The Lexus RC F is one of the most fascinating two-door coupes on the market. It looks sharp, packs plenty of power, and it drives like a genuine sports car. Unfortunately, the RC F still lacks the verve that some of its German rivals possess. Lexus knows that there’s plenty of room for improvement with the RC F, and with the arrival of this new special edition model, we might see these improvements sooner than we thought. The model is called the Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway Edition, and not only does it pay tribute to the iconic racetrack in the foothills of the world-famous mountain, but, more importantly, it comes with an array of special edition touches that provide that singular appeal that a lot of special edition models possess. Highlights include a distinctive look that’s bolstered by several technical improve Only 60 units of the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition will be made, and while Lexus has yet to release pricing details for the special edition sports car, don’t expect it to close lower than $70,000.

What kind of visual upgrades does the Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway Edition have?

Most special edition models from Lexus are prepared and developed in a way that justifies their status as truly special. The new Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway Edition fits along those same lines. Subtlety is the key term here, as you can't immediately identify it as a limited-run special edition at first glance, but you know that there’s something different and/or special about it.

Arctic Blast creates a semi-matte finish on the RC F that was created using a “unique white paint” process. Lexus left it that so it doesn’t spill all of its developmental secrets, but the paint itself retains a matte finish satin look and is also durable enough to go through an automatic car wash without damaging the overall paint finish of the coupe. If the Arctic Blast Satin finish doesn’t excite you as much as it should, Lexus is also offering the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition in a Cloudburst Gray finish. Those are the only two colors that are available to the special edition sports car.

As a bonus, Lexus is also throwing in a limited edition Meister (MSTR) watch that shares its looks — the gunmetal bezel and the red stitching on the band — with the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition.

For all of the exclusive touches that make the Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway a legitimate special edition model, it remains, at its core, a tried-and-true sports car that can compete with the likes of the Audi RS5, BMW M4, and Mercedes-AMG C 63.

To be clear, the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition comes with performance improvements, though not necessarily by way of its V-8 engine. Instead of raising the output of the engine, Lexus instead focused on improving the handling, drivability, and stopping power. Carbon fiber aeros, Brembo ceramic brakes, and a titanium exhaust are all included in the RC F’s special edition package.

Final Thoughts

I’ve always been a fan of Lexus’ special edition models, and my position hasn’t changed with the Lexus RC F Fuji Speedway Edition. There are automakers that can pull off flamboyant special edition models and there are automakers that are more well suited in the art of developing nondescript yet still attention-grabbing special edition models. Lexus falls in the latter category, and the automaker has done a great job in building on that reputation. The RC F Fuji Speedway Edition is a very interesting special edition. The upgrades, specifically the first-time-to-use Arctic Blast Satin paint finish, all fit into the RC F’s stature as a performance coupe. Nothing is overblown. All the details look good on the sports coupe, and Lexus managed to tie all of it up with a name that’s going to spark a lot of interesting conversations, as special edition sports cars are supposed to do.
