2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition

Land Rover’s way of tempting you out of buying a Macan

Land Rover’s compact luxury crossover SUV, the Range Rover Velar, is finally getting a seriously fast version in the form of the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition. It has 473 horsepower, as much as the bigger Range Rover Sport SVR, and 502 pound-feet of torque, enough for a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.3 seconds. With a top speed of 170 mph, it’s also one of the fastest Land Rover products you can buy today and it doesn’t fail to let you know all about how grunty it is.

You’re now looking at the top-of-the-range Velar. The most expensive version money can buy and the one that will get you to your destination the fastest. Its 5.0-liter V-8 isn’t new either. What’s interesting here is Land Rover’s decision to use the SVAutobiography name for the hottest Velar instead of the SVR name that adorns the angriest Range Rover Sport and the Jaguar F-Pace.

The Land Rover Range Rover is also available in SVAutobiography trim and, like the Velar, it’s more subtle than the SVO-developed SVR models. That is if you can call turbine-like 22-inch wheels and quad exhausts a note of subtlety. What’s certain is that the $111,402 price tag is no way shape or form subtle being just $3,000 shy off the price of a Range Rover Sport SVR.

2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport Landmark Edition

2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport Landmark Edition

Diesel power only

Introduced in 2014 as a replacement for the Freelander, the Land Rover Discovery Sport needs only a few years to become the fastest-selling Land Rover of all time. The crossover’s popularity prompted Land Rover to create a range of special-edition models, the latest of which is called the Landmark Edition and it’s available for the 2018 model year.

Another reason why Land Rover chose the Discovery Sport to be the designated nameplate for special-edition model is because it was also the first model to be built on the company’s 70th birthday on 30 April. The vehicle will thus be used to support a number of projects in 2018, starting with a community resilience project in Scotland. The Landmark Edition adds unique color and trim combinations to the popular crossover, pairing them with a powerful version of the 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel engine. Let’s find out more about it below.

Land Rover Aims to Take on the Bentley Bentayga with a Two-Door Range Rover

A two-door rival for the Bentley Bentayga?

The auto industry has become increasingly competitive in recent years, and it seems that a lot of carmakers are set on launching the "world’s first" anything. With so many niches and technology around, this mission is becoming harder and harder each year, but some companies still find ways to brag about introducing something entirely new. Land Rover is the latest to join the pack with the Range Rover SV Coupe. Launched at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, it’s essentially a two-door version of the big Range Rover, and it’s described as the "world’s first full-size luxury SUV coupe." Yey marketing!

2017 Land Rover Range Rover SVO Design Pack

2017 Land Rover Range Rover SVO Design Pack

Fancy a dress-up for your Range Rover, sirs and madams?

Land Rover is already regarded as one of the best SUV brands in the world. It’s a distinction the British automaker earned over years of being the standard-bearer of its segment. It comes as little surprise, then, that even with its status, Land Rover continues to find ways to give its customers more reason to come back for more. The latest hint of that comes by way of the new exterior Design Pack, which was developed and created by the brand’s in-house personalization arm, SVO.

The new Design Pack is available to all standard wheelbase Range Rover models built after 2013, and true to form of upholding the finest in British luxury, SVO shunned away from making any overbearing additions to the mighty SUV. If a customer is looking for an outlandish wide-body kit of some sort, best go somewhere else because the Design Pack isn’t going to cut it. (Kahn Design, perhaps?) The Design Pack is all about the subtle nuances with bits and pieces of new components added to give the Range Rover a more refined look compared to what it already has. The pack also comes with an assortment of new gizmos and gadgetry of the functional variety, the kind that would be of great use to owners of the SUV.

2017 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic

This Range Rover combines comfort & sport into a single package

The Land Rover Range Rover is no stranger to luxury. The automaker has been building cushy SUVs with impressive off-road chops for 46 years now. But it’s been in the last decade that Land Rover has explored the idea of sport-tuned versions of its SUVs. The newest is this, the 2017 Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic. It combines the high-class luxury found in SVAutobiography-trimmed Rovers with the powerful heart of the Range Rover Sport SVR.

The result: a standard wheelbase Range Rover with all the luxurious trimmings of a SVAutobiography with the SVR’s mighty 550-horsepower, 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 and a SVO-tuned suspension that splits the difference between touring and track focused.

What’s more, interior updates for 2017 bring a new 10-inch infotainment screen paired with Land Rover’s latest driver assistance features. Though this Range Rover isn’t capable of fully autonomous driving, Land Rover says all the building blocks are in place.

Also debuting is a new Advanced Tow Assist system that’s said to take the stress out of backing a trailer. Like the Ford F-150’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, the driver can use a rotary knob to intuitively steer the vehicle when backup with a trailer. In the Rang Rover’s case, it’s the Terrain Response knob.

There’s plenty more to discuss, so keep reading for all the details.

Update 08-24-2016: We’ve made a video that covers the highlights of the new Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic. Click on play to see it for yourself!

New tech and looks for the 2017 Disco Sport

Land Rover has announced an update to the Discovery Sport – its entry-level SUV. It’s called the Dynamic Design Pack and is available on HSE and HSE LUX trim levels. The changes are mostly external, though the infotainment system is highly updated with a larger screen size, faster processing, better graphics, and more intuitive menu functions. Land Rover calls it the InControl Touch Pro.

These changes are found on the 2017 model Disco Sport, but Land Rover is expected to extend the infotainment update to other vehicles in its lineup. In fact, the Disco Sport is the second vehicle to boast the upgraded computer system. Just a few weeks ago, we reported the Land Rover Ranger Rover Evoque Ember Edition debuted the new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system.

Apart from the inControl system, the Dynamic Design Pack brings a new look to the Discovery Sport. Traditional Land Rover fans might be disappointed to find no upgrades in off-road equipment and such, but rather vogue styling changes. Still, the Dynamic Design Pack will help attract customers to the Discovery Sport, further helping Land Rover’s sales.

Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer, said, "Our customers want their vehicles to stand out and expect a wide range of personalization options. The latest additions to the Discovery Sport deliver this in a premium way."

The 2017 Discovery Sport, with the optional Dynamic Design Pack, will be available in August of 2016 and will carry a starting price of $37,695 before taxes, fees, and a $995 destination charge.

2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Ember Limited Edition

2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Ember Limited Edition

Range Rover’s hot-selling Evoque just got hotter with the Ember Edition

Land Rover knows it has a hit product with the Range Rover Evoque. That’s evident by the numerous versions it offers, including the coupe, five-door, and convertible. Well, Land Rover is adding something else – not quite a new body style – but a special edition that features a red and black theme. It’s called the Ember Edition.

"We wanted to give the Range Rover Evoque Ember Limited Edition a sporty feel,” says Phil Simmons, Land Rover’s Studio Director for Exterior Design Realization. “Contrasting the intensity of the Firenze Red with Santorini Black really shows off the Evoque’s stand-out proportions."

The Evoque Ember Edition not only sports a bespoke appearance, it also features JLR’s next-generation infotainment software. Land Rover says this is in response to custom demand for greater connectivity. We say it’s in response to the betterment of infotainment systems across the automotive landscape. Range Rover is supposed to be a cutting-edge brand, remember?

The updated InControl Touch Pro infotainment system features a new 10.2-inch tablet-style touch screen with “pinch ‘n’ zoom” capabilities and runs streetview map options and a customizable home screen. We expect to see this hardware and software upgrade rapidly expand through JLR’s portfolio over the next few model years.

Visually, the Range Rover Evoque Ember Edition calls attention to itself via a Firenze Red roof color that contrasts a Santorini black body color. Unique badging further defines the look. The interior is equally updated, with black leather seats held together with Pimento Red stitching. Of course, there’s more to the Evoque Ember Edition, so keep reading for the full run-down.

2016 Land Rover Range Rover Holland & Holland Edition

2016 Land Rover Range Rover Holland & Holland Edition

Range Rover’s most luxurious rifle-hauler

As if the SVAutobiogrphay edition of the Range Rover wasn’t special enough, Land Rover today announced its partnership with the famed British shotgun maker Holland & Holland. The result is the most detailed, luxurious, and well-armed Range Rover to ever leave the Solihull, U.K. assembly plant.

Adding to the allure is Land Rover’s very limited production run, with the U.S. only allotted 30 examples. Of course, when supply is limited, prices rise. That might help explain the Range Rover’s whopping price tag of $244,500. That’s nearly $45,000 beyond the starting price of the “standard” Range Rover SVAutobiography.

Those 30 wealthy owners will enjoy the Range Rover’s added features, which include bespoke exterior and interior design elements, along with a leather-trimmed and lockable gun case, perfectly suited for two hand-crafted Holland & Holland firearms.

"The whole SVO team is very proud of this car, a bespoke design, which perfectly meets the very particular needs of Holland & Holland customers," said John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations. "This shows the huge potential of SVO, which encapsulates both off- and on-road performance as well as luxury and craftsmanship."

Despite the exorbitant price, this isn’t the most expensive Range Rover. In fact, just last year for the 2015 model year, Range Rover charged roughly $284,000 for – you guessed it – the Holland & Holland special edition Range Rover. Like the most modern iteration, the previous model offered nearly all the same features, though was based on the comparably less-ritzy Autobiography edition.

So without further ado, let’s check out what the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography Holland & Holland Edition has in store.

2016 Land Rover Discovery Graphite

2016 Land Rover Discovery Graphite

Land Rover has released two special editions for its popular Discovery model. Headed for Europe and other parts of the globe, the two additions to the Discovery lineup include the Landmark Edition and this, the Graphite Edition.

Both offer bespoke parts and interior features that subtly set them apart from a standard Disco. Unique coloring on trim pieces, larger wheels, and the special edition badges that designate the exclusivity.

Specifically on the Graphite, the trim builds off the Black Pack option, adding a grey (graphite) finish to the fender vents and front grille, along with a light grey frame that surrounds the grille, looking almost like chrome in the photos. The graphite color continues onto the 19-inch alloy wheels and all the exterior badges.

Unlike the Landmark Edition that is limited to five color choices, the Graphite Edition comes with nine total choices. Three color choices are offered for the interior, giving the customer a rather wide selection of combinations.

Though Land Rover doesn’t specify, the Graphite Edition builds off the base SE model that’s also equipped with the Black Pack. Coming standard in this model is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 that makes 256 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Of course, being a Discovery, the SUV comes with Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 software that helps give the Discovery its legendary off-road capabilities.

For those looking to stand out – even in a crowd of Land Rovers, the Discovery Graphite Special Edition is a solid choice. Land Rover is changing £47,495, or roughly $72,668 for this edition.

2016 Land Rover Discovery Landmark

2016 Land Rover Discovery Landmark

Land Rovers have always been desirable. Thanks to their fantastic off-road abilities, on-road comfort, and surprising power, the rugged automaker turned luxury brand hasn’t had too many issues with selling its SUVs. But now, Land Rover has announced two new special editions for its Discovery model. Called the Graphite and Landmark editions, the pair is aimed at buyers seeking a more distinguished ride.

More specifically, the Landmark edition improves off the Discovery’s current top trim, the HSE. Exterior details are added for a more bespoke look, including full-length roof rails finished in a bright silver color; its fender vents, grille, and mirror caps come finished in a glossy black color; and 20-inch wheels exclusive to the trim finish off the look.

Only five colors are available for the Discovery Landmark: Waitomo Grey, Santorini Black, Yulong White, Indus Silver, and a new color called Zanzibar that is only available on the Landmark Edition.

Of course, Land Rover didn’t leave the interior alone. The Landmark comes with Windsor Leather seats and an “extended” leather package that wraps even more interior bits in the cowhide. Color choices include Ebony, Almond, and Tan. Interestingly enough, this is the first time the Discovery has ever had a tan interior. What really sets the interior apart is the choice of different steering wheels that accompany corresponding wood trim choices.

Land Rover makes no mention of powertrain updates or even which powertrain is offered. Since it’s built off the HSE trim, it’s easy to assume the 3.0-liter turbodiesel is the only engine choice. And of course, the Discovery Landmark is only available in Europe and other parts of the world. (Look for news about the Graphite model on TopSpeed soon.)

The Land Rover Range Rover is considered by many to be the best all-around SUV on the market. Not only does it live up to its off-road heritage, the luxury SUV offers spectacular on-road handling and performance not normally found in such a large vehicle. Well Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations has taken the Range Rover one step further. Meet the Range Rover Sentinel – a fully armored SUV with the capability of protecting its four occupants from everything short of a missile strike.

The Sentinel version of the Range Rover standard wheelbase adds a cocoon of protection for the cabin, including multi-laminated bulletproof glass; armored plating in the roof, doors, and floor; and specialized wheel inserts that allow the vehicle to be driven even with flat tires.

Despite all these added features, the Sentinel looks like any regular Range Rover. Upgraded wheels are the only real difference — that is if the driver keeps the emergency lights and siren system turned off. The Range Rover Sentinel is fully customizable though Land Rover’s SVO division, beyond offering the standard battery of interior and exterior color options.

The Sentinel’s armoring is fully certified to VR8 standards, meaning it can withstand .30 caliber, 7.62 mm high velocity armor-piercing incendiary rounds from weapons like the AK-47. It can also withstand blasts of up to 15 kg (33 pounds) of TNT and DM51 grenade explosions.

The vehicle also comes with a driver-training program to teach owners or their chauffeurs how to handle the heavily weighted vehicle in attack situations. Land Rover began taking orders in September, 2015 for customers located in the U.K., Europe, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
