On its own, the Lexus LC 500 is a flamboyant car. The unmistakable styling cues give it a look that’s all its own, and its 471-horsepower V-8 engine helps it straddle the line between a capable touring car and an everyday supercar. But just as the LC 500 already has its own identity, there are still ways to bring out even more of its personality. That’s what we get with the LC 500 Yellow Edition, the latest in a long line of exclusive additions to the flagship coupe’s range.

Lexus LC Yellow Edition Exterior

Color us intrigued, folks. The Lexus LC Yellow Edition is a sparkling example of a special edition Lexus done right. The exterior is eye-catching, thanks to a vibrant exterior paint called Flare Yellow. It really is just yellow on the surface, but there is a hint of a mango-like color to it, too. That’s the extent of the aesthetic upgrades to the exterior, but Lexus also gave the LC 500 a handful of extra aero bits, specifically the carbon fiber reinforced plastic rear spoiler. That piece of equipment is more than just eye candy on an already attractive sports coupe. More important than its visual appeal is its role in helping the LC’s stability, especially when it’s going at high speeds. In fact, the spoiler automatically deploys at speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour. A set of 21-inch forged alloy wheels complete the dynamic exterior look of the LC Yellow Edition.

Lexus LC Yellow Edition Interior

Step inside the sports coupe, and you’ll get enveloped in a cocoon of luxury. The LC Yellow Edition’s interior is blanketed by a generous amount of semi-Aniline leather and Alcantara, manifesting themselves in black, white, and warm yellow color schemes. The play in colors is less vibrant than the exterior, but it’s no less effective in providing that luxury touch that Lexus is becoming known for. Toyota’s luxury brand may not elicit the same level of prestige as its European rivals, but with special edition models like this one, it’s slowly making a case for itself.

The 10-way power-adjustable front seats, in particular, are dressed in semi-aniline leather, while the headlining above is all Alcantara. In between, there are yellow Alcantara inserts in the door panels and warm yellow contrast stitching on the white leather seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, and center console armrest.

Lecus LC Yellow Edition Drivetrain and Performance

In keeping with its status as a pure-bred Lexus, the LC Yellow Edition also features a +*-bevy of performance and handling features, including Dynamic Handling and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS). This system allows four-wheel steering, which enables the driver to independently control the front and rear wheel steering angles. A Torsen limited-slip differential is also included in the LC Sport+ specification from which the LC Yellow Edition is based on.

The Lexus LC Yellow Edition is available as either an LC 500 or LC 500h. The 500 model makes use of a 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated, V-8 that produces 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. That much power helps the LC 500 sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 168 mph. The LC500h, on the other hand, is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that combines with a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery to produce 354 horsepower. It’s not as powerful as the gas-powered LC 500, but it’s still potent enough to sprint from 0 to 62 mph 4.7 seconds before it reaches a top speed of 155 mph.

Lexus LC Yellow Edition Pricing and Conclusion

Regardless of the LC 500 model you want to get your LC Yellow Editions in, don’t expect the special edition sports coupe to come cheap. The price for the LC 500h already starts at $96,510, so expect the limited-run version to cost a lot more than that, possibly as high as $110,000. It’s the same story with the non-hybrid LC 500, which starts at $92,000. Opt for the Yellow Edition, and your cost could balloon up to around $105,000.

Regardless of the prices, the LC Yellow Edition will be displayed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. Customer deliveries will begin in the fall of this year.
