2018 Lexus LC500 Inspiration Concept

2018 Lexus LC500 Inspiration Concept

The concept coupe will be joined by the Lexus UX 250h by Clark Ishihara of VIP Auto Salon

Lexus is an official sponsor at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and it’s using its platform to unveil the LC Inspiration Series Concept. According to Lexus, the one-off LC500 represents the ultimate expression of the flagship coupé. As such, it features plenty of exclusive upgrades in the exterior and interior that looks similar to the ones worn by the LC500 Yellow Edition, a limited-run version of the coupé that Lexus launched in Europe earlier this month.

2016 Lexus GS

2016 Lexus GS

First introduced for the 2013 model year, the fourth-generation Lexus GS represented a new direction for the mid-size luxury sedan. Positioned as an updated answer to the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E Class and 2017 BMW 5 Series, it was built on an entirely new platform, powered by a range of more powerful, fuel-efficient engines and featured new styling that included one of the first iterations of the polarizing Lexus spindle grille.

In the past, we praised the GS for its menacing looks, high-quality interior and versatility, but dinged it for its dated infotainment system, lacking performance (though, this was largely remedied with the 2015 GS 350 F-Sport) and pricey options list. Overall, a very competent car in a very competitive segment.

Now it’s mid-cycle refresh time for the fourth-generation GS, and Lexus has tweaked things for the 2016 model year with some new styling updates, including a distinctive new take on the spindle grille that’s gone full Predator mouth, and an updated range of engines that adds a new turbocharged, four-cylinder option.

Updated 09/22/2015: We’ve added a series of new photos we took at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Find them in the "Pictures" tab.

2016 Lexus LX 570

2016 Lexus LX 570

Since 1995, the Lexus LX has existed as little more than a gussied-up version of the Toyota Land Cruiser. To compete with most luxury automakers in the 1990s, Lexus created its own version of the rugged Land Cruiser by adding some minor styling changes, new badges and a fancier interior, and while this formula held steady for the next 20 years, the 2016 model year finally brings some much-need attention to Lexus’ flagship SUV.

Unveiled at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance alongside the restyled 2016 Lexus GS sedan, the 2016 Lexus LX 570 not only receives a distinctive exterior to set it apart from its Toyota sibling but it also gets a new look to tie it in with the Lexus brand image. Standing as the second design update for the third-gen LX, the 2016 model year might be the most important yet as the makeover includes styling, drivetrain, interior and technology upgrades that finally makes this full-size SUV worthy of sitting in a Lexus showroom.

2015 Lexus IS Crafted Line Edition

2015 Lexus IS Crafted Line Edition

Lexus is famous for offering various special editions for its models. We’ve seen the LS400 Platinum Edition, the ES300 Coach Edition, and the SC430 Pebble Beach Edition in the past. It’s been a hot minute since the brand has had special packages such as these, and Lexus has announced that it will be offering a new, similar special edition for several of its models. The IS Crafted Line Edition, which will be offered on the 2015 IS 250 F Sport, is perhaps the most striking package yet, with gorgeous paint, contrasting trim, and a customized interior.

In usual fashion with these Special Edition Lexus models, all mechanics remain the same, but it’s the little bits and pieces that all come together to make these cars truly one-of-a-kind.

To ensure the highest level of exclusivity, Lexus is officially unveiling its Crafted Line Edition models at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Auto Show.

2015 Lexus LS Crafted Line Edition

2015 Lexus LS Crafted Line Edition

The Lexus LS is the crown jewel of Lexus’ luxury car lineup. It also belongs in a segment that includes the Mercedes S-Class, the Audi A8, and the BMW 7 Series. That’s the epitome of competition right there. So how does Lexus separate the LS 460 F Sport from this three-headed German monster? Create a special edition line with TUMI, the ultimate lifestyle and accessories manufacturer, of course.

The collaboration between the Japanese auto brand and the high-end lifestyle and accessories company is called The Crafted Line. The good news is that the Crafted Line is available across a wide range of Lexus models. The bad news, at least in the case of the LS 460 F Sport, is that it has the fewest allotment of available models at just 750 units.

The LS 460 F Sport might feel slighted that the ES and the RX 350 F Sport both received 1,500 units of the Crafted Line, but look at this way, the LS 460 F Sport is the one model that can still stand out even without the goodies that come with the Crafted Line. That comes with the territory of already being a high-end luxury sedan.

The flip side to that is its exclusivity. With just 750 units available, we expect the LS 460 F Sport Crafted Line Edition to have plenty of interested buyers as soon as the model is launched in November 2014. In the meantime, look for the entire Crafted Line collection to be featured prominently at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance.

2015 Lexus GS Crafted Line Edition

2015 Lexus GS Crafted Line Edition

If there ever was any doubt that Lexus is serious about its venture into the world of luxury, its new Crafted Line puts those questions to bed. The Crafted Line is available on a handful of Lexus models, including the LS 460 F Sport, GS 350 F Sport, IS 250 F Sport, RX 350 AWD F Sport and ES 350. That’s a lot of models to choose from.

The GS 350 F Sport’s status as Lexus’ high-performing, midsized luxury sedan makes it an ideal base for the Crafted Line treatment. Not that it needs any more splashes of luxury, it just doesn’t hurt to get more of it. Owners get their GS 350 F Sport dressed up in combination of Ultra White and Obsidian with a two-tone black and red interior. The color combinations are particularly vexing with the red interior highlights, creating a splash of life to the otherwise classy shades of white and black on the body.

Lexus’ collaboration with TUMI further emphasizes the level of style and luxury the Japanese automaker put into creating the Crafted Line. Every model, including the GS 350 F Sport will receive an exclusive TUMI luggage set. The participation of TUMI is a big deal in building cache among business people, some of whom are probably loyal consumers of the high-end lifestyle and accessories brand.

Look for the Lexus GS 350 F Sport’s Crafted Line version to become a hit when it debuts at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance before its scheduled launch in November 2014. Only 875 GS 350 F Sport models will fall under the Crafted Line collection, so expect it to sell out faster than most of its brethren.

2015 Lexus ES Crafted Line Edition

2015 Lexus ES Crafted Line Edition

Just because the Lexus ES falls below the segment classifications of the LS, GS, and IS models, that doesn’t mean it can’t get the same amount of attention from the Crafted Line collection as the others received. On the contrary, the ES received more "love" than any other model in the Lexus lineup outside of the RX 350 F Sport.

Even with its standing in the lineup, the ES received the same level of customization and attention-to-detail as its big brothers. That begins with the Ultra White color of the sedan, and is accented by a contrasting Obsidian splashes on various sections of the body.

Like the rest of the Crafted Line collection, the Lexus ES Crafted Line Edition will be on display at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance before its launch in November 2014.

Don’t underestimate the selling power of the ES, especially when you’re looking at one of just 1,500 examples of the Crafted Line Edition. It’s still one of the cheapest models in the entire lineup line, so expect those who won’t be able to afford the GS 350 F Sport and the LS 460 F Sport to turn their attention to the ES 350 Crafted Line Edition.
