2018 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography
The Land Rover Range Rover’s ultimate trim level, the SVAutobiography, is getting a healthy update for 2018. Of course, many of these same updates are found on the standard 2018 Range Rover, too, having undergone a welcomed refresh. The 2018 SVAutobiography is available on the long-wheelbase Range Rover. It comes with ultra-premium levels of luxury fittings and first-class accommodations for rear passengers. Airline-style reclining seats with massaging, folding aluminum tray tables, power-operated doors, twin 10.2-inch entertainment monitors, and a refrigerated compartment are just some of the highlights.
As part of the Range Rover’s 2018 update, the dashboard now features the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10-inch touchscreens in the center stack and another 10-inch screen for the fully digital gauge cluster. Other tech features include 4G Wi-Fi hotspot for eight devices, plenty of USB and 12-volt ports, a household power plug. Land Rover’s Connect Pro brings smartphone connection and remote controlling of the vehicle’s systems. The app allows for operating door locks, setting climate control temperatures, and remotely starting the engine. And for those times when having keys for a phone on your person isn’t feasible, the available Activity Key wristband doubles as the key fob.
Of course, that’s just scratching the surface, so let’s dive into what’s new.

The Range Rover SVAutobiography Is JLR’s Answer to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan
Judging by what vehicles it has created since its inception, you’d be tempted to believe that Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operation division is all about blistering performance and race-inspired looks. But it’s capable of more than that and the Range Rover SVAutobiography is the perfect proof. Although the name isn’t exactly inspired (maybe we’re supposed to read it Svautobiography?), this new model takes the Range Rover SUV to new heights in terms of luxury. Wait, is that even possible? This car is already packed with the best Land Rover has to offer. Well yeah, because it turns the performance-rated SUV into a comfortable lounge for rear seat passengers.
Available exclusively in long-wheelbase specification, the SVAutobiography comes with Executive Class Rear seats. Combined with the longer wheelbase, it results in rear legroom of over 3.9 feet (1.2 meters), so it’s by far the most comfortable Land Rover you can buy. The seats also feature deep foams that enhance comfort during long trips, as well as 40-degree recline capability, a hot stone massage function, heated calf and footrests, and 22-way adjustment. There’s also a revised center console that extends in the rear compartment to give passengers access to control for the power-close rear doors, electronically deployable tables, and a small refrigerator that’s large enough for four 20oz bottles, or two 750mL bottles and two glasses.
Two 10-inch integrated rear entertainment screens and 4G WiFi connectivity keeps the passenger connected and allows them to work or relax while driving. But wait, there’s more!

2017 Land Rover Discovery Dynamic Design Pack
The third-generation Land Rover Discovery, also known as Discovery 5 because the first two generations were split into two series, was unveiled ahead of the 2016 Paris Motor Show for the 2017 model year. Sporting the same five-door wagon layout, the new Discovery is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. But despite being larger, it has a sportier design due to the boxy cues of the Discovery 4 model being dropped in favor of a Range Rover Sport-inspired look. With sleeker headlamps, a slanted nose, and heavily raked C-pillar, the new Discovery is solid proof that Land Rover wants to move away from its traditional square designs. New looks and technology aside, the Discovery 5 also gained a pair of revised engines and an updated automatic transmission.
At the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Land Rover unveiled the first special-edition model based on the new Discovery. It goes by the name Dynamic Design Pack and comes with new exterior elements that give the SUV a sportier appearance, and cabin add-ons that enhance the vehicles premium feel.
Land Rover also used this launch to talk about how the new Discovery received the seal of approval from big-wave surf legend Laird Hamilton and members of the Silicon Beach Surfers club for its Intelligent Seat Fold technology, which can be operated from the water due to its waterproof Activity Key, and the roof-mounted Aqua Rack that can be used to carry two surfboards and other related gear. It may sound a bit off-topic, but hey, a brand-new vehicle needs all the attention it can get.

Land Rover Discovery Gets New Dynamic Design Pack For 2017
The Land Rover Discovery is already pretty wild as it is with all of the interesting little technological bits like the technology that allowed Bear Grylls to rearrange the seats while in the air, or the Activity Key that allows you to disable the normal key fob and leave it in the vehicle while still having the ability to unlock the doors from afar. That Activity Key is even waterproof up to 98ft, which is part of the reason why this Land Rover is also being fancied as the ultimate surfer’s ride. Now, the discovery is getting a new package called the Dynamic Design Pack that brings some new bits inside and out to help it stand out in the crowd just a little more.
On the outside, the Dynamic Design Pack as on 21- or 22-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels. The roof can be had in Black or Corris Grey to help add some contrast to the exterior look. JLR claims that this Dynamic Design Pack add new and “purposeful” front and rear bumpers. After examining the pack in detail, however, there’s nothing more purposeful about either just a slightly different look. In the rear, that silver skid plate now has tiny winglets on it. The front fascia ends up getting new gloss black inserts in the corner vents that help to give it a slightly sportier appearance. A new, Narvik Black grille rounds out the front end, while the same color has been applied to the fender vents and door mirror caps on the sides.
Inside, buyers can opt for one of three different color schemes, each of which had contrast stitching. There’s also Windsor Leather on the “upper fascia” as well as the upper part of the door trim panels to go with a pair of floor mats that utilize Nubuck binding. The package is available on HSE and HSE luxury models, with the standard HSE getting 21-inch wheels and the HSE luxury presumably getting the 22-inch wheels. There are no details as far as pricing goes for now, but we’ll surely learn more about that when the Dynamic Design Pack finds its way onto order forms.
