2010 Lexus RX 450h by Paul Tolson of EST

2010 Lexus RX 450h by Paul Tolson of EST

The last customized Lexus model to be revealed at the SEMA Show is an RX 450h by Paul Tolson. Tolson’s take on Lexus’ most popular luxury hybrid model reveals a kickass widebody conversion kit and some fancy schmancy wheels.

Take one look at the RX450h by Tolson and you will clearly see that this SUV is anything but ordinary. The Hired Gun Paint Werks widebody conversion kit allows the RX 450h to hug the ground in a menacing way that typically doesn’t accompany a family vehicle. Adding to that edge is the Air Runner Integrated suspension system, Rotora RFK Series 6-piston custom color caliper, 355mm x 32 mm 2-piece drilled, and slotted rotors. The exterior is finished off by Leon Hardiritt Vertu wheels in 21x10-inch front with -4 offset and 21x12-inch rear with +9 offset. The interior saw changes made to the materials and stitching courtesy of Garcia’s Auto Interiors and trim and accent pieces were added by Hired Gun Paint Werks.

No engine modifications were made to the hybrid SUV, no surprise there, but the 3.5-liter V6 engine with an output of 295 HP aims to please to begin with so changes weren’t all that necessary.

2010 Lexus HS 250h by VIP Auto Salon

2010 Lexus HS 250h by VIP Auto Salon

Lexus is rolling out a whole bunch of hybrids for this year’s SEMA Auto Show and their first luxury hybrid sedan is in the mix with a tuning kit presented by VIP Auto Salon. The Lexus HS 250h
gets a Branew aero styling package, a Huper Optik ceramic-based window film, and Lexus OEM Japan-market window visors.

Other goodies fitted into this luxury hybrid include a Work Gnosis GS4 machined center disk, gloss bronze anodized outer barrel, 20x8.5-inch ET30 A disk front and 20x9.5-inch, ET 35 A disk rear, and a Branew axle back system. As with the LS 600h by VIP, this sedan will also get a custom interior by Vip Auto Salon and Top Stitch, but it will also get exterior and interior premium light packages provided by VLEDS.

Nothing was changed under the hood which shouldn’t be too surprising considering the hybrid engine sitting there, but 187hp should be plenty for the greenies of the world.

2010 Lexus LS 600h L by VIP Auto Salon

2010 Lexus LS 600h L by VIP Auto Salon

The Lexus LS 600h from Fox Marketing won’t be the only version of the luxury sedan attending the SEMA show this year. VIP Auto Salon will also be bringing their version of the 600h, as well as a couple of other models, to wow the hybrid world with their classy tuning.

The LS 600h by VIP may not be the most eye catching of all hybrids, but VIP was able to jazz it up a bit with the use of machined black polish wheels, 21x9-inch ET 33 front and 21x10-inch ET 40 rear, and a Performance Tube Systems Joe Z Series axle back exhaust system. Other modifications include a custom air suspension, WALD Mahora M11c, and Brembo high performance front brake kit with 15-inch disk and 6-piston monoblock calipers. The interior was customized by Vip Auto Salon and Top Stitch, but no real details were given as to what was done.

No changes were made to boost the power of this luxury hybrid sedan, but if Lexus’ goal was to prove this automobile was already fun to drive then these modifications wouldn’t be necessary. But they could have chosen a different exterior paint job. That custom PPG Hue of Macadamia doesn’t exactly scream thrilling and fun. It was probably a good idea to have two versions of this hybrid on display because we’d take Fox Marketing’s black and red version of the LS 600h before we’d even glance at this one.

2010 Lexus GS 450h by 0-60 Magazine

As part of Lexus’ attempt to prove to the world that hybrids can be cool and fun to drive, they have brought out the second model scheduled to be on display at the 2010 SEMA Show. This model is a customized GS 450h coming to us from 0-60 Magazine.

The stock GS 450h hybrid luxury sport sedan isn’t exactly the most exciting hybrid sedan on the market, but 0-60 Magazine have made significant changes to the exterior and inner workings of the vehicle to allow it to transcend above the boring, environmentally responsible family car. The first step to that is evident in the Custom Carbon 5-piece body kit. This kit includes a new front spoiler, a huge rear wing, side skirts, and plenty of 0-60 logos all over the car’s rear. Inside, the car has been given racing sports seats and a roll cage to complete the look.

The more technical additions given to the car include Brembo Gran Turismo high performance brakes, TEIN USA Super Racing coilovers, and a GReddy Performance custom Titanium Race exhaust system.

So, for those of you who didn’t believe hybrid cars could be cool, take one look at some of the hybrids Lexus is offering, and you might just change your mind.

2010 Lexus CT 200h F-Sport Concept

2010 Lexus CT 200h F-Sport Concept

We may have seen the Lexus CT 200h F-Sport make its global debut at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show a couple of weeks ago, but the U.S. will only be seeing the concept version of the electric hatchback when the SEMA show opens its doors this week. In a crowd of five customized hybrid models, each an attempt by Lexus to prove that hybrids can also be fun to drive, the CT 200h F-Sport is the best example of this mission. Ironically, the best example of this idea is also only going to be a concept, according to Lexus, as they say they have no plans on producing the F-Sport. Something tells us they’re fibbing and we are actually seeing the preview version of the future F-Sport version of the CT200h model.

The customization program for this F-Sport Concept includes an F Sport performance adjustable suspension, adjustable dampening shocks, and an F Sport high performance Big Brake Kit – Front with 12.9 x 1.1-inch cross-drilled rotor. The whole package is finished by F Sport 18x8.0-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZero Nero 225/40R/18 front and rear. Add to that the cool white exterior paint and the fact that it can get 42mpg, and you’re looking at something that would definitely be fun to drive.

2010 Lexus LS 600h L by Fox Marketing

2010 Lexus LS 600h L by Fox Marketing

Who said green cars can’t have their ‘cool’ cakes and eat them too?
More often filed under the ‘plain and bland-looking’ category, hybrids aren’t often considered as boasting of cutting-edge aesthetics. Fortunately, there are events like SEMA wherein an otherwise mundane-looking vehicle can be given an aggressive makeover.

Take for example this Lexus LS 600h L by Brian Fox’s Fox Marketing. Suffice to say, there’s nothing mundane about this Lexus hybrid. For starters, it comes with a fiberglass aerokit that includes bumpers, fenders, and side skirts courtesy of Artisan Spirits. The package also includes HID fog lights, smoked tailights, and deck wings on the roof and the rear of the vehicle. There’s also the addition of some snazzy-looking 20-inch rims and a hotness-personified Glacier Green paint scheme.

The Fox-tuned LS 600h L is set to take the stage at SEMA and unlike the traditional bombastic cars that are regulars at the show, this car takes the more conservative approach but does so in a manner that it should catch its share of attention from the patrons. After all, there’s still something to be said for tuned-up cars that don’t go screaming ‘Look at me!’ to get some attention.

This is one of them.

Things not to do at home: transform a Lexus into a Mercedes

Things not to do at home: transform a Lexus into a Mercedes

A Mercedes AMG model is no doubt a car that suggests luxury and wealth, so it doesn’t surprise us that someone would want to make their vehicle look as much like the AMG model as possible. And that’s exactly what someone tried to do when they transformed their Lexus SC300 into a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG.

The conversion was made by a Japanese guy with lots of spare time, and he actually started to do an impressive job. However, at some point he did not realize that enough was enough, and he ended up going way too far and ruining it all.

The car’s proportions are quite accurate, but the bonnet is very exaggerated, the side skirts are different, and the air vents are too big compared to the original model. The doors openings are also different and the rear is a total failure. The only things that resemble an SL55 AMG are the taillights and the double pipes from the exhaust system. The rest is just personal interpretation.

Asi LX 570 Invader

Asi LX 570 Invader

Lets face it, Lexus models are not exactly aggressive. They lean more towards luxury and style rather than caring so much about the mean look that makes other cars stand out. That is, until now. Famous Japanese tuner, ADI have brought forth a tuning package to buff up the Lexus LX 570 and they are determined to toughen up this pansy model.

As part of ADI’s aggressive makeover, the Lexus LX 570 with Invader package will get a redesigned front grille and a new bumper that comes with large air intakes. The package aslso utilizes quadruple fog lights, two carbon-finish elements and LED daytime running lights, two-tone finish side skirts, and a new set of bespoke rims to beef up the vehicle.

Under the hood the 5.7 liter V8 engine was tuned to deliver a total of 600 hp from a wimpy 383hp. This added training allows the full-size SUV to deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in less than 5 seconds which is dramatically different than the 7.4 snail run it was getting before.

Let’s just say that if we were standing next to the Lexus LX 570, we would be congratulating it on a job well done while smacking it on its ass......uh bumper.

2010 Lexus IS-F Circuit Club Sport Concept

2010 Lexus IS-F Circuit Club Sport Concept

The Japanese automaker Lexus unveiled a tuned version of their high performance IS-F sport sedan covered in a bright orange finish at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. Much like the original IS-F Evolution, the Circuit Club Sport Concept focuses on dropping as much weight from the fast four door as possible to improve handling and acceleration without having to squeze any more power out of the 21st century V8. Although Lexus hasn’t disclosed exactly how many pounds were shed from the concept, with a vast assortment of items like the hood, fenders, roof, trunk, side skirts and rear diffuser all made from light weight carbon fiber, we are pretty sure that they met their quota.

On the inside, the cabin of the Circuit Club Sport Concept has also been adorned with the black baked composite material adding a bit more hardcore racer attitude to the concept IS-F with carbon fiber covering the door panels, center console, steering wheel and shifter. Meanwhile under the hood Lexus has left the 5.0 Liter V8 intact, however the addition of a lightweight free flowing exhaust system has raised output all the way up to 422 HP, more than enough to have some fun in this tuner IS-F.
