredibly impressive lap time for an SUV that just made its debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. It didn’t take long for it to make quite an impression, right? Of course, what else would you expect from an SUV that features a 5.0-liter, supercharged, V-8 engine that pumps out 542 horsepower?

The Range Rover Sport SVR isn’t expected to hit dealerships until next year. But as early as July 2014, the SUV has already established itself as one of the fastest and most powerful SUVs in recent years.

Don’t be surprised if the Range Rover Sport SVR turns into a sales hit when it becomes available next year. With a record-setting lap time on its mantle, there’s no reason to believe otherwise.

2014 Range Rover Sport crowned ’Four Wheeler of the Year’

In 2013, Land Rover introduced a totally new generation of its flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs. The brand is known to produce some of the finest premium off-road luxury vehicles in the world and it did not come as a surprise to us when the world bestowed it with praise, as has been the case with Land Rovers historically.

Yes, the Range Rover has grown into a mature off-road vehicle and is in league of its own, when it comes to luxury motoring. While, the Range Rover sits at the top of the food chain, its smaller sibling, the Range Rover Sport, has had its fair share of successes. MotorTrend magazine honored the RR Sport with the coveted ’SUV of the Year’ and now Four Wheeler Magazine has awarded the Range Rover Sport with "Four Wheeler of the Year" for 2013.

This is the third time a Land Rover SUV has won this award after intense and grueling testing both on tarmac and on rugged terrain designed to test the off-road capabilities of the vehicle.

"It is a great achievement for the very luxurious and performance oriented Range Rover Sport to be named ’Four Wheeler of the Year,’ by the country’s oldest four-wheel drive enthusiast publication," said Kim McCullough, Brand Vice President, Land Rover North America.

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport by Arden

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport by Arden

Big, bad and ready to rumble, this Land Rover Range Rover means all sorts of business. And then some.

In some respects, that’s what you expect from an aftermarket company like Arden, which has specialized in these types of programs for Range Rovers. It’s latest take is no different, and yet when you take into account the kind of performance upgrade it gave the SUV, you stand and wonder if it could’ve been more.

That’s the respect we have for Arden.

But hey, this tuning program is still a whale of an upgrade, something Arden achieved by giving the Range Rover a supercharger kit, a new sport catalytic converter, an optimized ECU unit and a high-performance exhaust system. Considering that the standard Range Rover’s 5.0-liter, V-8 engine can produce a tight 510 horses and 461 pound-feet of torque, it’s an impressive feat that Arden was able to spike the numbers to a staggering 650 horsepower and 580 pound-feet of torque. This is good enough to improve the SUV’s 0-to-60 mph time from 5.3 seconds to somewhere around 3.8 and before hitting a top speed of 161 mph.

No word yet on how much this program is going to cost, but with the promise of 650 horsepower to play around with, we’ve no doubt that it’s going to set customers back a few bucks.

2014 Range Rover Sport by Startech

2014 Range Rover Sport by Startech

The Range Rover Sport is one of those SUVs that doesn’t really need to a whole lot to grab attention. But if an aftermarket company is willing to give it some added shine, we doubt the SUV will have any complaints about it.

One of the best tuners for Range Rovers happens to be really good at things like this and at the 2013 Essen Motor Show, Startech presented a program that took a pretty long time to build. Then again, with programs of this quality, you can’t short change the time it takes to get it up in full swing.

Designed to further enhance the Range Rover Sport’s already appealing visage, the Startech program comes with a load of new features, the most prominent of which are new body components, including a new front bumper with larger air intakes and hooked up with LED daytime running lights. At the rear, a new diffuser was also installed, as well as a stainless-steel sports exhaust system, adding that throatier response that will be of good use with the performance kit added under the SUV’s hood.

Rounding out the exterior mods is a set of 22-inch alloy wheels and a suspension lowering module that can drop the SUV’s ride height by about 25 mm (0.98 inches).

Meanwhile, the interior’s been spruced up with some fine upholstery material, something the Range Rover Sport deserves. Be it premium leather or Alcantara, the material is nothing but top-of-the-line and complemented nicely by carbon-fiber and exotic-wood trim.

Finally, this program wouldn’t be complete without any performance mods and that’s exactly what Startech did. The tuner equipped the SUV with an SD30 S tuning kit, driving up the output of the Range Rover Sport to 323 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque, which is a nice jump from the stock 258 horsepower and 600 Nm (443 pound-feet) of torque from the stock 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. This power allows the vehicle to hit 62 mph in 6.9 seconds to go with a top speed of 138 mph.

Range Rover Sport Sets a New Record Crossing "The Empty Quarters"

Range Rover Sport Sets a New Record Crossing "The Empty Quarters"

Land Rover has done it again! This time with the Range Rover Sport, Land Rover has broken the land speed record for crossing one of the most inhospitable places on Earth. It’s no secret that despite their relative softening over the years, Land Rovers are still synonymous with land exploration. That’s what its cars are meant to do and what better place to explore the limits of the 2014 Range Rover Sport than to attack the desert of the Arabian Peninsula.

The Range Rover Sport completed the journey in record time, setting the fastest average speed of 50.87 mph in the process. The starting point for the record run was Wadi Adda Wasir in Saudi Arabia, and the challenge was to cross the "Empty Quarters" over to the border with the United Arab Emirates. The Land Rover team crossed the vast expanse of the desert in 10 hours and 22 minutes, covering a distance of 527 miles.

Moi Torrallardona, Dakar Rally veteran from Spain, was at the helm of the Range Rover Sport. With years of off-road experience under his belt, Torrallardona was the perfect man for the job.

“Desert driving requires a unique combination of speed, finesse and technical skill. It is crucial that you tackle the dunes with precision. Knowing the right time to go full throttle and the right time to slow down, takes experience and clear judgement,” said Torrallardona.

“This unique way of driving requires a vehicle which has the same skillset - it must be both incredibly fast but also agile, responsive and well planted. The Range Rover Sport is exactly that. It is massively capable and is truly the best tool for conquering the desert,” he added.

2013 Range Rover Sport Nighthawk by CDC International

For the most part, the 2013 Range Rover Sport doesn’t really need too many updates, since it is already quite the looker and rather powerful straight off of the showroom floor. Also going against it is the fact that the 2014 model is all-new. Despite that, tuners seem to be flocking to this model in recent weeks

The Range Rover Sport received a new upgrade kit from the German tuner, CDC International GmbH. It focused most of its work on updating the exterior and the interior look of the car, but CDC also managed to squeeze a few extra horsepower from the 5.0-liter, V-8 supercharged engine.

To milk the extra power, CDC adjusted the supercharger system via a gear change and an updated control unit. As a result, the Range Rover Sport now delivers a total of 580 horsepower and 695 Nm (512 pound-feet) — up from the standard 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque.

The tuner also installed a new stainless-steel exhaust system equipped with a valve system that helps further improve the incredible sound delivered by the V-8 engine.

2014 Range Rover Sport by Lumma Design

The new-generation Range Rover Sport is one of our favorite SUVs launched this year. It has a great look, a great presence on the road and four engines to choose from. It looks like Lumma Design agreed with us, as, just a few weeks after the car made its world debut, the tuner came up with a first kit for it.

The kit is part of Lumma’s CLR RS upgrade lineup that also includes models like the M5 CLR 730 RS. The kit includes a new front spoiler, widened fenders and a new front grille. For the rear, the tuner also installed a huge apron that includes a rear diffuser, a new spoiler lip and a roof spoiler.

The new Range Rover Sport sits on a set of wheels sized 22 or 23 inches and painted in either black or polished anthracite. For the interior, the Lumma offers a combination of wood, leather and carbon fiber.

2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport R

Land Rover unveiled the new-generation Range Rover Sport earlier this year at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Back then, everyone believed that this was all the new Range Rover lineup had to offer, but today a series of spy shots proved us wrong.

Our spy photographers have caught a very mysterious Range Rover Sport just outside the Nürburgring. Why do we think this is no ordinary Range Rover Sport? Well, the answer is quite simple: it wears a new front bumper with bigger air intakes. All these changes are a clear indication that under the hood there is something more powerful than the current 510-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 supercharged engine.

What we cannot tell for sure is what name this new version will wear, but "Range Rover Sport R" sounds like the perfect choice for an even more powerful Range Rover Sport.

We will keep you post it with more details on this mysterious model as soon as we will find out more!

2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport GTS-X by Overfinch

While everyone is waiting for the new generation Range Rover Sport to arrive, the British guys over at Overfinch have developed a very cool tuning package based on the current generation SUV. The package not only includes a vivacious exterior tuning package, but also increases the engine’s output to an amazing 575 HP - a 50 HP increase over the car’s standard 525 HP.

This power increase was achieved by an ECU remapping for the supercharged 5.0 V8 engine, a custom airbox, and a new exhaust system. As a result, the Range Rover Sport goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 145 mph.

Adding to the pizzazz of the Range Rover Sport is a bright orange exterior paint finish with massive 22-inch Titan alloy wheels combined with new Brembo disk brakes. The tuner has also installed a new lowering module for a more menacing stance and a clean carbon fiber package for the interior.

You want power and good looks, it’ll cost you. The car and package combo for the Land Rover Range Rover Sport GTS-X by Overfinch will set customers back £147,500 (about $230,000 at the current exchange rates), which is almost double the price of the standard Ranger Rover Sport.

2014 Range Rover Evoque Sport

Brought onto the market in the mid of 2011, theRange Rover Evoque shortly became one of the most successful models offered by Land Rover. So, as no surprise, the company will try to diversify the list of versions offered and after the previously rumored Grand Evoque andEvoque Cabrio, new details suggest that the company will also be offering a Sport version for the SUV.

In an interview with the British magazine AutoExpress, design director Gerry McGovern has suggested that such a model is being considered. Could this be a reaction to the recently announced Audi RS Q3 concept? We are not sure, but we really like the idea of seeing a sporty Evoque out there.

As for the engines to be used in the new models, rumors are talking about an updated version of the current 240bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo, tuned to deliver more than 300 HP. But a 2.2-litre SD4 engine will also be offered for the diesel fans out there, also with an output increased from the current 190 HP to at least 210 HP.

However, do not get to excited, the Range Rover Evoque Sport will make its debut late in 2013.

2012 Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition by Kahn Design

Ever the expert in tuning programs for the Range Rover, Kahn Design still manages to build some unique packages, further illustrating just how good these guys are when it comes to working on the British SUV brand.

For their latest program, Kahn Design turned their attention towards the Range Rover Sport which they’re calling the Capital City Edition. To keep with their fresh approach in tuning Range Rovers, Kahn Design fitted the Capital City Edition with an RS600 body kit that includes a new front lip, a new rear diffuser, a unique two-tone, tinted windows, smoked lights, and a white-and-red finish with a predominantly white color on the car. This is matched with a red bonnet or a striped red bonnet, and plenty of other red details on the car. In addition, Kahn Design also fitted the Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition with a new set of 22" RS600 wheels finished in matte grey with a red outer lip.

For the interior, Kahn Design will provide a black leather treatment with red accents. Add that to new components like a Kahn instrument binnacle, a new steering wheel, a quilted leather upholstery and aluminum accents and pedals, and you have an overall program that not only speaks to the awesomeness of the Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition, but to the level of expertise Kahn Design continues to exhibit.

2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition

2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition

Anytime they attend a major auto show, the fine chaps over at Land Rover are always looking to make a splash. Look no further for all the evidence than the 2012 New York Auto Show where, to the surprise of no one, the British automaker has revealed a pair of special edition models.

Joining the LR4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition in waving to the New York crowd is the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition. While it doesn’t carry all the luxury bells and whistles of its co-debutante, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition is still cool enough to justify its limited edition billing.

For starters, the model will only come in a choice of two exterior paint finishes - Fuji White and Santorini Black - while also receiving a slew decorative trim pieces tacked in various parts of the SUV. Inside, there’s not as much leather, but there is plenty of bespoke carbon fiber trim to go with contrast leather in red and black with contrast stitching.

As far as power goes, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition will make use of a supercharged V8 that delivers a tidy 510 horsepower. And just in case you’re wondering how "limited" this limited edition Range Rover is, Land Rover will only be building 500 units of this bad boy, exclusively for the US market.

UPDATE 05/18/2012: Landrover has just revealed that the US market will get 500 units of the new Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition, only 300 units in Santorini Black and 200 units in Fuji White.

2012 Range Rover Sport Vesuvius edition by A Kahn Design

Another week, another very cool tuning package coming from Kahn Design. Based on a Land Rover model, of course, their new Range Rover Sport Vesuvius Edition is as impressive as any other tuning kit we have seen coming from them. As you probably are used by now the package includes a series of modifications made to both the exterior and the interior, but nothing has been modified under the hood.

For the exterior Kahn is offering a wide track aerodynamic styling package with vented wide wheel arches and integrated LED daytime running lights, quad stainless steel exhaust system, liquid gold calipers, RS front grille with 3d mesh, grille insert in carbon fiber, exhaust side vents and Kahn branding. The car will be offered with matte pearl grey door handles, Vesuvius orange side vents and a grille surround.

The interior comes with bespoke RS front and rear seats in diamond quilted perforated black leather with Vesuvius orange inserts, matching centre arm rest and door tops, carbon fibre interior facia trim, speedo & rev counter in red, diamond gear selector, Churchill time clock with Swarovski diamond bezel, Kahn illuminated sill plates and machined foot pedals.

Under the hood the engine remains untouched: the 3.0 liter SDV6 diesel engine produces 256hp at 4,000rpm with a maximum torque of 442 lbs-ft at 2,000rpm.

2011 Range Rover Sport RS300 Cosworth by Kahn Design

2011 Range Rover Sport RS300 Cosworth by Kahn Design

British tuning firm, Project Kahn, is going through a bit of a change. From now on, the company will be called A. Kahn Design, after the owner Azful Kahn, but that kind of news is nowhere near exciting enough to announce by itself, so the company has unveiled the first tuning project under the name: the Range Rover Sport RS300 Cosworth. This vehicle is now on sale for £65,875, or about $103,000 at the current exchange rates.

Thankfully, the only thing that changed about the company is the name; they are still delivering some amazing work. The RS300 Cosworth is painted in an amazing "Fugi White" and includes an eight-piece aerodynamic package consisting of Cosworth vented front and rear wheel arch spats with integrated air dams, LED daytime running lights in the front air dams, a Cosworth front grille with 3D mesh, and new exhaust side vents. The Range Rover Sport sits on a new set of 22" Kahn RS/R wheels and will be further equipped with a diamond gear selector, RS300 rev counter, Cosworth speedo, Cosworth time clock fascia insert, Cosworth stainless steel door entry sill plates, Cosworth machined aluminum vented foot pedals, Cosworth quad diagonal exhaust system, new calipers, and Kahn branding. For the interior, A. Kahn Design is offering their usual deal; customers can customize it in any possible combination of color and materials.

Range Rover Vesuvius Edition Sport 300 by Project Kahn

Range Rover Vesuvius Edition Sport 300 by Project Kahn

Vesuvius may remind some people of the Italian volcano that destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79, but in the automotive world, it reminds us of Project Kahn. A few years ago, the British tuner created a tuning kit for the Range Rover Sport called the Vesuvius which provided a duo-tone exterior paint job, as well as other tweaks to the exterior and interior. This package has led to a special edition 2012 Vesuvius Edition Sport 300 that, according to the tuner, "erupts with elegance." The price for this special edition is £69,875 - or about $115,000 at the current exchange rates.

The special edition Vesuvius is painted in the same metallic black with "Vesuvius" matte orange roof stripe and bonnet stripe as found on the original package. The color combination extends to the black rubber sidesteps with an orange edge, the quad exhaust system finished in black, the front extended lip spoiler in orange/black, a grille insert in orange, and Kahn RS22" black alloys with orange stripe.

The lava and dirt color combination doesn’t end there as the tuner has showered the interior of the Range Rover with a new bespoke black/orange RS leather sports interior with front and rear seats, a steering wheel with Vesuvius orange stitching, and quilted door panels. Project Kahn also refined the vehicle with machined vented foot pedals and Kahn exterior and interior branding.

2011 Range Rover Sport Patriotic by Project Kahn

2011 Range Rover Sport Patriotic by Project Kahn

America’s Independence Day is just around the corner - it’s July 4th, in case you didn’t know - and instead of celebrating the day with the typical fireworks and barbecues, Project Kahn is hoping Americans will take kindly to their new "Patriotic" package based off of the 2011 Kahn Range Rover Sport. The British tuner hasn’t done much to the original tuning package, but is offering it with red, white, and blue exterior paint options.

Aside from the patriotic tri-color palette, Project Kahn’s version of the Range Rover Sport comes with a new lower front bumper and a rear low valance. Customizable options include a floating or striped roof - painted in a color, style, and even flag of your choice. For the interior, the tuner is offering a never-ending array of color options, including our good ol’ stars and stripes. Customers can even opt for a diamond studded clock bezel. The package also includes personalized door handles, LED strip lights in the front arches, rubber side steps, calipers, rear spoiler, rev counter, speedo, time clock, stainless steel door entry sills, and a quad exhaust system.

As for the engine, Project Kahn has provided a Cosworth engine upgrade that produces 300 HP with Cosworth branding.

This tuning package isn’t anything to write home about, but if you have the extra cash and want to show off your patriotism in the parking lot as well as poolside, then we guess this is one way to go.

2011 Range Rover Sport by Unichip

2011 Range Rover Sport by Unichip

The Range Rover Sport has been subjected to countless tuning upgrades and aftermarket companies seem to have taken great joy in continuing this plight. The latest tuning company to take a stab at upgrading the luxury British SUV is Unichip, which recently released their latest ECU upgrade for the 3.0-liter TDV6 version of the Range Rover Sport.

As part of their program, Unichip’s new ‘U-connect’ and Uni-Q piggy back ECU remapping allows the Range Rover Sport’s engine to have a substantial turbo boost, resulting in the spike in engine output. After running a series of dyno tests with Range Rover Sport’s newly remapped ECU, it was determined that the SUV saw an increase in overall power, from the standard 260 horsepower all the way up to 281 horsepower at 3,031 RPM and 525 lb/ft of torque at 2,241 RPM. Despite the added power on the SUV, its combined 30 mpg fuel economy rating remains largely unaffected, thanks to the increased low speed torque and the refined ECU remapping.

All told, Unichip’s ECU upgrade for the Range Rover Sport comes at a cost of £423.15, which is about $683.57 based on current exchange rates. It’s a small price to pay for a mighty impressive re-tweaking of the Range Rover Sport’s engine.

2011 Range Rover Sport Diablo by Project Kahn

2011 Range Rover Sport Diablo by Project Kahn

British tuning firm Project Kahn is no stranger to working up some awesome aerodynamic and performance upgrades for the Range Rover so it really didn’t come as a shock to us when the British tuning firm released yet another one of its programs for the British luxury SUV.

This time, Project Kahn is calling their new Range Rover program the ‘Diablo’, an SUV that touches on all of our hidden dark sides: cold, calculated, and ready to pounce at any given time.

Project Kahn made sure to give the Range Rover ‘dark’ and mysterious exterior upgrades, including carbon fiber bullet side vents that were given a red finish. The front lower lip was also given the same red carbon fiber treatment as were the rubber side steps, which were also dressed in red. Then there’s the set of 22” RS lightweight wheels with – you guessed it – red lining running the circumference of the wheels. All the red accents on the Range Rover perfectly compliment the gloss black finish, providing the perfect metaphorical two-tone color of the Diablo.

Inside, Project Kahn dressed up the Range Rover with more of its signature luxury digs, giving the cabin a “bespoke touch” with a leather trim that can be personalized according to the customer’s whims and tastes.

Project Kahn has always prided itself on the body kit programs they create for the Range Rover, and the Diablo is no different. These guys are as ‘against the grain’ as any tuning company we know, so we didn’t really expect anything less than unique and different, which the Range Rover Diablo is.

2011 Range Rover Sport by Merdad

British tuning firm Merdad has been rolling out tuning programs for the Range Rover Sport for quite some time now and it figures that with their popularity getting stronger and stronger, the easy answer would be to continue their roll and translate their latest program for the newest crop of Range Rover Sport models to come out of Land Rover’s production facility.

Not one to be mistaken for anything less than what their reputations are, Merdad gave their new Range Rover Sport program a number of upgrades on both the vehicle’s exterior and interior. Starting on the outside, upgrades made on the program include new front and rear bumper conversions, a new front and two side grilles, including that of the company’s familiar Merdad Lion crest. In addition to these, the program also includes wider wheel arches, new side skirts, a new bonnet with air vents, and a custom-made quad exhaust system.

Meanwhile, the interior has the customary Merdad design touch that features two seats with a middle console on the rear compared to the standard three-seat layout on the rear. Other standard upgrades on the interior include a newly designed steering wheel, new racing pedals, racing dials, and door entrance panels. As is the case with Merdad, the tuning company also allows its customers to put the touches on the interior depending on their tastes and preferences.

Then there are the wheel kits, which Merdad is offering in two variants. One is a set of 22” alloy forged lightweight racing rims designed and built specifically for Merdad. The second variant is a set of 22” alloy forged three-piece five-spoke concave rims made in Japan and also designed and built exclusively for the tuning firm’s collection.

Outside the lines have been smoothed out, and the front had been given a more protruding bumper. The front also features new LED headlamps and a new two-bar grille. The interior has also been redesigned with higher quality materials and soft-touch finishes.

Just like the 2010 Range Rover, Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V8 is making a new home in the SUV. The Sport gets the same 375 hp and 510 hp supercharged upgrade as its bigger brother. This is a 75 hp and 120 hp (respectively) upgrade in this lineup. The naturally aspired version makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 7.2 seconds, and the supercharged version in 5.9 seconds.
