Lexus->ke47 and culture icon will.i.am have teamed up to create a one-off, special-edition of the all-new Lexus NX crossover. Complete with a wide-body kit, 22-inch wheels, and loads of interior adornments, the team debuted the crossover->ke288 September 24, 2014 as part of the Paris Fashion Week.

The standard 2015 Lexus NX 200T F Sport takes on a new look thanks to the extra-wide fenders from the wide-body kit. A lowered suspension helps those 22-inch wheels fit nicely under the bodywork that’s coated in monochrome, matte Pearl White paint. The white hue is offset by the black panoramic glass roof and orange brake calipers.

The monochrome color scheme continues inside the customized NX. The leather seats get will.i.am treatment with his “willpower” logo embroidered on the seatbacks. Will.i.am pumped up the audio system, going with a 10-speaker setup from Pioneer. A unique camera system employs four 180-degree, wide-angle cameras that capture videos->ke278 and photos in panoramic form. The images are then transferable to a smart device via Bluetooth.

Other bespoke touches include a unique steering wheel and brushed aluminum floor mats.

Lexus and will.i.am left the NX 200T F Sport’s drivetrain alone. That means it still utilizes Lexus’ all-new, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. With an innovative turbo-on-head design, turbo lag is nearly eliminated. That helps the engine produce 235 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm.

The collaboration between the automaker and will.i.am helps kick off a marketing campaign for the Lexus NX.

Lexus NX will.i.am Special Edition in detail

The lowered suspension and wide-body kit really make the NX look menacing. The 22-inch black wheels enhance the appearance even more. It’s honestly not a bad looking special edition that would really become extra special with some extra horses under the hood. I’m just glad the Lexus NX looks far better than will.i.am’s previous attempt at designing a car.

Lexus NX

The Lexus NX is a completely new vehicle for 2015 and is aimed at bringing a more youthful yet still affluent audience to the Lexus brand. The highly stylized crossover comes with Lexus’ predominant Spindle Grille shared with its other vehicles while the rest of the NX is a completely new take.

Power comes from two places: the standard 2.0-liter, turbo four-cylinder or the naturally aspirated, 2.5-liter four-cylinder combined with a hybrid system. Both motivate the crossover well, but Lexus’ new turbo is the enthusiast’s choice.

Lexus hasn’t released official pricing yet, but the automaker told us the NX will start in the mid-$30,000 range and is expected to venture into the $40,000 range with options.
