The Lexus RC is a car that’s made for a show like SEMA. I’m pretty certain that I’m not the only with that opinion. I’ve been one of the biggest fans of the RC since it first made its debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and I haven’t second guessed it since. Now, it’s headed to the SEMA Auto Show, thanks to the collaboration of noted aftermarket companies LexusTuned, GReddy, Toyo Tires, and Rocket Bunny.

You would think that I’d be a fan of this heavily modified Lexus RC. But actually, I’m not. I know, shocker...

To be clear, I understand why the RC was modified to look like this. It’s the objective of nearly every tuner at SEMA to show up with something intense, but there’s something to be said for going a little too far with it and robbing the car of its personality.

I think that’s what happened to this RC. A lot of the character lines I loved on the standard version have been replaced with a wide-body kit that makes the RC look about as appealing as a fading actress with too many facelifts. The rear section, specifically the spoiler and the custom diffuser, does add a more aggressive look to the sports coupe, but overall, the kit didn’t accentuate the RC’s sexiness.

The custom wide-body kit comes from Rocket Bunny, a tuner that’s no stranger to out-of-the-box body kits.

The full spate of details haven’t been released yet, but considering the companies that worked on this Lexus RC, I have an idea on which one contributed what to the program.

The custom wide body-kit comes from Rocket Bunny, a tuner that’s no stranger to out-of-the-box body kits. Remember the Scion FR-S Racing Drift from the 2013 SEMA Auto Show? Race Bunny had a hand in that too.

I’m also pretty certain that this customized RC rides on a set of Toyo Tires that have reportedly been wrapped around custom Enkei wheels.

Meanwhile, the interior received new Bride seats with Takata harnesses, which is all I know about the cabin upgrades at this point.

All the nitty-gritty details about this heavily customized Lexus RC will be revealed at the 2014 SEMA Auto Show.

As far as GReddy is concerned, I believe this Lexus RC has been fitted with a handful of new parts from the Japanese tuner with the singular purpose of improving its performance credentials. However, there are still no details on whether the RC received a bump in output, although I wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers were jacked up significantly. A body kit like this at least deserves a hefty increase in power, right?

All the details about this heavily customized Lexus RC will be revealed at the 2014 SEMA Auto Show. Hopefully, there’s more to it than meets the eye, because as it stands now, I’m looking at a program that’s a little too much for the Lexus’ new sports coupe.
