E.C.D Automotive Design is famous for its highly customized Land Rover Defender rebuilds. This time, the aftermarket company has taken things up a notch by working on three identical Defender 90s one after the other, but each one is contrastingly different from the other. The rebuild on all the three SUVs involves extensive work inside out and even feature different V-8s under the hood. The company hasn’t revealed the exact prices of these builds, but the D90s start at $180,000.

Project Captiva Drive

The first Defender 90 is called the Project Captiva Drive and it features a Grasmere Green exterior shade with a glossy finish. It comes with a soft top in an off-white shade. The egg-crate grille and a slim bumper give the SUV an authentic, retro look. It rides on 16-inch Wolf steel wheels finished in the same green exterior shade. They are wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain tires with white lettering on them.

The SUV has two regular front ventilated seats and four jump seats at the back. So, not exactly the most convenient setup for seating, but surely helps if you have a lot of luggage to haul. For a vehicle that seems to be driven by the Safari theme, the seats come wrapped in a rather odd Cadence Swan white leather. They look really good but might be tough to maintain. They feel quite luxurious with vertical diamond stitching patterns on them.

The Captiva Drive also features a Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel and All American Nickel instrument cluster gauges. It comes with a Sony touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay. Stuff like backup camera, Bluetooth, and JL audio system wind up the goodies this beast is equipped with.

Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox. The suspension and axles are stock, but the brakes and exhaust system have been upgraded.

Project Fish

Next in line is Project Fish, which is also based on the Defender 90. It is finished in a green shade that’s called Coniston Eggshell in ECD’s speak. This one also comes with a soft top, but it is finished in black. The SUV comes with BFGoodrich all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch Kahn Satin Black wheels. The slim bumper features daytime running LED lights and a bull bar of sorts. Unlike the previous model’s egg-crate grille, the Project Fish comes with a honeycomb mesh grille.

The seating layout is the same as the Project Captiva Drive – two regular ventilated front seats and four inward-facing rear jump seats. The seats are upholstered in more practical brown leather called Distressed Nutmeg. Light brown stitching on it further accentuates the luxurious vibes. Behind the Momo steering wheel are period-specific vintage gauges. It also features a Sony infotainment system with a JL audio system. Other stuff here includes:

-* Back up camera

-* Wireless charger

-* Automatic headlights

-* Three USB ports

Power is routed to all the wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. While it makes use of the stock axles and brakes, the SUV features E.C.D’s air suspension and a Borla stainless steel single pipe exhaust.

Project Crossfire

Finally, there’s the Project Crossfire that looks the best, in my opinion. It is painted in a Mariana Black exterior shade with a full gloss finish. The paint reflects heavily and as you can see in the images, it looks like it’s got a graffiti pattern on it. It comes with a black soft top and a KBX black wind top. The front bumper features a tubular winch, too. The Project Crossfire rides on massive 20-inch Kahn Mondial Retro wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain 295/55 section tires.

Step inside and again, you’ll be welcomed to the same seating layout as the other two. Here, the seats are upholstered in Garrett-Berkshire Black and Espresso leather. These dual-tone seats go well with the all-black runner mats on the floor. A Momo Quark steering wheel wrapped in black leather sits in front of All-American gauges in the instrument cluster. The other goodies here include:

-* Alpine Halo 9 infotainment system

-* Satellite radio tuner

-* Hertz Mille premium speakers and subwoofers

-* JBL Marine Grade speakers mounted on the interior of the roll cage

-* Back-up camera and sensors

-* Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, three USB ports

-* Blind Spot Assistant

-* Automatic headlights

Power is sent to all the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Apart from the axles, nothing else is stock here. The SUV comes with an E.C.D. air ride suspension system, Brembo brakes, and Borla stainless-steel dual exhaust twin pipes.
