The 500 F Sport Performance has a sportier headlamp design with the L-shaped LED DRLs. The front gets a lip spoiler with more intake vents for better aerodynamics. The hourglass-shaped intake grille adds up the sportiness.
The rear gets L-shaped LED brake lights that run through the middle to meet the other end. The rear spoiler is an addition to the F Sport Performance and so are the quad exhaust outlets covered in chrome.
A set of 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels come fitted as standard. In terms of the overall dimensions, it is a few inches longer than the regular IS with 187.3 inches in length, sitting on a 110.2 inches long wheelbase.
Sitting on the driver seat will give you the amazing dashboard view that holds a big 8.0-inch touchscreen display and the 7.0-inch MID. The materials used are leather and suede mostly.
The perforated leather steering wheel comes fitted as standard with the new IS 500 F Sport Performance. The integrated control buttons on the sides are placed perfectly for driver's convenience.
With moving bezels, the 7.0-inch display is a real treat to the driver's eyes. On start-up, the animation is unique and definitely catches attention. The driving modes too change the interface layout and color.
The center console looks cluttered with the drive mode selector and the touchpad taking majority of the driver side space. The passenger side has two cupholders with other control buttons and knobs.
The infotainment system has been upated to include a touch-sensitive high-resolution 8.0-inch screen which was previously being controlled with the help of a laptop-style touchpad. The Lexus Enform interface is not fully optimized for the new touchscreen.
Like the other F Sport trims, the IS 500 gets sports seats in the front with power-adjustability and multi-level heating options. The front is spacious because of the driver-focused cabin architecture with a massive 44.8 inches of legroom.
The rear gets adequately squishy seats but the spaciousness is not that great. Just about 32 inches of legroom means, taller people might be a bit uncomfortable. Trunk space of only 10.8 cubic feet is available.
The 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8 powering the new IS 500 F Sport Performance, now puts out 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard.
The new four-piston calipers with twin aluminum 14.0-inch front rotors and single 12.7-inch rear rotors offer a better braking feel and performance over the smaller brake rotors of the IS 350 F Sport.
We would say that the new Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance is modern and tech-savvy on the outside but old-school on the inside. The V-8 offers best-in-class power figures but has a wider playground for its 472 horses compared to the torquey rivals.
