Fancy a dress-up for your Range Rover, sirs and madams?

Land Rover is already regarded as one of the best SUV brands in the world. It’s a distinction the British automaker earned over years of being the standard-bearer of its segment. It comes as little surprise, then, that even with its status, Land Rover continues to find ways to give its customers more reason to come back for more. The latest hint of that comes by way of the new exterior Design Pack, which was developed and created by the brand’s in-house personalization arm, SVO.

The new Design Pack is available to all standard wheelbase Range Rover models built after 2013, and true to form of upholding the finest in British luxury, SVO shunned away from making any overbearing additions to the mighty SUV. If a customer is looking for an outlandish wide-body kit of some sort, best go somewhere else because the Design Pack isn’t going to cut it. (Kahn Design, perhaps?) The Design Pack is all about the subtle nuances with bits and pieces of new components added to give the Range Rover a more refined look compared to what it already has. The pack also comes with an assortment of new gizmos and gadgetry of the functional variety, the kind that would be of great use to owners of the SUV.

What makes the Land Rover Range Rover SVO Design Pack special?

If you’re counting the components included in the SVO Design Pack piece by piece, there’s really not much to go by. This wouldn’t be a problem if you had conservative expectations for the pack, but if you expected the moon, you’re going to be bitterly disappointed. Thankfully, SVO made no bones about the what the Design Pack is all about. Its main function is, after all, in its name.

There’s the bespoke front grille, which you probably won’t even notice unless you take a close look at the car.

Save for a few aero bits like the side vents, sills, and quad tailpipes, most of the exterior enhancements are cosmetic by nature. There’s the bespoke front grille, which you probably won’t even notice unless you take a close look at the car. The front bumper is also redesigned and reconfigured in such a way that it incorporates the horizontal lamps inside the intakes, which by the way also got dressed up in the same mesh-like design as the front grille. The rear section also gets a bumper switch of its own, presumably to accommodate the new quad tailpipes that, incidentally, are also included in the Design Pack. Short of these new pieces, the Range Rover’s exterior styling remains largely unchanged from the current-generation Range Rover.

Unfortunately, SVO’s Design Pack doesn’t extend to the SUV’s interior, so if a customer wants to get upgrades in that specific section, he will have to pay a separate cost for it depending on what kind of materials he wants to use in the cabin of the car. SVO is more than capable of addressing those needs, but in the event a Range Rover owner wants somebody from outside the Land Rover household to do it, there are plenty of other aftermarket options to choose from, not to mention SVO itself.

The good news is that the Design Pack also comes with a range of new technological features that can be fitted into the 2017 Range Rover when the upgrade is purchased. With the pack in tow, the Range Rover gets Advanced Tow Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, Advanced Blind Spot Assist, and an InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10-inch dual-view display.

A Range Rover that has the SVO Design Pack will still feature a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 that’s capable of producing around 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque.

That’s the extent of the upgrades that Jaguar Land Rover is offering as part of its new SVO Design Pack for the Range Rover. That means that engine upgrades are not part of the program, even though it can be availed outside of SVO. Without one, a Range Rover that has the SVO Design Pack will still feature a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 that’s capable of producing around 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque. All four wheels are recipients of all that power, thanks in large part to the company’s familiar ZF-sourced, eight-speed automatic transmission.

So, are you interested in the SVO Design Pack? If you are, you should be pleased to know that Land Rover is actually offering the pack at a pretty decent price of just £10,400 in the U.K. That converts to just north of $13,000 based on current exchange rates. It’s not cheap by any means, but it also won’t make your bank accounts sweat if you’re already able to buy a Range Rover.

So what if I wanted something more for my Range Rover?

The short answer is you go to SVO and ask what else it can cook up. The good news to that is SVO can be quite creative going about its business. Suppose you wanted to posh up the interior of your Range Rover and give it some well-tooled identity, you can decline the SVO Design Pack and ask them for something like the Range Rover Holland and Holland Edition. It’s a perfect Range Rover, especially if you’re into shotguns and all that noisy mess. The downside to that is that it’ll cost a lot more than the SVO Design Pack. How much more, you ask? $244,500, Range Rover included. Even if you take into account the Range Rover’s starting price of £76,795 ($98,000) in the U.K., you’re still paying more than double to get the full Holland and Holland treatment.

If that still isn’t your proverbial cup of tea, you can dive into Land Rover’s menu of options and accessories for its range-topping SUV. This particular option opens up plenty of ideas to improve the look of your Rover. You can get, say, a contrast roof or a panoramic roof. In the interior, there are options like mood lighting, a personal climate zone, and the Rear Executive Class seating option.

You can get all of those and add them to your Range Rovers or you can go directly to the pack options, which offers items like the Black Design Pack, which uses Santorini Black Gloss for the trim finish of the SUV or the aptly named Dark Atlas Exterior Accent Pack., This one includes grille surrounds finished in Gloss Black and a grille mesh and ribs decked out in a Dark Atlas finish.
