2021 Land Rover Defender 130 "Project Mule" by ECD Automotive Design
E.C.D. Automotive Design is known for Land Rover rebuilds. The company has worked on many unique projects in the past and is here with another one based on the Defender 130 pickup truck. Called the Project Mule, it comes with a plethora of changes inside out. It features a Chevy LS3 engine under the hood, an off-road suspension with a lift kit, teakwood bed, sheepskin and cowhide interior, and so on.
2021 Land Rover Defender Works V8 Trophy
The previous-gen Defender is one of the most sought-after vehicles in the market. Aftermarket companies acquire it and give it its own unique twists, each one a lot different than the other. Land Rover has jumped on the wagon, too, and come up with a limited-production Defender Works V8 Trophy. The SUV will come with classic looks and a V-8 engine under the hood. The automaker will build just 25 examples, but none of them are earmarked for the U.S. market. The price? A little over quarter-million dollars!
2021 Ares Design Defender Spec 1.2
Land Rover Defender is one of the most popular choices for tuners and aftermarket companies to show off their skills and creativity. This time, it’s Ares Designs’ turn to show off what it could make of this butch SUV. Called the Defender Spec 1.2, it comes with changes inside out. The exterior includes stuff like carbon fiber bodywork and a panoramic roof and the interior benefits from some luxurious touches. Even the four-cylinder engine is swapped in favor of a V-8 engine for that extra grunt and roar.

The Land Rover Defender needs no introduction. After a long run, the company sent it on a hiatus in 2016, only for it to return in a freshed, modern avatar to keep up with the competition. It came out looking a little less old-school, but still as rugged as ever.
This time, it wasn’t just the sturdy build that made it a compelling off-roader, but also the modern gadgets and gizmos that could put the other off-roaders out there to shame. The top trim is dangerously close to the six-digit price territory, but will that stop people from buying it? Himalaya is known to create builds of timeless vehicles. One of them is the Defender, with which the aftermarket company has had a love affair for a long time. Last year, Himalaya worked on the new Defender to create a special edition called Spectre. Now, the company has laid its hand on the renowned moniker to build a 650-horsepower beast that inducts itself into Himalaya’s flagship Summit Series.
2020 Land Rover Defender Yachting Edition by Carlex Design
Carlex is known for its out-of-the-box themes and designs. A couple of months back, the aftermarket company came up with a Yachting Edition of the Mercedes-AMG G63, which was designed for a customer in Dubai. It looks like the design pleased the enthusiasts as well as the folks at Carlex because it has now come up with another Yachting Edition, but this time it is based on the Land Rover Defender. In all honesty, it looks as sweet as the G 63 itself and comes with a lot of new stuff inside, on the outside, and none under the hood.

Such was his love for the classic Defender that he tried to purchase the rights from Land Rover. When denied, he went on to build an SUV from the ground up that takes heavy inspiration from the old Defender. Although it looks the part, is the Ineos Grenadier as tough as the classic Land Rover?
2020 Land Rover Defender 110 "Project Rowdy" by ECD Automotive Design
Land Rover redefined the way off-roaders are perceived. The automaker brought class and finesse to many off-roaders and launched many monikers that are fondly remembered even today. The Defender is one of them. The badge came to life in the 1980s, before which it was known as the Land Rover Ninety and One Ten. The automaker pulled the plug on it in 2016, but brought it back again last year. In 2018, Land Rover rolled out a special edition of the Defender called the Defender Works V-8.
A lot of aftermarket companies have customized it over the years, but one company called ECD Automotive Design has taken a special liking towards it. The company specializes in customizing Land Rover SUVs in unimaginable ways. This time around, it has worked on the old-school Defender 110 which it calls the ‘Project Rowdy’. The 2020 Land Rover Defender is a brand-new SUV that revives a nameplate that the British firm discontinued in 2016. But not only it marks the Defender’s return after three years, it also marks the nameplate’s return to the U.S. market after 22 years. The 2020 Defender is a familiar sight thanks to its boxy design, but that’s the only feature that reminds of its predecessor. Underneath, the 2020 Defender sports a modern, all-aluminum monocoque architecture and, for the first time, it comes with a mild hybrid drivetrain.
The 2020 Defender also comes into dealerships with a complete engine lineup that includes both gasoline and diesel powerplants. However, the oil burners aren’t available in the United States. The 2020 Defender remains as versatile as its predecessor with various interior layouts available. You can order it as a classic five seater, but you can also opt for a front jump seat and turn it into a six seater. Two addition third-row seats are also available, so the Defender can also become a seven- or eight-seat SUV. 2019 Land Rover Defender Spectre by Himalaya
Land Rover launched the all-new 2020 Defender a couple of days back, and the SUV has it has been the talk of the internet ever since. In fact, the hype is so extensive that even aftermarket company. If you remember, the new Defender was spotted without clothes for the first time on the movie set of the upcoming James Bond movie “No Time To Die” just about a week before the official launch. As it turns out, South Carolina based Himalaya decided to customize this Defender, taking inspiration from another previous Bond movie, Spectre, and even gave it the same name. Does it look exciting? 2017 East Coast Defender “Project Beast”
The name “Defender” carries some serious weight in the world of off-roading. With a long history of military service and simply unflappable talent off-road, this iconic model from Land Rover serves as the bones for myriad capability-focused vehicles. Florida-based auto shop East Coast Defenders knows this well, making its name building custom versions of the British model for enhanced style, greater interior comfort, and even greater agility while traversing the great outdoors. Now, ECD is invading the sands of Vegas with its latest custom build, dropping the sheets at the 2017 SEMA show. The project was a collaboration with Warn Industries, a manufacturer that specializes in vehicle recovery equipment, and is based on a Defender 110 model from 1985. Created by hand and equipped with a litany of custom parts, ECD appropriately calls this build “Project Beast.”
Framed as an “elite off-road SUV,” Project Beast was actually completed in 2016, built in ECD’s “Rover Dome” in Kissimmee, Florida. All told, it’s got the right stuff for attracting attention at SEMA. Read on for more.

2017 East Coast Defender Project Viper
By today’s industry standards, the Land Rover Defender doesn’t qualify as an SUV. It has a look that remains culled from past generations and it lacks the kind of state-of-the-art tech features that dominate the SUV landscape. But the perceived shortcomings of the Defender are also considered strengths by those who swear by it. And in case there are still people who doubt the affection fans have for the Defender, look no further than Florida-based East Cost Defender’s special edition creation, Project Viper.
While it’s not technically based on the Defender, it’s easy to see where Project Viper’s inspiration lies. There are also hints of inspiration from the Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6, so that shouldn’t be ignored. But don’t mistake the Project Viper for a custom SUV based on either model, because it’s not. The SUV is completely built from the ground-up by the company’s new Ultimate Vehicle Concept (UVC) division, which specializes on limited edition builds to create SUVs that are, in the words of ECD co-owner Scott Wallace, “not limited by a specific Bill of Materials or budget.” That disclaimer is particularly important to anyone who wishes to buy any one of the 10 Project Viper SUVs that ECD plans to build. See, it’s not all about aesthetic inspiration or premium tech for the company. It’s also about providing the most well-suited SUV for customers who are willing to pay the premium price to own one.
