2020 DS Aero Sport Lounge Concept Car
Over the past decades, luxury has been associated with what we could call analogue concepts: fine leather, wood veneer, exquisite quilting, and silky-smooth fabrics. These days, however, luxury goes hand in hand with technology, too.
Sure, not everybody approves of that, but even the most fanatical skeptic might have second thoughts after getting a glimpse of the DS Aero Sport Lounge. We’re gonna offer up a lot more than that in the words below.
2019 Aurus Senat
Becoming an elected official is not as easy as it may seem. If you aren’t a senator but want to pass as one, there’s now the car that’ll play along perfectly, the Aurus Senat S600. It’s the civilian version of Putin’s ride, the Senat L700, and it looks like a Rolls-Royce knock-off. With a +$160,000 price tag and almost 600 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged V-8, the Senat is sure to make some waves.
Russia isn’t really the country your first think of when you’re asked to name a nation famed for building luxurious vehicles. You might think of the U.K., the native country of both Bentley and Rolls-Royce, or maybe Germany as BMW and Mercedes-Benz hail from there. But Russia has been making exquisite limousines for decades that managed to fly below anyone’s radar. That’s because the ZILs and ZIMs of the 20th century never really got exported anywhere mainly since they were built to serve the local officialdom. Now, though, the Aurus Senat looks to pierce beyond the confines of Russia and the first market that awaits for this mammoth on wheels is, obviously, China.

2017 Audi A8L Extended
In early 2016 our paparazzi spotted a longer-than-usual Audi A8 somewhere in snowy Sweden. The limousine had six doors instead of four and looked awfully similar to the vehicle that was delivered to Harald V, the King of Norway, earlier last month, but the German license plate suggested the car in question was a test vehicle. Three months have passed since then and Audi confirmed that it has began producing a six-door variant of its full-size sedan.
Dubbed A8L Extended, the ultra-long, luxury model was conceived as a special one-off for an unnamed "European customer" and development took almost a year. Having received further requests for the custom sedan, Audi is launching the A8L Extended as a bespoke, limited-edition model that will rival offerings from
Details about the six-door A8 and its availability are still scant, but Audi has provided just enough details and photos to learn more about the brand’s first venture into the ultra-luxury market. Have a look at our in-depth review below and stay tuned for information on pricing and options that will be made available for the XXL sedan.
Updated 04/11/2016: Audi dropped the official details on the A8L Extended.

Jaguar first pulled the sheets on its XF mid-size luxury sedan in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Since then, the lithe four-door has collected a good deal of critical praise, not to mention more than its fair share of sales. The second generation was introduced just last year, bringing significant updates like a lightweight aluminum body and higher levels of performance. Customers loved it, and the XF contributed nearly 29 percent of Jaguar’s total global fleet volume for the first 6 months of the year. Now, Jag is looking to keep the ball rolling, and it added new diesel power paired with AWD traction in order to do so.
Overall, it’s a pretty minor update, especially when you consider the furious turnover that is the industry norm these days. Nevertheless, the addition of a diesel to the lineup could be seen as a rather bold move given the current public perception of oil burners. Will it take the XF to the next level, or will it end up falling flat?

With a tradition that harks back to the 1930s, when special variants of the "Grosser Mercedes" were used by heads of state around the world, the longest and most luxurious version of the largest Mercedes-Benz model in its lineup has always been a special car. Since the second "Grosser Mercedes," aka the "600" or the "Dictator-mobile," entered production in 1964, every generation of the S-Class has also had at least one longer version sporting the "Pullman" moniker. With a wheelbase so long that it can accomodate 2+2 seats facing each other behind the two front passengers, not to mention the option of body armor, Pullman Mercedes’ have always been regarded as the cars of choice for heads of state, dignitaries and similar VIPs.
With the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class already filling a more luxurious niche above the "plebeian" 2015 S600, the German carmaker has unveiled an even longer and more luxurious version, bringing back the Pullman name. Since several pre-production prototypes of the new model have already been spied at or around Brabus’ headquarters in Bottrop, it seems that the ultra-long Mercedes-Maybach Pullman was developed and will probably be manufactured by the famed tuner.

The new-generation Mercedes S-Class made its world debut on May 15th, in Hamburg, Germany and it comes with lots of good news. Along with the new S-Class, Mercedes is using this new sedan to revive the old Maybach brand. The new model and sub-brand, now known as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, promises to be one of the most luxurious machines ever created.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sees a size increase of 8-inches in both overall length and wheelbase. This adds more interior space for the discerning passenger who demands nothing but the greatest in luxury. There is a range of models that scales from the S500 to the S600, with engine choices that include eight or twelve cylinders.
Mercedes officially unveiled the new car in both the USA and China nearly simultaneously at both the Los Angeles Auto Show here in the states and at Guangzhou in China.

Introduced in 2013 for the 2014 model year, the Infiniti Q50 replaced the G series as the company’s luxury compact sedan. Inspired by a series of concept cars launched over the last decade, the Q50 is mainly aimed at the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4. In the United States, the sedan is offered with two different drivetrains, and in either rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive configurations. The base model is fitted with a potent, 3.7-liter, V-6 engine that delivers 328 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping sedan, on the other hand, is motivated by a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 3.5-liter V-6 and an electric motor. Combined output sits at 369 ponies and a whopping 403 pound-feet of twist. As we’re moving closer to the 2015 model year, Infiniti is expanding the Q50 lineup by adding a long-wheelbase version.
Dubbed Q50L, the elongated sedan will be sold exclusively in China, a market very fond of longer-than-usual vehicles that offer extra legroom in the back. The Japanese luxury sedan will compete against a host of other long-wheelbase compacts that have yet to be launched in the United States, including products from Audi, Mercedes-Benz and even Cadillac.

Mercedes-Benz has a long and storied history as an armored vehicle manufacturer. Be it Adolf Hitler’s bulletproof 770K limousine or the early, army-spec G-Class SUVs, the Germans have provided the world with some of the best ironclad rigs. More recently, Stuttgart has been developing and selling armor-plated automobiles through its Guard program, which already includes a generous range of sedans and SUVs, such as the E-Class and the M-Class. Going into the 2015 model year, the Stuttgart crew expanded its flagship S-Class lineup by adding the S600 model to the Guard program. The result is astonishing, as the segments most luxurious and comfortable limousine has also become the safest vehicle in the world.
Surrounded by a two-inch-thick steel plate and bulletproof glass, the S600 Guard is certified for ballistic protection class VR9. That’s the highest ballistic protection class as of 2014 and makes the S-Class safe against anything from small fire arms to grenades. In fact, the S600 Guard is the first vehicle in the world to be fully certified as having VR9 levels of protection, a feat that’s likely to send it in the fleets of many heads of state.

Did the 2015 A8 just eat something sour, or is the A8 pouting while the Panamera soaks up all the praise within the hyper-competitive VW Group? Whatever the reason, all is not well with the new Audi flagship’s facial expression.
The 2015 Audi A8 made its public debut at Frankfurt Auto Show this week, where the new A8 range benefits from a facelift, and detail tech refinements for safety and efficiency.
The latest A8 range is larger than ever, with a much broader range of models coming to American Audi dealers in spring 2014. The U.S.-market A8 range will add a Hybrid front-wheel-drive option for the 2015 model year, as well as the current V-6, V-8 and W-12 engine choices.
Audi’s potent 3.0-liter TDI also joined the A8 line for the 2014 model year, and is available now. The engines for 2015 all feature mild output and performance tweaks, which are aimed at improved acceleration stats as well as fuel economy.
The bulk of the A8 volume in America is expected to still be the firm’s advanced 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter gasoline V-8 engines, each paired with quattro AWD as standard equipment. Short and long wheelbase choices are available, with prices that are expected to range from $76,000 to $88,000, before options.
The A8’s facelift brings an even more serious and technical appearance to the nose, with scowling LED running lights that look meaner than a junkyard dog. Part of the advanced debut of the A8 is to allow time for NHTSA approval of the all-new Matrix LED forward lighting system. Bundled with the A8’s new active safety technology, the LED style statement can actually be a key selling point for some buyers.
This facelift for the A8 leaves a number of issues from the previous model unresolved, which is not great, considering the strength of the latest Jaguar XJ and the brand-new S-Class.
Updated 06/04/2014: Audi today announced prices for the newly redesigned 2015 A8 model line which will arrive at dealerships this month. Prices will range from $77,400 for the base version to $137,900 for the A8 L W12 version.

With a market that grows larger by the year, China is one of the most important automobile battlefields nowadays, and it’s no surprise that the 2014 Beijing Auto Show hosted so many important debuts, including Mercedes’ upcoming BMW X6 fighter, the Lexus NX or Lincoln’s MKX Concept crossover.
Likewise, BMW went to Beijing to showcase an array of vehicles, hoping to gain more leverage over its luxury competitors. But besides introducing already launched cars and a couple of special models, including the 7 Series Horse Edition, the Germans also debuted the Vision Future Luxury concept, which hints at the manufacturer’s next step in regard to large sedans.
As with most of its concepts, BMW declined to offer any information as to what to what kind of production model the Vision Future Luxury will spawn, but it makes a lot of sense for us to think about the next-generation 7 Series. Additionally, and based on previous reports, this study is also a forerunner for the upcoming 9 Series — the BMW-badged executive that will take on the Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman.

The sales market of executive limousines has been slowly increasing over the last several years. These extra-long sedans provide unsurpassed comfort, technology and refinement. Formerly the sole domain of rear-wheel drive German sedans with huge cylinder counts, the market has seen quite a shakeup over the last few years. Hyundai is trying to steal sales with the Equus, and companies like Audi have released more fuel efficient, diesel-powered versions of its A8L, and nearly every competitor now offers an AWD variant.
BMW is looking to take eyes away from the competition with its own fuel-efficient, all-weather model. The newly announced 740Ld xDrive combines a fuel-sipping diesel engine with the xDrive AWD system and crams it all under the sheetmetal of BMW’s biggest car.
Is this the winning combination that BMW needs to keep from hemorrhaging buyers to competitors like Hyundai, Jaguar and Audi? We have all the details below to help you decide for yourself.
Even thought Daimler decided to drop the unsuccessful Maybach brand, tuners still show interest in the luxury limousine. Florida-based tuner Knight Luxury came up with a very cool "Sir Maybach 57S" tuning kit that shows that even now, the 57S still has strong potential.
As expected, the tuner decided to update the exterior and the interior look of the limousine, but it also made some important changes under the hood. This is where the tuner installed a four-pipe sports exhaust system with valve control and Rennkats that increases the final output up to 712 horsepower — an healthy increase over the 543 horsepower found in the standard model.
All the exterior additions were made from carbon fiber and they include new front and rear aprons with integrated LED daytime running lights, a new hood and trunk lid, rear diffuser and a new rear spoiler. For good measure, the tuner also swapped out the stock engine cover for a carbon-fiber one.

BMW’s Individual Program has given rise to some pretty unique vehicles over the years. Remember in the 90’s when the automaker decided to build a bespoke BMW 750Li for Karl Lagerfeld?
Fast forward to 2013 and once again, the 750Li has become the subject of another individualized creation from the Bavarian automaker. This time, the company is teaming up with Robbe & Berking, a silverware maker with a long tradition that spans back to the 19th century, to create the 750Li Sterling Robbe & Berking Edition.
The car itself doesn’t receive any outward aerodynamic modifications, but as far as giving it some luxurious aesthetic upgrades, BMW is guilty of doing so. In building the 750Li Sterling Robbe & Berking Edition, the company began by adding a bespoke exterior shade to the car while also recreating the a number of exterior and interior components using 925 sterling silver, including the badges, the front grille, door sill finishers, door handles and the interior décor.
Speaking of the interior, there are plenty of upgrades in the cabin to justify its unique billing. Notice that a crescent moon, a crown, and the Robbe & Berking logos appear prominently on the interior. Those aren’t accidents, but rather intentional homages as symbols for silver and Germany, respectively.
A fine-grain, Merino full-leather trim in Amaro Brown was likewise used on the seats with contrast Oral White piping. Rounding out the luxurious interior upgrades are the Alcantara headliner, a silver carafe at the back, and Robbe & Berking silver goblets.

The 2014 XJ sedan finally achieves all the potential of this iconic luxury brand with long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive or even supercharged versions that match buyer priorities and also Jaguar’s inherent sportiness.
The previous XJ sedans have all been brilliant at one or two of the executive limo buyer’s checklist areas, including style and interior panache. At different times, the previous XJR was hilariously fast and full of roaring character. But never has the XJ offered buyers such a wide swath of excellence in body styles, technology, style and performance.
The XJ really snapped to attention on the sales charts with the 2013 inclusion of a new 3.0-liter, supercharged V-6 and AWD grip near the base $74,000 configuration. This not only catapults the XJ into consideration for Audi and Lexus buyers, but it also improves the previous standard V-8’s mileage stats.
So like a chorus or an orchestra, all the instruments in the Jaguar symphony finally seem to be playing the same some. And it is a catchy tune with the XJ’s beautiful nose and subtle styling that is a perfect match for the ultra-limo segment’s discerning buyers.
A brief sample of the 2014 XJ L 3.0 AWD was enough to take in its liquid curves, attractive nose detailing, and a cabin so full of leather that it smells like the inside of a Burberry purse.

Land Rover is taking fuel economy concerns with a stiff upper lip and a cup of tea, relaxed as it starts taking UK orders for its 45 mpg 2015 Range Rover SDV6 Hybrid flagship starting in September 2013. The first customer deliveries are expected in early 2014, wearing far fewer off-road accessories and prepared for a life of luxury.
This pair of test prototypes is enduring the opposite of luxury: a 10,000-mile durability journey from Land Rover headquarters in England to Tata Group’s home base in Mumbai. Called the Silk Trail 2013 experience, the plucky Brits seem to have forgotten their own maritime excellence, and the blue part of the map that has long been the best passage to India.
Calling it the Silk Trail is more accurate than its other description, the Silk Road. Mud up to the door mirrors cannot stop the Range Rover Hybrid’s mission.
Going over land is a bold undertaking, and also highlights the production 2015 Range Rover Hybrid’s fuel economy and off-road credentials along the way. Arriving in Mumbai around 55 days later, taking a brand new Range Rover into dozens of foreign countries along the way is certainly a vote of confidence in its reliability - long a sore spot for this advanced machine.
A 3.0-liter diesel engine is paired with a jumbo 35kWh Li-ion battery pack, which is fully production-ready and will also be rolled out on the seven-seat 2015 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Hybrid as well.
The diesel-electric power is not exactly peachy news for U.S. Range Rover devotees, but the technology package should work well with Land Rover’s new 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 as well.
Updated 09/13/2013: When Land Rover launched the first details on the Range Rover Hybrid everyone believed it will be an European-only model. However, in a recent interview Andy Goss, the current CEO of Jaguar Land Rover USA confirmed that a North American version of the Range Rover hybrid "It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’" (LeftLaneNews)

Audi revealed the 2015 A8 L W12 facelift yesterday, and mild is the right description. This mid-cycle refresh brings improved performance, fuel mileage and technology, but little styling change outside. New adaptive Matrix LED headlights and a broader panel of LED brake lights appear out back, while scrolling sequential LED turn signals add some R8 flair to this long-wheelbase executive flagship.
This A8 L W12 quattro barely needs any extra charm school, but its nose now features a metallic mesh grille for the center shield as well as the lower air intake ducts. It is a nice touch that is subtle enough to make the W-12 unique versus its lesser siblings: the A8 TFSI, TDI or Hybrid models.
This debut for the 2015 Audi A8 is in advance of its public display next month at the Frankfurt auto show, where the A8 will be part of an extravaganza of new models from the German auto giants.
In the ultra-limo category of this 12-cylinder model, the A8 is actually far more understated and anonymous than piloting a Bentley Flying Spur or Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive, the new long-wheelbase version aimed at Chinese businessmen. It takes a closer look or a truly eagle-eyed car guy to know that this monster luxury limo is not another everyday Audi A4.
Audi’s subtle facelift leaves much to be desired in the face of a brand new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. How will the new Audi fare when it arrives stateside next spring?
Click past the jump for the full preview of the 2015 Audi A8 L W-12 quattro, with all the latest updates to its exterior LED style and interior technology.
There’s a distinct thematic change when moving up Audi’s performance ranks from A to S to RS models. This four-door super-limo sticks to the script by offering the controlled but comfortable ride of the A8 paired with extreme power and sprint performance.
How quick is the S8? What do you have to drag race it against? It’s beaten everything from the R8 to the BMW Alpina B7. Only a select few cars on earth can beat this beast for sheer effortless pace. Just floor it and hang on tight.
The S8 is then a luxury barge with the performance potential to pass an R8 without really trying. It is one of those cars you can imagine Audi executives designing for themselves first and offering for sale second.
The S8 comes in atop the other A8 variants, including a TDI for 2014, but below the range-topping A8 L W12. After the BMW’s shaming at the drag strip, only the upcoming Bentley Flying Spur and the brand-new 2014 S63 AMG 4Matic can keep up with this level of AWD pace. Oh, and don’t forget the crushing prowess of the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
The A8/S8 pair is unique within the Volkswagen Group because the costly aluminum space frame and panels are not sharable assets for Bentley or Porsche at the moment. The addition of a world-beating 520 horsepower twin-turbo V-8 engine and eight-speed automatic mean the S8 is one of the most desirable super sedans available at any price.
The major downsides for the A8 – old man styling, slowness – virtually disappear when the car is packing the S8 engine and body kit. Is it enough to earn sales from the extremely capable competition?

Back in 1913, four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts were writing history at the Austrian Alpine Trials - the most arduous test of automotive endurance at the time. The four cars managed to travel over 1,820 miles, proving once again that Rolls Royce was indeed developing the best cars in the world.
This year, as a celebration to the event’s centenary, Rolls Royce has prepared an Alpine Trial Centenary Collection that takes inspiration from the 1913 Alpine Trials cars. The first car to be unveiled will be a special Ghost and we are going to see it at Auto China 2013.
The new Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary Edition is painted in the same blue used for James Radley’s Silver Ghost. The blue is be combined with a distinct black grille and wheels also inspired by the classic car.
The car’s cabin is also inspired by the Alpine Trials cars: the clock displays the stages of the rally and timings and it features a very nice "Alpine Trial Centenary" logo. As usual, each element of the interior is meticulously handcrafted by Rolls Royce engineers.

A few years ago, Hyundai collaborated with Italian fashion label Prada to build a special-edition Prada-designed Genesis model. That endeavor proved to be a flop as only about 400 of the 1,200 models were sold.
But the Korean automaker is apparently undaunted because it’s once again taken the same partnership route, only this time it’s with French fashion brand Hermes.
Called the Hyundai Equus Hermes Edition, the special-edition model is only three units strong and none of them are for sale. Guess Hyundai learned a lesson or two from the Prada debacle, huh?
Aesthetically speaking, each of the three Equus Hermes models have interiors that live up to Hyundai’s pursuit of a "modern premium" car. More than 20 high-end items were used to dress up the interior, including luminary materials like crocodile leather lining the door panels. If the material rings a bell, it’s also the same one Hermes uses on a lot of its handbags.
As an extended wheelbase, the Equus Hermes has enough space to accommodate a host of luxury features, particularly the rear, which has its own folding table, four-cup holders, a water bottle compartment, and a large storage space, among other things.
Unfortunately, none of the three units of the Equus Hermes Edition are up for sale, according to Hyundai. But if you want to learn more about the automaker’s rationale in building the unique luxury sedan, you can check out its Q&A regarding the Equus Hermes Edition after the jump.
Sometimes, you can only let out an exasperated sigh.
The Lamborghini Aventador is, by all measures, a high-powered, true-as-can-be supercar. It’s appeal is hinged on the fact that it’s an exotic-looking beast with performance credentials unmatched by most cars in today’s world.
What it isn’t is a limousine, which is what UK-based luxury-car-for-hire company, Cars For Stars, is trying to turn it into.
To be fair to Cars For Stars, it’s designing the Lambo limo to remain "loyal to the original iconic Aventador design,” except with the caveat that it’s going to be much longer than what the Aventador is used to. But Cars For Stars is keeping most of the Aventador’s defining features, including the upwards-opening scissor doors, which will now have four of them as opposed to the two in the standard Aventador.
The company also said that the Aventador limousine will be built with only the finest materials in mind, including plush leather interiors emblazoned with the Cars For Stars logo, heated seats, plasma screens, iPod docks, surround sound, champagne bars and plenty more.
We have no doubts that Cars For Stars won’t disrespect the spirit of the Aventador, but there’s something to be said about turning a supercar into a luxury limousine that looks more and more like an expensive novelty more than anything else.
We get it if it’s a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley. But a Lamborghini Aventador?
Not so much.
As no surprise, more than 9 of 10 all-new XTS models are sold to individual luxury buyers. Now, Cadillac is further increasing the luxury level offered by the XTS limousine with the addition of a new W20 Livery Package offered exclusively to livery companies through Caddy’s Professional Vehicles program.
The new W20 Livery Package is built on the range-topping XTS Platinum and will add 19-inch wheels plus LED-infused door handles. The car’s safety will be further increased with the addition of a new rear-vision camera, while the interior adds a micro-fiber suede headliner.
The package can be further updated with a new rear-seat comfort package that adds heated front and rear seats, window sun shades and a power inverter to charge mobile devices. Cadillac’s new CUE system for connectivity and control will also be available with the new W20 Package.
Thanks to Cadillac’s new Professional Vehicles program, companies can further customize their vehicle fleets according to a specific set of standards required by their own activities.
The 2014 Audi A8 L has been the object of affection for a lot of people, including myself who may or may not have a desktop wallpaper of the German luxury car on his laptop computer.
So, when Audi announced that the A8 L TDI is set to be brought to U.S. shores, you had at least one happy camper that’s already trying to fill up his piggy bank.
In all seriousness, this is great for everyone who has been clamoring for the super-luxurious German limousine to find its way in the Land of the Free. Take out the fact that the Audi A8 L TDI looks like an outright stunner that takes advantage of all the beautiful styling cues that Audi has come to be known for in the past years. Audi’s Premium Package also comes as a standard for the A8 L TDI, which means that you’ll receive Audi side assist and pre-sense rear, 22-way multi-contour comfort seats, front seat ventilation with massage capabilities, and full LED headlights. Sign us up, please!
But what we really like about the A8 L TDI is its 3.0-liter TDI engine that delivers 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to hit 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds. Sure, there could have been more power added to the engine, but given the kind of market the A8 L is supposed to take aim at, 240 ponies is mighty plenty for us, especially when the returns equate to an EPA estimated 24 mpg city / 36 mpg highway/ 28 mpg combined.
The 2014 Audi A8 L TDI will retail for $82,500 when it hits dealerships in the spring. That’s significantly cheaper than the $93,000 price tag attached to the Mercedes S350 BlueTEC. We like the S350 BlueTEC, but when given a choice, we’re not hesitating picking the A8 L TDI on this round.
We’ll update this review as more information on the U.S.-spec A8 L TDI is release.
