For the man who wants wine to go with his Lexus ES 350 F Sport

The 2018 SEMA Auto Show is hosting a number of sick aftermarket creations, including a Lexus ES 350 F Sport that features updated styling and an interior that can capture the hearts of sommeliers the world over. The Lexus ES 350 F Sport is one of three custom-built Lexus models appearing at SEMA. It doesn’t have the sportiness of the LS F Sport Custom or the ruggedness of the UX 250h Custom, but the ES 350 F Sport Custom has something neither of its stablemates has: wine. Lots of it, too.

What makes the Lexus ES Custom special

It goes without saying that the words “Lexus” and “wine” don’t go as well together as, say, “Bentley” or “Rolls-Royce.” But anything’s possible in the wild and often wacky world of SEMA. This is where imaginations come to life, often to eye-catching results. This is where a sedan like the Lexus ES 350 F Sport can channel its inner Bentley and show everyone that it’s more than the sum of its parts.

The first thing you’ll notice about the SEMA-bound Lexus ES 350 F Sport is its Metallic Red paint. Not only is it a rich and striking color on the ES 350 F Sport, but it also hints at what’s to come when you step inside the sedan’s interior.

But before we get there, let’s also mention the ES 350 F Sport’s aerodynamic kit, which comes to the Lexus by way of Artisan Spirit. It’s a subtle kit in it of itself, but you can still make out the front lip spoiler and side skirts on the sedan. The wheels, on the other hand, are far from subtle. That’s a set of 20-inch Avventura Stratagia wheels from RAYS Engineering, all of which are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The finished product on the exterior looks incredible, but it’s nothing compared to what’s inside the sedan, specifically the trunk.

I suppose we can start with the custom oak flooring and frames, as well as the refinished oak barrel accents. Together, they set the tone for everything else in the trunk.

That “everything else,” by the way, is a wine refrigerator, a wine glass holder, and a wine bottle holder, all set up intricately in the showcase trunk, complete with Lexus-branded wine glasses.

This is the kind of setup you’ll normally see on a Bentley or a Rolls-Royce. But in a Lexus? Yeah, you’d have to go to a place like SEMA to see something like it.

Unfortunately, the upgrades end there. There’s nothing to speak of as far as modifications to the engine are concerned. Granted, the Lexus ES 350 F Sport is still powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 302 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Those power figures aren’t going to light the road on fire, but they’re potent in their own right, especially on a car that’s effectively carrying a wine cellar in its truck.

There’s a lot to like about the Lexus ES 350 F Sport Custom. It’s not the kind of build you’d expect on a Lexus ES 350 F Sport, but it’s certainly one that you won’t mind seeing when it’s presented to you. There’s a place in the world for a wine cellar-carrying ES 350 F Sport. Who knows, Lexus might have stumbled onto something here. Don’t be surprised if this trunk setup finds its way into the options and accessories list for the sedan in the future.

I’m certainly not opposed to it.
